Reporter Tom Curphey speaks to Volume Events owner Callum Davies about their pop-up stage at the Trackside Bar and his recent Gef 30 under 30 win

00:00 So I'm joined by Cal Davis, Volume Events owner and Jeff30under30 winner and we're at your little station up at the Trackside.

00:07 So tell me a bit more about that Cal.

00:09 Well, I mean, what is there more to say? We're back up once again.

00:13 This is our third year at Trackside now or the Monster Energy Fan Park.

00:17 And I mean, we couldn't be in a better setting for TT really.

00:20 Not everyone will know what Volume Events is.

00:22 I know you've got a load of DJs, but tell us a bit about how it started and now what you guys are doing.

00:27 Sure. So Volume set up in late 2019 as a little group of us just putting on a DJ night and almost five years later,

00:35 we're still going and we're supporting, you know, loads of local talent and giving local DJs the opportunity

00:42 and the platform to perform in front of a live audience.

00:46 And that's really good for the young people. And we've got a touch on your Jeff30under30 win. Tell us a bit about that.

00:52 Sure. So I mean, I can't honestly still can't believe that I got so many nominations for it.

00:57 I mean, it's brilliant to finally, you know, see the work and the effort, you know,

01:02 put in over the years be appreciated by so many people in the local community.

01:07 You know, it was never done with the intention of becoming how big it is now.

01:12 It was just a few little club nights and, you know, it's blossomed into something amazing for the local music scene.

01:18 And again, you know, once again for nurturing local DJs.

01:22 But yeah, I mean, you know, it's I can't just take all the pride for myself.

01:28 We've got a big group of people working behind us. We know the Volume residents.

01:33 We've got people who come, you know, and support every event.

01:36 It wouldn't it wouldn't have been possible without, you know, the support within the community, which is, you know, just phenomenal.

01:42 Absolutely. And people might want to be looking for you over TT.

01:44 And I know they've got this place, but where else are you over TT at Volume events?

01:47 Sure. So obviously this is our main stage during TT.

01:50 However, we are working alongside the brewery and, you know, we've got DJs playing on the quay.

01:56 It's the after party for Trackside.

01:59 So we've got a load of our residents and local DJs performing across the duration in the bridge and the railway.

02:07 Absolutely. And so people can come here. There's a load of people behind us.

02:10 People can come to Trackside, have a few pints in the evening and listen to some young local talent, basically.

02:15 Yeah, I mean, there's a big variety of DJs. It's not just local talent.

02:19 You know, we've got a variety of DJs playing and, you know, the music they play differs across the musical spectrum.

02:28 So, yeah, come up, enjoy some pints and listen to some good music.
