00:00 Recently released figures show that only 42% of emergency patients who come to the emergency department at LGA
00:10 to receive care within the clinically recommended time frame of 10 minutes.
00:16 What that means is that patients who are classified as category 2, so they have an imminently life-threatening condition
00:23 or they require a time-specific response or they're in acute severe pain and should be treated within 10 minutes
00:32 and 42% of them, only 42%, are receiving the care that they need within that 10 minutes.
00:37 We know that Tasmania has a more elderly population, we know that we also have an chronic disease than other parts of Australia
00:44 so certainly the pressures on the health system are more significant here than they may be in other parts of Australia
00:51 but that doesn't mean that we should accept a health service that is not meeting the needs of Tasmanians.
00:57 We welcome any action that the Tasmanian Government would take to improve funding, increase staff within our hospital
01:04 but what we're seeing is that they're not doing enough, they're not increasing investment in line with the increasing needs within Tasmania.
