Local officials protest against residential eviction for real estate development

Local officials and residents of nine Barangay in Nasugbu, Batangas, led by Vice Mayor Mildred Sanchez, gather at Makati City's Freedom Park on Thursday, June 6, to protest the plans of Roxas and Company, Inc. (“RCI”)

RCI plans to evict an estimated 50,000 residents from Haciendas Palico, Banilad, and Kaylaway (the “Roxas Haciendas”) to make way for a real estate development.

The group also delivered to involved bank companies and different government agencies in their Metro offices the copies of Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 118 that seeks to call on banks not to grant financial support or any extension of loans in favor of RCI until such time that it settles its obligations with affected agrarian reform beneficiaries (“ARBs”) over the disputed lands.
