Winners and Sinners (also known as 5 Lucky Stars) is a 1983 Hong Kong action comedy movie directed by Sammo Hung Kam-bo (洪金寶, who also stars) and starring Jackie Chan (成龍), John Shum Kin-fun (岑建勳), Richard Ng Yiu-hon (吳耀漢), Charlie Chin Hsiang-lin (秦祥林), Stanley Fung Shui-fan (馮淬帆), Cherie Chung Chor-hung (鍾楚紅), Yuen Biao (元彪), Pat Ha Man-jing (夏文汐), Rosamund Kwan Chi-lam (關之琳) and Cecilia Yip Tung (葉童).
Winners & Sinners was the first in the Lucky Stars series of films, a highly successful series in Hong Kong. The film is followed by My Lucky Stars and Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars, insofar as the "Five Lucky Stars" concept and many of the same actors return in those latter films. However, the character names and indeed their roles differ - Stanley Fung's character is the nominal "leader" of the quintet in Winners & Sinners, whereas Sammo Hung's character takes the mantle in the latter films.
When five hopeless criminals are locked up together, they strike up a friendship that they swear will keep them united forever. Upon release, they stick to their promise and decide to go straight by setting up a cleaning company under the name 'Five Stars. However, crime seems to follow them around like a bad smell and the gang accidentally wind up in possession of counterfeiting plates that belong to one of the biggest crime organisations in town. As if this wasn't bad enough, another rival gang seizes this opportunity to obtain some extra business and decides to go after the plates while they are in "neutral" hands. With the help of a rogue cop (Jackie Chan), the gang decide to clear their names and attempt to bring both gangs to justice.
