Malaysia should seek alternative energy sources to replace diesel in light of the subsidy rationalisation, says Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.

He said Sarawak was actively exploring the use of hydrogen as a renewable energy source, including reducing its cost of production.

00:00Today is a very significant and important day for us in Sarawak today, exploring the future of hydrogen as the cleanest energy, especially in the midst of climate change.
00:19Sarawak has embarked on its own policy, harnessing our potential to produce hydrogen, and I have the opportunity to see all the available technologies as far as hydrogen production is concerned.
00:39And today I also share with the participants and the industrialists on the way forward for Sarawak.
00:52We are, as you know, blessed with renewable energy that can become a source for us to produce hydrogen.
01:03And now there is what they call TGTP, from power producing gas and gas producing power.
01:12And hydrogen is a component for us to produce clean power in our effort to combat this carbon emission and the challenges faced by the world on carbon emission.
01:34The price of diesel at farm level has remained the same. What is your comment?
01:41I don't want to comment on this one. You know why? Find an alternative to diesel. Then you got no subsidy. Alternative energy. Now it's the return to hydrogen that goes up.
01:54Why diesel? Change to another energy instead of diesel. Alternatively, all out. You stop the whole problem. Why you should be talking about diesel when you have hydrogen?
02:09To reduce the cost of the energy. Don't use oil anymore. That's the solution. Maybe in the future we can use diesel instead of TGTP. Why can't you have cheap alternative energy?
02:26So you don't have to use diesel. Change to diesel. Maybe we have a lot of money there.
02:39Thank you for watching.
