00:00So what it means in the short term is that me and my council and my leadership have to hold our breath a little tighter.
00:07That is, we have to be optimistic that the vision and story that we're building for our university,
00:12the involvement of the university into the region and its economy that I've been talking about,
00:17that will provide multiple lines of both financial and community linkages to the university.
00:24We've just taken an additional hit on that. That's really the way I view it.
00:29If we take a knee-jerk reaction to what's happened by the government with the international students,
00:36then we can't maintain a consistency of reaching the vision.
00:40So we just have to hold on a bit tighter on the white-knuckle ride
00:44and be clear and positive with our community and be clear and positive about our future.
00:51Right now we're struggling to navigate what's happening because there's so much turmoil and so fast change
00:58and two parts of government are not working in lockstep here.
01:04So the Home Affairs and Education haven't sat down, made a plan and then come out to communicate a plan.
01:19We have always had a very deep and extensive assessment of bona fide students.
01:25The genuine student test has always been something that we have spent a lot of time and energy on.
01:30We go to the point of every student doing monetary exchange, what they call penny drop,
01:35to make sure that we've got a bona fide exchanging person there.
01:40So we haven't ever had a default of a single student in a single degree in our history.
01:46Not one. Not one.
