00:00It is possible that Meralco's customers will pay more for electricity this month

00:06as a result of the huge increase in pass-through charges

00:12or charges that are being passed on to the consumer.

00:16This is what Bernadette Reyes reported.

00:21In the very face of Meralco's arrest,

00:23various groups protested against the high cost of electricity charges

00:27and the use of coal and gas in power plants that are causing climate change.

00:31We are not yet approving the increase in our salaries.

00:35The electricity is still going up.

00:36But Meralco has said that they are afraid of a huge increase

00:41in pass-through charges or charges that are being passed on to the consumer

00:44even though there is no fixed amount.

00:47This includes the transmission charge,

00:49feed-in tariff allowance approved by the ERC,

00:51and the generation charge,

00:53which is being increased due to the higher charges of WESEM,

00:56one of the things that Meralco and other distributors are buying.

00:59It is very heavy, especially for us who only have a daily salary.

01:06We are sacrificing all of our budget.

01:09According to Meralco,

01:10they are asking suppliers to pay for the other part of the generation cost

01:16and to pay for the three-month collection from June to August.

01:20Meralco also appealed to the ERC to pay for the payment of the WESEM charges.

01:26The ERC ordered distributors in Luzon and Visayas Grids

01:30to cancel the request for the generation charge

01:33and to wait for the final billing from WESEM

01:36before issuing the bill this June.

01:38Because if they follow that,

01:39the arrival of Meralco's bill may be delayed this month.
