More babies were born in Taiwan in May than any other month so far this year, yet the country's population is still in decline.

00:05 population is still declining. Just over 11,000 babies were born in May, 415 more than the
00:13 month before. But Taiwan's total population also fell by around 1,400 people between April
00:19 and May. It comes as the country faces one of the lowest fertility rates in the world
00:24 and an aging population. These issues have put growing economic and social pressure on
00:30 Taiwan.
