50 rehabilitated sea turtles released in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi's Environment Agency releases 50 rehabilitated sea turtles back into their natural habitat around Saadiyat Island. The animals are the first group of over 200 to be gradually released into key marine areas around the capital.

00:28 >> A lot of the turtles we get have the same issue,
00:30 which is barnacles on their backs.
00:32 And the barnacles are easy to remove once you place them
00:36 in a bit of fresh water and then remove them.
00:38 We check if they're eating well, they're swimming properly,
00:41 and then it's time to release them back.

00:59 Some of the turtles we have, we satellite tag them.
01:03 So we place these satellite trackers on their backs,
01:05 and it helps us identify their migration routes,
01:08 how they're diving, where they're going to feed,
01:12 and it just gives us more information
01:13 about their behavior post-release.
