The Opposition says it will remain committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050 through reliance on gas and nuclear power. The government has criticised the announcement, arguing it risks Australia's international reputation and certainty for industry. Head of Policy at the Climate Council, Dr Jennifer Rayner says the decision is a step backwards.
