00:00 European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says Europe is a great gift at the final CDU/CSU rally ahead of the EU elections.
00:10 Germany, centre-right Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union have held their final election campaign event in the southern state of Bavaria.
00:25 It was attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is a CDU member.
00:31 She told the audience that today's Europe is a great gift, but warned that the bloc is being challenged like never before by populists, extremists and demagogues.
00:41 We stood up together, we fought together. Our topics are the right ones - prosperity, security, democracy.
00:52 That is great teamwork, but all of that was only possible because you fought for our Europe.
01:01 That will be a turning point for the next five years and we can all be really proud of that.
01:08 She criticised far-right parties such as the AfD in Germany and France's national rally, accusing them of trying to ruin our Europe.
01:17 She's aiming for a second term in office as head of the Commission.
01:21 Polls suggest that her centre-right European People's Party will be the biggest group in the EU parliament after the election.
01:29 But she'll need support from other groups if she wants to remain as head of the Commission.
01:34 She only secured her job in 2019 by a majority of nine votes.
01:39 Political parties in Greece are throwing last-ditch rallies to try and convince voters to cast their votes in the EU elections this Sunday.
01:55 Candidate MEPs who have been interviewed by Euronews sound hopeful about what the ballot box results will mean for their parties.
02:04 But they all acknowledge the serious risk of voter abstention.
02:08 I believe that the next day will bring us a good result that will speed up the progress.
02:17 I hope that we will be able to govern like we received a humble message from the Greek people in June.
02:31 I would like SYRIZA to be strong.
02:36 I would like us to have four European MPs, not two.
02:42 I would like us to have the data of 2019 so that we can play a very good, well-organised role in how we understand the modern left in the 21st century.
02:54 So that we can be useful to people.
02:56 According to the latest opinion polls, the ruling centre-right party New Democracy is the undisputed lead
03:04 and is trailed by the left-wing SYRIZA party and the centre-left PASOK.
03:10 It is unknown how many MEPs will be elected from the minor political parties, especially as the campaign focused on domestic issues.
03:22 It was a pre-election period in which we dominated the national issues again.
03:28 Although Europe is in a critical position, I would say that the national issues remained dominant in the pre-election period.
03:37 We did not speak about Europe again, even though we voted for Europe on Sunday.
03:43 The exact opposite remains the main source of concern for the Europeans.
03:58 However, the issue has turned into an internal political confrontation in Greece.
04:03 At the same time, serious European issues were not discussed and two wars are now taking place in the European neighborhood.
04:10 From Athens, for Euronews, Faye Doulgeri.
04:14 And liftoff of Starlink. Go Starlink, go Starlink.
04:18 SpaceX has sent 22 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
04:26 The satellites left Earth aboard SpaceX's signature reusable Falcon 9 rocket.
04:32 Following separation, the first stage of the rocket will return to Earth, landing on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
04:39 There are more than 6,000 Starlink satellites in orbit, providing Internet services to 70 countries.
04:46 countries.
