00:00 "We're going to the Dolce & Gabbana show. How fast can you have your bags back from their arms?"
00:06 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the craziest and most off-the-wall SNL sketches that were guaranteed to go off the rails.
00:14 "I'm still standing strong, because I always did it, my wife. Hold that couch."
00:21 "Oh, sure."
00:27 When Heidi Gardner first turns around in this sketch, she sees Ryan Gosling in a blonde wig and fake nose.
00:33 "It's the gentleman in the blue shirt and blonde pompadour."
00:37 "Uh, sir. Sir."
00:42 This starts a wonderfully bizarre scene that includes beavis and butthead look-alikes.
00:47 Gardner's reaction says it all as Gosling and Mikey Day trade places and draw more laughs.
00:52 "Oh, I'm sorry, me?"
00:58 No dress rehearsal could prevent her from breaking at the sight of these chaotic looks.
01:02 The host also loves to break in general, making the sketch even more difficult to control.
01:07 Both guys have to sit together by the end in another funny moment that the cast cannot take.
01:12 "You don't know each other?"
01:14 "No, no. Um, hi, I'm Dean."
01:19 "Chef, nice to meet you."
01:20 "Yes, nice to meet you too."
01:22 If it's already hard to take a Bee Gees parody seriously, try doing it with falsetto voices.
01:31 "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. We've got a great show for you tonight. Let's get right to it."
01:38 Jimmy Fallon plays Barry Gibb doing an incredible vocal impression that throws off Justin Timberlake.
01:43 The latter singer plays the co-host with a front-row seat to a hilarious setup.
01:48 It's so ridiculous that eventually Timberlake buckles after the absurd line readings.
01:52 "Alvin, do you have anything to add?"
01:56 "Nah. Nah, I don't. Nothing, nothing at all."
02:00 The whole concept is already funny enough, but Fallon's hyper performance really makes it even more unhinged.
02:14 We're kind of surprised that the other performers can keep a straight face at all.
02:18 It's no wonder they did this sketch so many times, setting up the pop star to laugh even more.
02:23 "We have been targeted up on the Barry Gibb talk show."
02:32 Whenever she appears on Weekend Update as Jeanine Pirro, Cecily Strong remembers to bring a drink.
02:43 "Oh, I'm still here. My soul at fax is on every Saturday at 9.
02:48 A full hour before the nursing homes turn off the TV in the lavatory."
02:53 This particular sketch takes that concept to the extreme.
02:56 She's known to toss her drink directly at her co-star Colin Jost.
03:00 In this version of the segment, Strong does that and more as a giant vat of wine appears.
03:05 "I've traveled each and every highway and more."
03:13 Jost breaks throughout as he becomes the target of several glasses full of alcohol.
03:17 At a certain point, you might think that this entire sketch is an excuse to prank him.
03:22 It's definitely chaotic, but it's also extremely fun to watch the Update host break so much.
03:39 Reprising his role as Regine, Fred Armisen goes for broke in this physical sketch.
03:45 "Are you gonna give me a neck kiss?"
03:47 "Watch what happens when I kiss her neck. Watch this."
03:51 He plays the girlfriend of Jason Sudeikis' character
03:53 and doesn't have a problem entering other people's personal space.
03:57 This prompts laughter from various cast members as they try to hold on for dear life.
04:01 "She's more than okay. You know, her body is like a heart that not only I know how to play,
04:07 and only my touch is what she responds to."
04:10 Armisen ends up in the arms of his fellow co-stars,
04:12 with even the most disciplined performers unable to make it through the scene without breaking.
04:16 The whole thing comes crashing down after the lead actor's foot hits the guacamole.
04:21 Aidy Bryant and Vanessa Bayer are both forgiven for losing it,
04:24 having to endure the Portlandia star's crazy movements.
04:27 "Okay, is there any more food?
04:31 I need to get something down my throat to fight what is coming up."
04:35 "Yeah, you're big."
04:37 Number 26, Jeffries with Sean Hayes.
04:42 Despite their track record, Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz are not the only reason the sketch goes haywire.
04:48 "Look, we work at Jeffries, okay? I have Moroccan dental floss that's more expensive than your entire wardrobe."
04:55 "What? This is a genuine Looney Tunes jacket."
04:59 These two keep the energy loose in the beginning,
05:02 but things get even crazier when Will Ferrell makes a grand entrance.
05:06 The latter comedian shows up on his scooter with a small phone.
05:09 "Okay, you guys."
05:11 "Hold on."
05:18 His outfit, props, and overall vibe send Fallon and host Sean Hayes into a giggling fit.
05:31 Ferrell doesn't stop laughing either as he goes deep into his oddball character.
05:35 It's unclear if they could have ever done the scene without crumbling,
05:39 with so many comedic variables operating at once.
05:42 "Allow us to engage the Concord then."
05:44 "I wish they had something higher than first class."
05:46 "Please."
05:48 Number 25, new military weapon.
05:53 You can't completely control an animal in any situation.
05:57 With that in mind, this idea makes for both chaos and unexpected moments in a sketch.
06:02 "Major, what am I looking at?"
06:05 "Project Domino, subject 119C, also known as Dog Head Man."
06:10 The government's newest weapon is a golden retriever,
06:13 but in this scene, it's also a natural comedy generator.
06:17 A dog with human hands is both entertaining and a ticking time bomb.
06:21 "Observe."
06:23 "And... go, Dog Head Man!"
06:26 [audience laughter]
06:29 Giving the canine a sandwich, the scene becomes even more volatile as the co-star chows down.
06:34 Cecily Strong tries to keep her cool in the face of uncertainty,
06:37 but Mikey Day stands in the danger zone.
06:40 Most of the performers look a little worried,
06:42 and that probably gives them another excuse to break character.
06:46 Their hairy co-star does not always cooperate, causing a frenzy in the final minutes.
06:51 "Dog Head Man! Dog Head Man! Dog Head Man!"
06:55 "He's investigating his own body, it happens."
06:58 Number 24, Doctor.
07:00 Some SNL sketches are crazy from the start,
07:03 using their weird energy to propel them forward.
07:06 "If it's any comfort, it's not my fault."
07:11 "What?"
07:12 "It's not my fault that he's dead. I was there for the whole thing. Nothing odd happened in there."
07:19 Doctors is one such example, with a strange tale of a surgery gone wrong.
07:24 Ryan Gosling enters with long bangs, and everything is immediately tense.
07:29 Things only go downhill from there, as each new element is harder to take seriously.
07:34 "He was very old, he was very sick, and there was already an air pod inside of him."
07:40 By the time Gosling and Bo and Yang's characters are selling cookies,
07:44 this sketch is completely off the rails.
07:46 There's even a mishap where Molly Carney clips Yang with a wheelchair.
07:50 "Okay, here he is."
07:57 "Be careful!"
07:58 With plenty of mistakes, this entire scene was destined to crash in the funniest way possible.
08:04 Number 23, Weekend Update. Doctor We Notice on Trump's televised health exam.
08:10 Kate McKinnon almost unravels during the course of this sketch.
08:13 "We know you're highly respected in your field."
08:15 "Yes, we notice."
08:17 She plays a doctor who's supposed to be talking about Trump, but things quickly take a turn.
08:22 Her accent alone is enough to break anyone.
08:25 McKinnon's interplay with Colin Jost only makes things harder,
08:28 with the two on edge for most of the sketch.
08:31 "And now he's holding rallies."
08:32 "Yeah, who does this? He do this, we notice. We hate this, he do this, we notice."
08:38 Eventually, the lead comedian tries to take Jost's blood pressure.
08:42 The Weekend Update host stops the actress just short of her completely losing it.
08:47 Her laughter brings this exchange to a chaotic climax, creating a hilarious break of the fourth wall.
08:53 "Hello."
08:55 "Kate, Kate, are you okay?"
09:02 Number 22, Court Show. It's always entertaining when dogs show up on SNL.
09:07 "Okay, everyone sit. Ah, sit. We got a lot on the docket today."
09:12 For this sketch, Cecily Strong's judge tries to restore order when the animals do their own thing.
09:17 The comedian also struggles through the script as the canines act up.
09:21 "Well, let me tell you something. Woo! The dog park is a place for fun and tolerance, okay? I should be so lucky."
09:32 Strong laughs as an erratic co-star does not follow its cues.
09:36 Nobody gets hurt, but you can't help but wonder if any of the pets actually got loose.
09:40 There's nothing much the performers can do aside from racing through their lines.
09:44 The controlled disaster gives the show even more entertainment value, providing a few hilarious and off-script moments.
09:51 "Thank you. Ooh, yep, I knew it. Sorry to say, the jury has sentenced you to death."
09:58 "What? Yeah, it seems extreme, but this is dog court."
10:02 We all wish that Kate McKinnon could be our fortune teller.
10:07 In this scene, Adele's customer and her friends receive information about their futures.
10:11 "I see him. He's washing a bag of Doritos with soap. Yes, and you are screaming at him. You're crying, you're screaming, 'That's not enough soap!'"
10:26 McKinnon's character then focuses on the singer. The comedian and the vocalist lock eyes, but it's the latter that ends up breaking.
10:33 It's a subtle moment that truly tests Adele's ability to keep a straight face.
10:38 Clearly having a blast, the musician can't hold back her chuckles as an SNL legend plays opposite her.
10:43 "No, I see no concert in 2020. Only coloring. Monday, coloring. Tuesday, coloring. Everyday coloring."
10:56 Giving the performer a chance to go all out. This sketch includes an unexpected comedy factor that McKinnon brings to every scene.
11:04 It was also bound to be in another sketch, with Africa Tourism showing that the Rolling in the Deep performer is prone to laughter.
11:11 "Jungles, the mountains, the rangers, the rhythm, the drums, the pounding."
11:21 Pedro Pascal sits down for dinner with an unexpectedly hilarious guest in this sketch.
11:28 Ego Wotem's Lisa has opinions about almost everything, especially her well-done steak.
11:33 "Cook my meat. I don't want to see not one speck of red. I can't be getting sick tonight. I gotta be in court in the morning."
11:39 She attempts to cut it and subsequently shakes the table. Pascal can't help but laugh as the dining experience heads into extreme territory.
11:47 "I didn't tell you guys, but a few nights back, this dog followed me home."
11:54 "I'm about to tear this thing up."
11:55 Bowen Yang also breaks as Wotem's character reveals her absurd beliefs, finally succumbing to the ridiculous premise and set design.
12:02 "Is everything going alright? We've been getting some complaints."
12:05 "Oh, 'cause we black?"
12:06 "We black!"
12:08 Just when you think that SNL doesn't make many mishaps anymore, this fantastic sketch comes along to remind everyone of the wonders of a beautiful accident.
12:17 #19. The Lovers with Barbara and Dave
12:20 Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch are the most lovably bizarre couple in this recurring sketch.
12:25 "We were wondering, is this your first time at the Welshly Arms Hotel?"
12:31 "Uh, yeah."
12:33 Jimmy Fallon plays the single guy Dave, a fellow hotel guest that just wants to enjoy the hot tub.
12:39 Fallon instead finds himself at odds with the two swingers.
12:42 "And until the flies and ants came, he thinks it was the finest lovemaking the world had ever known."
12:52 His reputation for breaking character continues in this sketch, which sees even Ferrell falling apart along with him.
12:58 Drew Barrymore also steps in as a friend of the couple and barely escapes the scene without hiding a smile herself.
13:04 "Dave. Dave. Dave. David."
13:13 With accents galore, this strange session only gets better with a few unplanned laughs.
13:19 #18. Extremely Stupid
13:22 Even back in the early days of Saturday Night Live, performers still ended up breaking on live TV.
13:27 This famous sketch with Gilda Radner and Candace Bergen is one such example.
13:31 "Well, here. Have some milk."
13:33 "Oh, thanks."
13:37 Radner plays a somewhat inept person that can't seem to get ahead.
13:41 Bergen's character functions as the brainy voice of reason, but she makes a mistake that says otherwise.
13:46 "You're not too bright, are you, Fern? I mean, whatever your name was."
13:52 The sketch completely fumbles with the guest host's gaffe, and she responds by laughing.
13:57 Radner carries on without any sign of stopping, while her scene partner can barely hold it together through the extended speech.
14:03 "Extremely stupid people are discriminated against all the time. And I should know, and so should Fern, 'cause we are...
14:13 ...extremely stupid people."
14:16 #17. Fernando's Hideaway with Hulk Hogan and Mr. T
14:20 Billy Crystal always has fun with his guests in the recurring Fernando sketch.
14:24 "I am in a chippy-chippy mood tonight. We got the greatest stars in the history of the world right now who are stealing my plates. I tell you this right now."
14:32 During this journey to his hideaway, wrestler Hulk Hogan and actor Mr. T stop by to flaunt their muscles and attitude.
14:38 The latter pumps iron throughout and even gets a chance at a one-liner.
14:42 "Now what is this, Contraption? What is this?"
14:44 "Used to be a parking meter."
14:46 Crystal's constant barrage of jokes finally breaks through the guests' tough exteriors.
14:50 The duo chuckles as Fernando's wild personality proves to be too chaotic for them.
14:55 Recovering with some spectacular comebacks, the comedian goes toe-to-toe with giants and completely transforms them with a few well-timed lines.
15:03 "You know when you laugh, your little things, they go bop-de-bop-de-bop-de-bop."
15:07 #16. Kissing Family. Brecken brings his boyfriend home.
15:11 The famous Vogelcheck family has their son and his boyfriend over, introducing the latter to their overly affectionate behavior.
15:18 "Little boy's become a man. My little boy is a man."
15:21 Each and every member seems to kiss each other with reckless abandon.
15:25 By the time Fred Armisen's father gives a speech, he accidentally hits Bill Hader and sends the sketch into a spiral of laughter.
15:32 "Sometimes we get so caught up in loving our own family, we forget about...loving..."
15:38 The star-studded ensemble then tries to save Kate McKinnon with a daisy chain of life-saving kisses.
15:43 Every passing maneuver is funnier than the next, making for a finale that nearly destroys the cast with the gleeful insanity of it all.
15:51 Armisen and Hader in particular are never the same after the halfway point.
15:55 "That's what I call a touchdown."
15:57 #15. Massive Head Wound Harry.
16:01 This party sketch receives an unlikely guest in the form of the injured Harry.
16:06 "Hey, great party. I'm sorry I'm late, I forgot where you lived."
16:12 All of the guests are reasonably alarmed by his massive head wound that causes many of them to run in fear.
16:18 Dana Carvey lays down on the white couch, but a dog comes by to chew on him.
16:23 Carvey holds on tight as the canine almost takes off his hairpiece.
16:31 The actor tries to keep a straight face while the audience loses it with laughter.
16:35 "He probably smells my dog."
16:38 It just goes to show that real animals with empty stomachs are always hard to control on live television.
16:44 #14. Cork Soakers.
16:47 On a tour of a vineyard, visitors receive a look at the bottling process in extreme detail.
16:51 "This is where the final step in the bottling process happens, where we prepare all the corks for all the bottles of Brunello that you saw earlier."
17:01 Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz are two workers speaking about the process of soaking corks,
17:06 which sounds much different with their pronunciation.
17:08 "As you can see, we are soaking all the corks in this room right now."
17:12 As a result, host Janet Jackson messes up her dialogue as she tries to work through the absurd premise.
17:17 Fallon and Sanz use their comedic accents to dish out more than a few double entendres,
17:21 which only get raunchier as they keep flying by.
17:24 "Can you imagine that me soaking his cork while he soak mine?"
17:31 Jackson seems to be having lots of fun reading the cue cards and enunciating the phrase in question.
17:37 #13. More Cowbell.
17:39 Often considered one of the best SNL sketches ever, More Cowbell has a following all its own.
17:45 "By the way, my name is Bruce Dickinson. Yes, THE Bruce Dickinson."
17:50 Will Ferrell plays the cowbell player for Blue Oyster Cult as they record "Don't Fear the Reaper."
17:55 His enjoyable movements only intensify after some notes from the producer, played by Christopher Walken.
18:01 "I'll be honest, fellas, it was sounding great, but I could have used a little more cowbell."
18:06 The focus on all things cowbell, Ferrell's moves, and Walken's delivery only make things harder to stay focused.
18:13 Jimmy Fallon and others try to maintain their composure and poorly hide their laughter through it all.
18:18 "Don't blow this for us, Gene! You're being so selfish, Gene!"
18:24 We can't blame them either, considering the comical intensity of the key performances.
18:28 #12. Close Encounter.
18:30 Kate McKinnon plays her most outrageous character in the sketch Close Encounter.
18:34 She's one of three people who had contact with aliens, but the only one that had a much different experience.
18:40 "Wow. What floor were you guys on?"
18:44 "I woke up in a dirty metal dome and 40 little grey aliens watched me pee in a steel bowl."
18:51 "And they took the bowl, walked out."
18:53 McKinnon's every phrase is absolutely hilarious, with every subsequent detail of the extraterrestrials.
18:59 "These fancy cats are seeing God. Meanwhile, I'm starting phase two, which is me sitting on a stool,
19:06 while 40 grey aliens take turns gently batting my knockers."
19:12 Guest host Ryan Gosling quickly breaks down, sparking contagious fits of laughter from the other cast members.
19:18 We couldn't do much better considering the hysterically funny dialogue.
19:22 With the ill-fated journey well on its way, the ensemble barely recovers to say their lines and finish the scene.
19:28 It also speaks to the sketch's staying power that the actress reprised the role.
19:32 "Tell me about God. What's God's deal?"
19:35 #11. Debbie Downer - Disney World.
19:38 Debbie Downer is a showcase for Rachel Dratch's buzzkill character to ruin everyone's day.
19:44 "Ever since they found mad cow disease in the US, I'm not taking any chances."
19:49 "It can live in your body for years before it ravages your brain."
19:54 "Wah, wah."
19:56 For this sketch at Disney, the entire family has breakfast in an increasingly broken sketch.
20:01 Nobody is safe as the various cast members break down one by one.
20:05 Dratch struggles to land her punchlines while her co-stars hold back their giggling,
20:09 eventually overcome by laughter herself.
20:12 "We may never know how many people perished."
20:15 The chaos only makes the scene more enjoyable as the meal becomes bombarded by endless chuckling.
20:25 By the time the lead actress has to say her big line,
20:28 it is much funnier knowing that she can't even do it without cracking up.
20:31 "By the way, it's official."
20:35 [Laughter]
20:38 "I can't have children."
20:46 Number 10 - Weekend Update - Smokery Farms.
20:50 "Here to comment are the owners of Smokery Farms Meat Gift Delivery Service,
20:54 Venetta and Wylene Starkey."
20:56 [Cheering]
20:58 Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon sometimes break during their shared SNL sketches.
21:02 Selling cuts of meat from bad animals,
21:05 the performers look like they're ready to lose it in this Weekend Update feature.
21:08 "You do not need to feel guilty with us,
21:11 because going forward, Smokery Farms will only serve meat from animals that are individually stupid and bad."
21:19 [Laughter]
21:20 Colin Jost plays along as the duo continues to push through their sketch.
21:24 Avoiding eye contact with each other,
21:26 both actresses barely make it through the crazy script without breaking character.
21:30 "Woo! And the scent is strong.
21:35 [Laughter]
21:37 Now, our real cutlet, okay?"
21:40 Their prop basket of raw meat also throws them for a loop,
21:44 as its pungent scent floods the set.
21:47 Building off of the chaotic premise,
21:49 the comedians have a field day with the writing and stumble through their remaining dialogue.
21:54 "Oh, yum! Yum!"
21:58 "Now, I gotta say that this...
22:01 Now, what is it? You mean this?
22:04 This roast duck?"
22:07 Number 9. 'Whiskers Are We?' with Tiffany Haddish.
22:10 "So come on down for our fall cat giveaway here at 'Whiskers Are We?'"
22:16 This sketch is what happens when live animals feature heavily on the show.
22:20 With this idea about a cat adoption center,
22:22 'Whiskers Are We?' forces Kate McKinnon and guest host Tiffany Haddish
22:26 to handle multiple felines at once.
22:29 "Oh, no!"
22:31 "I got the cookie."
22:33 "Many of them."
22:35 The animals soon rebel as the cast attempts to keep the sketch on track.
22:39 Playing referee to a basket of feisty cats,
22:42 the actresses introduce more and more pets that don't want to be there.
22:46 "First I laughed, then he choked me from across the room."
22:50 "Dumb little jerk."
22:53 "You look... you look tense."
22:57 "You look tense."
22:59 McKinnon has her work cut out for her as she holds a hairless cat that is ready to fight.
23:03 "You won't have to worry about shedding with Toby."
23:06 "He shaved everything off for a gay circuit party."
23:10 Despite the distractions,
23:16 the two performers complete the piece without any injuries or major catastrophes.
23:20 #8 The Californians - Stuart Has Cancer
23:24 "I'm glad you came over to Evan."
23:26 "Why, too."
23:28 "Maybe you should get going before Stuart gets home."
23:30 Among the more famous recurring sketches of its era,
23:33 The Californians has taken on a life of its own
23:35 with its parody of soap operas and the SoCal lifestyle.
23:38 The direction-obsessed characters discover dramatic revelations about each other
23:42 that prompt ridiculous reactions.
23:44 "I skipped Wilshire and took Beverly over to Santa Monica and took that all the way up."
23:49 "Yeah, I just came over to fix the speakers, the outside speakers on the patio."
23:54 "I think they sound pretty good."
23:56 Fred Armisen's wild delivery throws off Bill Hader almost instantly,
24:00 with the latter unable to contain himself
24:03 as Armisen and Kristen Wiig play their parts with complete gusto.
24:07 "Sit your hoo! Get back on San Vicente, take it to the 10,
24:11 then switch over to the 405 North and let it dump you out into Mulholland where you belong!"
24:18 [laughter]
24:20 By the time the Portlandia lead makes a toast,
24:23 his on-screen friend almost breaks once more.
24:26 "We'd like to make a toast.
24:28 Thank you, Aubrey, for bringing this wonderful California wine
24:32 all the way from Santa Barbara County, California."
24:36 You can only imagine getting through a scene like this
24:39 with some of the most brilliant comedic minds at the top of their game.
24:43 Number 7. Dr. Beeman's Office. Test Results.
24:47 "No, there's no Mark here. My name? It's Mark."
24:52 Will Ferrell leads this sketch as a doctor with questionable methods
24:56 and a habit of taking long phone calls.
24:58 "He's looking at me right now.
25:01 His big, sweaty, fat face sucking in air like a dying fish."
25:08 As absurd as they come,
25:10 this scene features several characters that seem eager to sabotage it at any point.
25:15 The appearance of Tim Meadows only makes things crazier as he dances.
25:19 "I'm sorry, there's absolutely nothing I can do for your son,
25:22 but I can do the robot."
25:25 [laughter]
25:28 While the couple awaits their child's test results,
25:31 the doctor frequently says dialogue that's hilariously misplaced.
25:34 Even Ferrell ends up laughing along with scene partner Molly Shannon
25:38 in this meandering sketch.
25:40 "The truth is, we misplaced your baby."
25:45 [laughter]
25:50 You can tell the writers hit a dead end with the final product,
25:53 but the performers managed to carry it to the finish line with a knowing wink.
25:58 "That was a rough."
26:01 Number 6. Locker Room Pep Talk.
26:04 Quarterback and guest host Peyton Manning joins a losing basketball team for this sketch.
26:08 Hoping to rally his team in the locker room,
26:11 coach Wilforte dances to a supposedly inspiring track.
26:15 [music]
26:23 Various cast members try to keep a straight face
26:26 and hold towels over their mouths to stop themselves from laughing.
26:29 [music]
26:37 After some stellar moves, Manning joins Forte to dance along with him.
26:42 [music]
26:48 The ironic track and Forte's flourishes are so ridiculous
26:52 that everyone is seconds away from chuckling.
26:55 And through it all, you can tell that the lead performer really goes for it
26:59 in a sketch that almost destroys the cast.
27:02 [music]
27:05 "Okay, now who's ready to kick some butt?"
27:08 "Let's do it!"
27:11 Number 5. Girlfriend's Game Night.
27:13 In this sketch, Bill Hader plays an elderly man named Horace
27:17 that joins his partner for a game night.
27:19 "Hi, hi. Sorry we're late. It's been a chaotic week."
27:22 "Horace's sons are suing me again. Horace, where are you going?"
27:26 "To the shiga-- Oh, Horace! Be careful!"
27:29 The awkward gathering seems to be going well
27:32 until Cecily Strong has to sit on Horace's lap.
27:35 Considering the wacky script and direction,
27:38 it's only a matter of time before somebody loses control.
27:41 "Don't do that here."
27:43 "Hey, it's a good one."
27:45 Hader later backs up and is unable to see
27:48 as he begins pushing the table behind him.
27:50 "You know what? No."
27:53 Taking half the set with him,
28:00 the performer stifles a laugh as he tries to deliver his lines.
28:03 "You should be ashamed of yourselves."
28:06 "This works."
28:09 Melissa Villasenor in particular hides her face
28:13 as she giggles through the mistake.
28:15 Thankfully for everyone, nobody was injured
28:18 and the set didn't completely collapse.
28:21 #4 Dress Rehearsal - Rinaldo and Alexei
28:24 This sketch might have been an excuse for two friends
28:27 to try out their best comedic accents.
28:29 "Okay, so at Santa Claus, he says,
28:31 'I'm going to put Rodolfo in there.'"
28:34 As two talkative doorman,
28:36 Bill Hader and Fred Armisen greet the people
28:39 who exit their building with tales about Christmas.
28:41 They also try to maintain their composure
28:44 through the lengthy stories.
28:46 "Oh, juicy bee."
28:49 "You see me."
28:52 As performers like Vanessa Bayer and Bobby Moynihan stop by,
28:56 the main duo crack each other up with their zany personalities.
29:00 Both actors crumble as they can't seem to get through
29:03 their dialogue without laughing.
29:05 "So, they made this..."
29:08 Even Jamie Foxx spots them and tries to hold himself together.
29:13 In a failed attempt to salvage the sketch,
29:16 the main players make it all the more hilarious
29:18 with their fumbled efforts.
29:20 "Last year, this guy, for a tip, he gave me a bottle of red..."
29:25 "He gave me a bottle of red wine."
29:28 "And you know what the label says?"
29:30 "Van Buren Estate?"
29:31 "Yeah."
29:32 #3 Super Showcase Spokesmodels
29:35 "Congratulations, Debra. You're on your way."
29:38 With two of the funniest performers in SNL history leading the way,
29:42 this sketch is one of the best moments of both Kristen Wiig
29:45 and Maya Rudolph's time on the show.
29:48 Their two models reveal a list of game show prizes
29:51 in a string of visual gags.
29:53 "It's a real all-in-one!"
29:55 "It's a glamorous one day, no-nights day."
29:59 "And the film will be Charlie and Ryan's company."
30:02 Doing poses and using accents,
30:05 the comedians cannot help but giggle during their presentation.
30:08 Bill Hader also tries to mask his laughter
30:11 as his piece goes off the rails.
30:13 "If your model likes chicken, then your model likes chicken!"
30:16 "You like chicken, Debra?"
30:24 Showing off golf packages and chickens,
30:26 there's no way any of the comedians could stay professional
30:29 through this wacky scene.
30:30 Along with fantastically funny stars at the helm,
30:33 this sketch is so silly that it was bound to break down.
30:36 "One more pose!"
30:39 [Crash]
30:40 Number 2. Matt Foley - Van Down by the River
30:44 "Alright, how's everybody? Good, good, good."
30:49 There are few SNL characters as iconic as Chris Farley's Matt Foley.
30:54 In one of the show's finest moments,
30:56 Farley wreaks havoc in a family's basement.
30:59 "First off, I am 35 years old, I am divorced,
31:05 and I live in a van down by the river."
31:09 The entire scene works as a performance showcase
31:12 that is so gloriously unhinged that nobody is completely ready for it.
31:16 Getting up close and personal with co-stars David Spade and Christina Applegate,
31:20 the loud motivational speaker is so crazy
31:23 that it's impossible for them to keep a straight face.
31:25 "From what I've heard, you're using your paper not for writing,
31:29 but for rolling doobies.
31:33 You're gonna be doing a lot of doobie rolling
31:36 when you're living in a van down by the river!"
31:41 The comedian even caps off the sketch by falling into a coffee table,
31:45 showing the lengths he'll go to for a laugh.
31:48 "Oh, Matt's gonna be your shadow!
31:50 Here's you, here's Matt, there's you, there's-"
31:54 [Crash]
31:55 With the feeling that the entire cast could have broken down at any minute,
32:02 there's an added layer of comedic tension in this classic sketch.
32:06 "Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel

32:19 and switch on notifications."
32:22 Number 1. Every Stefan
32:25 "Hey, Stefan, uh, are you okay? You seem different."
32:28 "I've had a weird few years."
32:31 Stefan is one of the most popular recurring characters
32:34 in Weekend Update history,
32:36 with every sketch revolving around a ridiculous list of New York clubs.
32:40 Each explanation involves increasingly bizarre venues
32:44 that Bill Hader already has a tough time delivering.
32:47 But co-writer John Mulaney makes it harder
32:49 by changing the script at the last minute.
32:52 "Well, they have a Jewish Dracula."
32:54 "Oh, what's his name?"
32:55 "Sidney Applebaum."
32:57 [Laughter]
32:59 This ensures that Hader trips up during the live show
33:02 because he has to read several lines for the first time.
33:05 "For a healthy snack, hit the bar and have some Frasians,
33:09 raisins that look like Frasier.
33:12 Or try your luck with the human pinata."
33:15 With that knowledge in mind,
33:16 it's amazing that the performer can get through any of his performances.
33:20 It's also easy to see why he chooses to keep covering his face
33:24 throughout his appearances.

33:30 "The one thing that we do know is that...
33:36 No, we don't know."
