Labour's Cat McKinell has accused the Conservatives of "breaking the childcare system" as she pledged to "fix" it by creating "over 3000 new nurseries and 100,000 places for children." The party also intends to introduce school breakfast clubs which they claim will save parents £400 a year.

00:00So, the Conservatives have really broken our childcare system, so Labour is absolutely
00:06committed to fixing it, and we'll deliver it by creating over 3,000 new nurseries, 100,000
00:15places for children, because we know that whilst the government have made a lot of promises
00:20on childcare, they haven't actually got a plan to deliver it and make sure those places
00:26are there, and we know how important childcare is, not just to children and their development
00:31and getting that best start in their early years and ensuring by the time they get to
00:36school they are school ready, but also making sure that parents can get to work and can
00:42improve their life chances as well.
