00:00 England 3 Bosnia and Herzegovina 0 here at St James' Park this evening.
00:06 First England match at St James' Park since 2005 and for 60 minutes the 50,000 or so fans here inside the stadium were hardly treat to a spectacle by any means.
00:19 England were sluggish, were pedestrian at times with the exception of Abruzzese who I thought was very lively particularly in the first half faded before being withdrawn in the second.
00:31 But on the half a mark England win a penalty, Cole Palmer who a lot of my colleagues in the press box were full of praise for Cole Palmer.
00:40 I thought he was fairly average before putting away his penalty and then being taken off but hey what do I know.
00:46 I thought Conor Gallagher of the two Chelsea players on the pitch tonight was the pick of the two and Trent Alexander-Arnold probably my man of the match.
00:55 He made it 2-0 later in the game before Harry Kane came off the bench and made it 3-0.
01:00 Kieran Trippier captained the side tonight before being taken off and replaced where Harry Kane then grabbed the armband.
01:08 Trippier just still getting back to full fitness, we spoke to him at the end of the game and he said it was obviously a proud moment for him to lead England out here at St James' Park with his son as a mascot as well.
01:20 So all in all a nice evening, nice pre-tournament warm up after an initial slow start to the game, slow opening 50-60 minutes.
01:38 But the crowd in the end treaded to a nice 3-0 comfortable win, fairly easy in the end and I thought England were good value for the win overall.
01:44 Plenty of food for thought for Gareth Southgate, I think Anthony Gordon who was here tonight watching from the stands will be, I don't know, probably given some food for thought tonight.
01:56 Because I thought Eze really was lively in that first half, positive, always looking to bring the ball forward.
02:05 He didn't create or threaten the goal as such which is obviously important to consider but looked like a player really trying to earn his place in the side on that left wing, Anthony Gordon's position.
02:19 Then Jack Grealish comes on, another player looking to get in that final squad and gets a good assist for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
02:26 So two players in Anthony Gordon's position when he's not playing, still recovering from injury, have played tonight and made an impact.
02:34 So Iceland on Friday at Wembley becomes a really important game for Anthony Gordon to make that cut on the back of a really, really good season for Newcastle United.
02:44 Which has seen him break into that England squad so hopefully we'll see both Kieran Tripp who is expected to go to Germany and then also Anthony Gordon at Euro 2024.
02:55 Representing England and of course representing in turn Newcastle United.
02:59 So yeah, that's me signing off here for the season at St James' Park.
03:04 It's been a good one in a lot of ways, a frustrating one in other ways.
03:11 We've seen some great moments here, PSG being a highlight, that 4-1 win, several more big wins as well.
03:19 And tonight, just a fitting end to the season, nice to see England return.
03:26 The atmosphere was initially very good but obviously the nature of the game sort of regressed into your typical pre-tournament friendly atmosphere where the crowd just sort of go through the motions a little bit.
03:42 But hey, flag display, referencing three lines, England flags flying around, all in all a positive night here at St James' Park.
