00:00Now, the longest-tenured head coach in the National Football
00:06League after Bill Belichick, no longer working in New England,
00:09that mantle is passed to Mike Tomlin. Seventeen years at the
00:14helm of the Pittsburgh Steelers and it's not done there.
00:18Entering year number eighteen, which was his final under
00:21contract in the Steel City, the Steelers organization adds on a
00:26three-year contract extension. That would seem to me, Donnie,
00:29we're gonna get two decades of Mike Tomlin at in Pittsburgh.
00:33And you should and you should be happy if you're a Steelers
00:36fan because the one thing that you do know at the beginning of
00:38every season, you will be competitive and you're getting
00:40some really good sound bites. There's no question that he's a
00:43solid coach in the NFL but sometimes we take a look at the
00:46records which are very good, Ben. 173 and 111 playoff
00:50appearances and the key ingredient once again, no
00:52losing seasons. Here's the issue though. In the NFL, a lot of
00:56the times, it's really what have you done for me lately?
00:59Sure, we can look at that record and the losing season
01:01and even say, you know what, man? He won a Super Bowl
01:03championship. Good for him. That Super Bowl was back in
01:062009. We're entering into the 2024 season. So, expectations
01:10for a Steelers organization that's one of the most, you
01:13know, bountiful, we should say, in NFL history with winning
01:16championships hasn't really been on that timeline of yes,
01:19we're expecting a Super Bowl this year. Solid team
01:22nonetheless. We'll see what Russ gives out but it's a no-brainer
01:25for the Steelers. Were they gonna let Mike Tomlin go into
01:27the final year of his contract as a lame duck head coach? That
01:30absolutely wasn't happening. So, you had to give him the
01:32extension and we're pretty sure next year, the Steelers once
01:35again, just like they've been on the Mike Tomlin for the past
01:3717 seasons will be competitive.
