00:00 Hi everyone, Bonnie Skinner here, CEO of Sheet Producers Australia.
00:04 Just a quick message from me to say a really warm and heartfelt thank you for all of the
00:08 organisation and the phenomenal turnout that we saw in Western Australia last week.
00:13 It was truly inspiring and for me people are at the heart of this whole entire issue
00:19 and last week really demonstrated to the whole country that not only are we all united but we
00:23 are not taking this lying down so thank you so much for that. The next step in the process that
00:28 we need to deal with now of course is the House of Reps inquiry that was announced yesterday.
00:34 Very disappointing that this has got such a short turnaround and a time frame but of course we have
00:39 to look at this as an opportunity to provide another lot of input into this process with
00:44 such a short amount of time. We know that's going to put a lot of pressure on people out there
00:50 in the supply chain to get and turn around a submission so what we've done at Sheet Producers
00:55 Australia is generated a pro forma template which can be downloaded and personalised and submitted
01:02 into the process and that's really the critical thing around the submissions into this inquiry is
01:08 that we really make sure that people have their voices heard and they're telling their own personal
01:13 story so to make a submission we've tried to make it as easy as possible on our website and with the
01:19 link that we've shared in this chat we've got a template that can be downloaded. The thing that's
01:25 really important with this is that people adapt this and put in their own information. Sometimes
01:31 when pro forma submissions are used if they all come in the same unfortunately they all get counted
01:36 as one so we really need to make sure that people are personalising the document with their own
01:42 stories. How's the phase-out going to affect you, your families, your regional communities,
01:47 your businesses? This is another chance for us to make sure that the voices are heard in this
01:53 inquiry in this process. We've only got six days left to put a submission in so I'd really
01:58 appreciate any help that you can give us to share this link out to your networks and out to your
02:03 producers. We have sent it out to all of our contacts this morning so we're hoping that we
02:08 can really give people a hand with this submission process. Any help that we can provide you or
02:14 anyone that you're in touch with please let us know, please sing out and we're happy to provide that
02:19 and let's all show them really what the consequences of this policy will mean for
02:23 the people of Western Australia. Thank you very much I'll talk to you all really soon. Hi everyone
02:28 Mark Harvey-Sutton here, CEO of Australian Livestock Exporters Council. I just wanted to
02:33 send a huge thank you for all your efforts last Friday. It was truly an extraordinary event
02:39 and you conducted yourselves brilliantly. I think we saw that Perth really does support your
02:45 industry and I think the pressure is actually really starting to feel. The legislation was
02:52 introduced in the House of Reps last Thursday and what Minister Watt has done is actually
02:59 introduced it into a House of Reps inquiry. So what that means is there's actually going to be
03:05 a panel of MPs from the House of Representatives actually examining the legislation and we need
03:12 your help. There will be a submission process and submissions will be due next Tuesday the 11th.
03:21 So what we're going to do is actually put a template submission up on the chat here and what
03:26 we'd like you to do is fill that in and get it into the committee. It's very important that
03:31 we use this as another opportunity to have your voices heard. There's no doubt that the Labor
03:37 Party is using this as an opportunity to jam this legislation through. However it does present an
03:43 opportunity to make a very significant point. The other thing that you can do is there will be a
03:49 hearing in Muresk on the 14th of June and that will be a great opportunity for everyone to get
03:57 together again. I'd really be keen for everyone to to mobilise once again because it was such a
04:02 significant statement that was made. So there's four things that I'd ask you to do. Fill in that
04:10 submission and send it into the committee. Register your interest to attend that hearing.
04:14 Please keep sharing the Keep the Sheep website. We are up to now 40,000 signatures. We're going
04:21 to bypass the RSPCA's petition which will make it the biggest petition on this industry going
04:30 round and it's very important and we need to keep those donations coming in. So please continue
04:35 sharing with your friends. The other thing, continue the great activity on social media.
04:40 There's really a good point being made there and the support has just been tremendous. So thank
04:45 you everyone for all your support and please do those actions. We really appreciate it. Thank you.
