There is nothing simple about the 2025 Indian Scout lineup except for the way Indian describes the bikes. They are cruisers. Classic, American-made V-twins that are just as much about heritage and body lines as they are cornering clearance and technology. You can have your performance (and the new bikes do), but Indian refuses to have that be the Scouts’ personality.

00:00 Hey everyone, welcome to downtown San Francisco and what is essentially a new era for Indian
00:05 Motorcycles Scout Middleweight Cruiser.
00:08 This is an all new lineup for 2025.
00:10 It consists of five bikes.
00:12 You've got the Scout Classic, the Scout Bobber, the Super Scout, the Sport Scout, and the
00:17 101 Scout.
00:18 That's going to be the cream of the crop.
00:20 Got one right there.
00:21 Pretty cool looking.
00:22 We'll cover that a lot in this video.
00:23 Now Indian's got a really cool event planned for us over the next two days.
00:26 We're going to do a coastal ride on the Bobber, the Super Scout, and the Scout Classic down
00:31 to Santa Cruz.
00:32 And then tomorrow we're going to jump on the Sport Scout and the 101 Scout, do a little
00:37 bit higher pace, kind of mountainous ride.
00:39 We're going to get into the canyons and see what the sporty side of this Scout lineup
00:43 is all about.
00:45 Now these bikes are heavily updated for this new model year.
00:50 You've got an all new Speed Plus 1250 engine, which actually makes more torque, more power,
00:55 and it's even 10 pounds lighter, which is really cool.
00:57 You've got a new chassis, a new electronics package, and some new stylings.
01:01 Then going into all the different models, a really different look with bikes like the
01:04 Super Scout right there behind me with its windscreen, saddlebags, and things like that.
01:08 So it's going to be a lot of fun to see how these bikes separate themselves from each
01:12 other and kind of where it stands in this middleweight cruiser category.
01:14 We're going to throw our helmet on in just a minute and go for a ride.
01:18 Let's do this.
01:19 And just like that, we are on the streets of San Francisco.
01:23 So we're starting off the ride with the Bobber, which Indian actually says is their most successful
01:29 Scout.
01:30 So that is the bike that most people have been gravitating towards.
01:33 It'll be interesting to see with all the changes to the lineup and the new models that have
01:36 been introduced if that stays the same.
01:38 But yeah, something about the kind of simple cutoff looks of the Bobber that people are
01:44 drawn to.
01:45 A lot of changes as a whole to the platform.
01:48 So you've got an all new engine.
01:49 You got the new 1250cc engine.
01:52 You got a new frame and then you've got some new styling.
01:55 And then of course you've all dividing those between five models now and a little bit more
02:01 expansive electronics package than you might have expected for a Scout.
02:06 And those are actually almost optional in a way.
02:09 You've got some packages that you can go towards.
02:11 You got a little bit modular in a way you can add to them.
02:15 What we are riding is a Bobber with the limited plus tech package, which gives you ride modes.
02:22 It gives you traction control and it also gives you four inch round touchscreen display,
02:28 which is really nice as well as a push to start system here.
02:34 So a little bit of tech, a little bit of style and for sure should be a lot more performance
02:40 with the new engine and the new chassis.
02:43 Now on this Bobber specifically, obviously because it is a Bobber, you've got some cutoff
02:48 fenders, you've got the really short, small solo seat on it.
02:53 The biggest difference here is going to be you've got two inches of suspension travel
02:57 out back.
02:58 So probably won't be the most comfortable bike for the long haul, but for stuff like
03:05 this riding around town in the city, it does work.
03:09 It gives you the look that you're going to want.
03:11 So and again, apparently it's kind of what people are okay making that sacrifice have
03:17 been in the past because most successful models.
03:19 So so far, a couple of things, a couple of things that we're looking at just initially.
03:25 I was a little bit worried.
03:27 I'm six foot three.
03:28 I was thinking, oh, bike might be a little too small or uncomfortable for me, but right
03:33 away I'm surprised at how well the bike fits.
03:36 It's a longer reach to the handlebar than I would have expected.
03:40 And that's nice.
03:41 So I don't feel super cramped and yeah, nice long tank.
03:45 This tank is actually new for 2025.
03:49 It's a little bit bigger, but that's not really why that they've, they've made the change.
03:54 The change is actually because they've changed the air box on this model.
03:58 So you do get a little bit larger fuel capacity.
04:01 It's very small amount.
04:03 On the outside, they say it's actually maybe even a little bit smaller.
04:07 So, but it is a new tank.
04:10 Technically gives you a little bit different look on this bike.
04:14 And yeah, as a whole, it seems pretty comfortable so far.
04:18 Getting right into the motorcycle and some things that we're noticing around town and
04:23 just that are changes for the new year.
04:25 Now this bike does have a slip assist clutch.
04:29 It's the first year with the slip assist clutch on a Scout.
04:33 It's always interesting for me because the slip assist stuff, okay, for sure.
04:37 It helps a lot with, with lever pull.
04:40 It makes a little bit lighter lever pull.
04:42 It's interesting how now that more manufacturers are putting these on the, on the production
04:45 bikes, the direction they go.
04:47 For me, one thing I've already noticed, there's not a ton of feel in this clutch.
04:52 It's not the first time I've experienced that with some of the newer slip assist clutches.
04:55 It's working so hard to make that a really light clutch pull.
04:58 And yeah, for sure.
04:59 It's sometimes it just gives you a little bit lack of feel.
05:02 And I think especially for us as we just kind of get comfortable with the bike it's, it's
05:07 something that takes a little bit of time.
05:11 I would expect someone who's spent, you know, if this is a bike that you end up owning,
05:16 you're going to get, be a lot more comfortable with it and it's something that you'll get
05:19 used to.
05:20 So, but one of the first things I noticed for sure, if I have to be honest, I did stall
05:25 it the first, first time I tried to pull out of the parking lot.
05:29 So hey, there is that.
05:31 I can be honest with you guys.
05:33 But yeah, overall the Bobber was actually one of the bikes I was maybe even least excited
05:38 to ride.
05:39 Because of that suspension travel, the shorter suspension travel and you know, the more compact
05:44 setup, especially with the handlebars, you don't have risers or anything like that.
05:49 But actually overall, it seems to be a pretty comfortable motorcycle.
05:53 A nice, nice bike for cruising around town.
05:55 And again, you have that little bit more muted compact look.
05:58 So good, good introduction to this new lineup.
06:03 And as we navigate all this chaos out of San Francisco, yeah, it's a fun bike to do it
06:12 on.
06:13 All right, well, we got a little bit of an open stretch of road.
06:16 First chance to really test the Bobber suspension on some rough stuff and had a couple moments.
06:23 So yeah, the city stuff on the Bobber is good.
06:27 It's fun.
06:28 I think that's where the Bobber excels.
06:29 That's where it fits in and it works the best, what Indian designed it for.
06:34 But man, I just need more suspension travel than two inches out back.
06:40 It really does make a difference.
06:41 It's some stuff here.
06:42 You can hear it, my voice.
06:44 It does hurt a little bit.
06:46 It does hurt.
06:47 And I look definitely at some of the other bikes in my rear view mirror and I am a little
06:52 bit envious of the guys with a little bit more suspension travel or even with the windscreen
07:00 and bags and stuff like that.
07:02 So Bobber, great around town bike.
07:05 Am I buying it if I primarily doing highway stuff or things like that, or if I live in
07:12 an area where they don't do a good job of maintaining roads?
07:15 No, it is not the bike I'm going for there.
07:18 But yeah, again, around town, nice and relaxed.
07:22 Ergos for me, I don't know.
07:24 You're definitely a little bit stretched out with the lower.
07:27 Oh no!
07:28 I'm doing this for you guys.
07:30 I'm rolling over the big stuff.
07:32 It's a test for you guys.
07:33 But that's not exactly comfortable.
07:37 It really isn't.
07:38 Yeah, but in terms of ergonomics and just rider positioning, I'm a little bit more keen
07:45 for something that's a little bit more upright.
07:47 This I'm almost hunched over in a way because reaching over.
07:51 Like I said, it's a little bit of a longer reach to the handlebar than I would have expected.
07:55 And then, yeah, the lower handlebar.
07:57 So great for around town, just kind of gives you that.
08:01 It's almost aggressive stance in a way.
08:05 But I would go for something a little bit more upright.
08:07 Personally, as far as the forward controls, I actually like the positioning of them.
08:10 I don't have an issue.
08:11 I've got longer legs.
08:12 And so it's nice for me.
08:17 Be curious to try the mid controls that are available as an accessory.
08:20 But forward controls, I'm not buying them.
08:23 I think we got a little bit more highway riding on the bomber, which again, probably not the
08:29 best bike for it, honestly.
08:30 I really did enjoy the around town stuff.
08:32 I will be excited to jump on something, another bike just up the road here.
08:37 I think in a little bit we'll swap over and see what the hell it's all about.
08:41 All right, well, here we are.
08:43 Arguably, if you could see it back there, one of the most iconic locations in California.
08:48 And yeah, one of what Indian at least calls one of the most iconic American motorcycles.
08:53 So a couple of first thoughts on our time with the bobber.
08:56 I was actually surprised by the ergonomics.
08:58 It was one thing coming into this ride.
08:59 I was like, I'm not sure how I'm going to fit on that thing, especially the bobber with
09:04 the lower handlebar and things like that.
09:06 The solo seat, obviously not the most accommodating.
09:09 It's not the biggest seat ever.
09:10 The two inches of rear suspension travel is a little bit of a limitation.
09:14 I did roll over some bumps on purpose to see what that was like.
09:17 And yeah, I mean, it's it ain't plush, let's say that.
09:21 But the front front suspension actually works really well.
09:24 It absorbs some of that initial hit and just kind of brace yourself a little bit as you
09:27 roll over like potholes and things like that for the rear.
09:31 It's not super jarring, but for sure, I think I'm going to like a little bit more suspension
09:35 travel when we move into the other models.
09:37 But as a whole, yeah, I really enjoy the engine.
09:40 It's great for around town, a little bit of a struggle with the clutch.
09:43 I don't like the feel necessarily on the new slip assist clutch.
09:46 Overall, really great first impressions of this motorcycle.
09:49 Again, the biggest thing being that it's a lot more comfortable for a taller rider than
09:52 I would have expected.
09:54 And the bobber itself, just a nice clean look.
09:57 And hey, it is their most popular model for a reason.
10:01 Well, we've officially made it onto bike number two, that being the Super Scout.
10:07 Honestly, maybe my least favorite in terms of looks, but probably what will be the best
10:12 option for a little bit of this coastal cruising.
10:16 Indian calls it light touring.
10:18 So you've got this windshield up front.
10:21 It is quick release.
10:22 Now, interestingly, the one thing Indian says about that and the windshield as a whole,
10:28 they say back to like rally bikes in the 40s, 50s, where guys were basically touring with
10:35 them and they got to their location and then maybe strip them down and ride around.
10:39 So that's kind of the vibe they're going for.
10:42 Really nice side bags on this.
10:44 Now, the Super Scout, the one thing about it is that it only comes in the limited plus
10:49 tech package.
10:50 So that's going to be, again, all your electronics, ride modes.
10:57 And then you've also got obviously the four inch display, this touchscreen display that
11:02 I'm really liking, and then the push button start.
11:06 So also moving up from the Bobber, you now do have your three inches of suspension travel,
11:14 which for me, I have learned pretty quickly is very important.
11:19 So liking that already, already feel the rear end just up a little bit and the bike doesn't
11:25 just feel as squatted.
11:28 Definitely you've got this, well, you've got this different handlebar set up, so I'm not
11:31 reached out as far.
11:32 It's a more neutral and natural riding position for me.
11:37 Automatically, I feel a lot more comfortable having ridden the Bobber for the amount, even
11:42 relatively short amount of time that we did.
11:45 Back was already starting to hurt a little bit.
11:47 I just, I appreciate the more, I get what they're doing in terms of looks and the feel
11:51 and the emotion that that gives you.
11:54 But this more natural and upright riding position, especially here on this bike with a little
12:00 bit just more relaxed, I appreciate that.
12:03 And how about that view?
12:05 Sorry folks, we got to take a second to enjoy that.
12:09 There's nothing like the California coast.
12:12 Okay.
12:14 So yeah, on this bike here, yeah, the ergonomics are obviously a big difference.
12:20 A big thing you notice right away, wind protection, already feeling that.
12:25 That's nice.
12:27 The temperature had dropped, so having a little bit of wind protection is really nice to get
12:31 out of that cold, cold breeze.
12:33 You got a lot more chrome treatment on the bike here.
12:36 So you'll notice that in the chrome handlebar, but also I think on this bike, the valve covers
12:43 are on the engine are actually chrome.
12:46 And then you've got some chrome treatments on the exhaust, things like that.
12:49 Interesting note on, on this bike or kind of the platform as a whole, you might've noticed
12:54 that the old exhaust was a two into two.
12:58 Now on this bike, it is a two into one exhaust.
13:02 And while the exhaust as a whole was redesigned for current Euro five plus emission standards,
13:08 the bigger reason for going into that two, going to that two into one exhaust design
13:14 is that that allowed them, gave them more flexibility in terms of the saddlebag options.
13:20 So specifically on, on this bike here for touring duty, light touring duty, you've got
13:26 the bigger saddlebags, which are nice.
13:29 They are not lockable or waterproof.
13:32 However, Indian says that they are water resistant.
13:36 So something to keep in mind.
13:38 One thing I have noticed at least getting off onto the bobber, we were able to do some
13:44 acceleration pulls and this engine is stout, man.
13:48 It really does pull hard.
13:51 I haven't ridden the previous generation Scout in quite a while, so I'm not going to do any
13:56 direct comparisons.
13:58 What I will say here is that on this, in this engine with this 1250, man, that, that mid
14:04 range is really strong.
14:07 Most notably from like, I was really seeing it from about 3,500 to 4,000 RPM.
14:13 It's just, man, it's got a ton of grunt to it.
14:16 And the nice thing actually is that it doesn't rev out too quick.
14:19 So you've got a lot of RPM to play with.
14:23 The nice thing there, I think we'll maybe notice it in other parts of our ride is that
14:27 you're not going to be shifting as much.
14:29 So when you've got such a wide power curve, it just, it gives you a little bit more flexibility.
14:36 So that's a, that's a big thing.
14:38 Another thing wrapping up with some of the engine stuff.
14:40 One of the things that we noticed obviously is, is not really loving the clutch and it
14:45 made kind of some of the stop and go stuff a little bit more complicated.
14:50 What I'm thinking too, is that might be made a little bit more difficult even by the, the
14:56 lighter crank in this bike.
14:58 Now that lighter crank is going to allow this thing to spin up quicker, but a lighter crank
15:03 makes it a little bit harder to leave a stop.
15:06 So and kind of get the bike going.
15:08 So for now we're kind of just throwing a bandaid on it and just giving the thing a lot of extra
15:13 revs to make sure we don't stall the thing and embarrass ourselves.
15:16 Again, I think if you own the bike, it's going to be a little bit better.
15:20 And you'll, well, not, not better.
15:22 You're just going to get used to it and, and yeah, be a little bit more smooth with it
15:26 than we are.
15:27 We're kind of, we're riding the thing a little bit aggressive right now in the stop and go
15:31 stuff that we had been doing just to kind of avoid again, making a fool out of ourselves
15:35 and stalling the thing.
15:36 But it seems to be something a lot of people have commented on.
15:39 It shouldn't something definitely I think Indian will want to address is this a little
15:43 bit better clutch, more clutch feel in this thing.
15:46 Now we've got just open road, beautiful coastline views.
15:51 And yeah, I mean, this, this is really where the super scout is going to shine.
15:55 You've obviously got your added wind protection.
15:57 You know, it definitely makes a difference.
16:00 I'm so much happier on the super scout here than on the bobber, at least in this environment,
16:07 for sure.
16:08 I mean, the bobber fits in great around town, but on, on bigger open highways and stuff,
16:13 this is, this is definitely where the super scout really shines.
16:18 The only thing from an ergonomic standpoint and a rider position standpoint that I would
16:24 probably look to adjust if I own this motorcycle is in the seat.
16:27 Now this is obviously Indian pitches this bike as a light touring bike.
16:31 You've obviously got, you know, again, the, the windscreen and you've got the saddlebags,
16:35 but the seat still feels a little bit narrow and unsupportive and it, uh, it's just really
16:41 small and narrow at the front edge of it.
16:44 I'm maybe a little bit bigger rider than the average scout owner will be.
16:49 Uh, but yeah, I think a little bit more supportive seat if you are going to actually be putting
16:53 some miles on this thing.
16:54 So which, uh, I think that's, that's really what, who Indian has built this, this version
16:59 of the scout for.
17:01 But otherwise, uh, yeah, I think this is a, a nice kind of extension of the lineup.
17:07 Obviously this is a new model for 2025.
17:09 It expands the scout family and uh, we got one for it.
17:13 We're going for it.
17:14 They're letting us over.
17:15 And uh, I think, yeah, I think this is going to attract a lot of customers because it shows
17:22 the versatility of the platform, which is nice, but there are people that are going
17:27 to go on and do some more miles and on this added wind protection and the comfort, you
17:31 know, from this swept back handlebar, it does make a difference.
17:34 So actually really enjoy my time on the super scout here.
17:37 This is a, probably the bike, if I'm being completely honest that I was again, least,
17:43 least excited to ride.
17:44 I think visually it's not as appealing to me.
17:46 I think you lose some of the aggression from the other bikes.
17:49 Um, but actually it, uh, it's very functional.
17:53 It's a very functional machine.
17:55 And in that sense, I think this is, this is a neat option.
17:59 It's also again, just really cool about how different Indian can make the platform look
18:05 and appear and how much of a different emotion and feeling they can evoke from the bike,
18:09 uh, by, by just adding these couple of components, right.
18:13 Whether it's even just from a look standpoint with all the added Chrome, but then having
18:17 the, uh, having the windscreen, the bags.
18:19 Um, yeah, I think it's a, this is a, a neat platform.
18:23 I think we are essentially all wrapped on this motorcycle again, really enjoyed it for,
18:29 for this kind of highway cruising, cruising along the coast.
18:32 This is an excellent package for that.
18:34 I think, uh, for the person who wants to do some light touring, uh, this is actually going
18:39 to be a bike that's worth looking at.
18:41 Uh, next up, I believe we are going to jump on the classic scout classic.
18:47 So that'll be interesting.
18:48 We're basically just going to, we're going to add some swoopy fairings and we're going
18:52 to lose our, our windshield and saddlebags, which is saddlebags actually have been nice.
18:56 It is a, it's been nice to be able to access that, have a little storage for our backpack.
19:00 Um, again, they aren't lockable, but very easy.
19:03 So they're really easy to open up actually.
19:06 Um, and, uh, you know, throw your stuff in and grab them, whatever the case may be.
19:10 But, uh, yeah, actually enjoyed my time here on the super scout and, uh, minus the price,
19:16 minus the price and a little bit, uh, I could go for a little bit more seat support.
19:20 Again, seat is just a little bit small for, um, I think for touring for any amount of
19:26 serious miles.
19:27 So other than that, it's been a good time and I cannot argue with the views.
19:32 It's just absolutely incredible.
19:34 Uh, you gotta love motorcycles and where they'll take you.
19:38 All right.
19:39 Onto the, uh, the classic next.
19:41 All right.
19:42 Well, we have lost a windscreen and side bags and we have gained some swoopy fenders.
19:48 That means we are on the scout classic.
19:53 And uh, yeah, I mean, it's, it's not a lot to talk about coming off the super scout because
19:57 we've got a lot of the same finishes.
19:59 You got the, the kind of the, the Chrome finishes, the swoopy handlebar for more relaxed ergonomics.
20:04 Again, you do get the more classic look with the, uh, kind of longer fenders to this bike,
20:11 but as a whole, this is a lot like the super scout.
20:14 This is kind of in a lot of ways, your base model scout.
20:17 Uh, it does have the three inches of rear suspension travel.
20:21 I keep, will keep saying that because it does make a big difference over the bobber.
20:26 Yes, I understand the bobber being got kind of entry both in terms of price and features
20:31 and styling.
20:32 Uh, but man, you got a bit of a glutton for punishment to, uh, to jump on that bobber
20:37 for, for long distances or if you're not riding on perfectly smooth roads because that two
20:41 inches of rear suspension travel is tough.
20:43 Uh, yeah, so not a lot to talk about outside of the, the extra Chrome finishes on this
20:48 bike.
20:49 So I will mention a couple of other things that I have learned throughout the ride.
20:51 Uh, some things we like, some things we don't.
20:54 The biggest thing is, uh, I will say the transmission is not my favorite.
20:58 So this is the same transmission as before it's been carried over and it's just a little
21:03 bit clunky.
21:04 It's okay.
21:05 I haven't had any like false neutrals or anything like that, but, uh, yeah, it's, uh, as the
21:11 bike gets more advanced and more modern, that is something where you're starting to notice
21:15 it feel that component itself is a little bit more outdated.
21:19 Uh, the tank is, uh, I think I mentioned earlier, the tank on the outside is a touch smaller
21:25 on the inside.
21:26 It's a touch larger.
21:27 Uh, this wasn't because they didn't was trying to add fuel capacity or shrink the size of
21:32 the tank from the outside, make it look smaller.
21:34 It is because they have been trying, they're trying to accommodate a new airbox.
21:38 Now, all that being said, uh, this bike actually gets a little bit better range.
21:44 Now that is because a combination of the tank being just a little bit bigger, but also because
21:49 this engine is more fuel efficient.
21:51 So Indian says that this bike will go about 20 more miles on a tank of fuel compared to
21:58 the previous generation.
21:59 So that's worth noting.
22:01 I don't think there's anyone out there who has ever asked for less range.
22:04 So, uh, not something Indian was necessarily trying to do, but, uh, it's, uh, you know,
22:11 it's a nice little side benefit.
22:13 So other than that, uh, yeah, you know, ergonomics are all the same basically as a super scout.
22:19 You got this, uh, swept back handlebar and, uh, it's quite relaxed.
22:22 I'm going to keep saying it, but I do wish the seat was just a little bit bigger.
22:27 I wish I had a little bit more support.
22:28 Now on this bike, you're not going to be doing theoretically, you won't be doing as much
22:32 touring.
22:33 You're going to be doing a little bit more around town, casual riding.
22:35 So maybe not as, uh, as big of a thing, but, uh, yeah, for me, I wish the seat was a little
22:39 bit bigger.
22:40 I'll be excited to try some accessory options and here we go.
22:44 Uh, yeah.
22:45 So overall, this is, uh, it's nice.
22:48 It was kind of interesting to start off on the bobber and then go to the super scout.
22:51 And now we're here on basically what is a much more basic model, but, uh, importantly,
22:56 a bike that Indian feels offers a timeless look to it.
23:00 That's the thing.
23:01 This is just have a classic cruiser look and, uh, yeah, you got all the other stuff.
23:06 You got the, you got the 1250 engine with 105 horsepower in this, you got the all new
23:11 frame and the, uh, in the case of this bike here with our, uh, uh, limited plus tech package,
23:17 you've got the, uh, ride modes, traction control, and, uh, the touchscreen display.
23:21 So nice features.
23:24 And, uh, I'm, I'm missing my wind protection a little bit, uh, from the super scout.
23:28 I really enjoyed having that, but, uh, yeah, I think for someone who's not going to be
23:31 doing as much highway riding or something like that or touring, this is a, this is an
23:36 equally good option.
23:37 So something, another thing to consider.
23:39 Uh, also maybe you just like the more classic look.
23:42 I don't know.
23:43 Not, uh, not judging you for it because it is a clean looking motorcycle.
23:47 We have arrived.
23:48 Good old Santa Cruz.
23:51 Absolutely beautiful day.
23:53 Nice to wrap it up on the old classic here.
23:56 Uh, definitely enjoy this.
23:58 Uh, I think this is a lot like this ball.
24:00 This bike is a lot like the barber in that, uh, it definitely feels better suited to kind
24:06 of, I don't want to say slow speed cruising, but just traditional cruising.
24:10 I mean, obviously, um, the super scout is, it does feel like a bike that you actually
24:16 can do some touring on.
24:19 And uh, you know, in the, obviously the one-on-one and the sport, which we haven't ridden yet,
24:23 but those are going to be bikes that are going to be a little bit more spirited and have
24:26 a little bit more fun with.
24:28 Uh, this bike is just that kind of quintessential cruiser.
24:31 It, uh, it's relaxed in the ways that it needs to be with just, uh, some, some really strong
24:36 underpinnings to it.
24:37 So, uh, did get to play around a little bit with the display here and I get to plug in
24:44 the, uh, directions to our hotel that we're heading to, which is nice.
24:48 Nice to get to experience that a little bit.
24:51 And uh, yeah, I just, I think this is a good example of how well Indian has integrated
24:56 the electronics into this platform.
24:59 Uh, one of the big things for them is, is adding that stuff and not necessarily the
25:04 display cause they've been doing that for, for a while now, but, uh, you know, ride modes
25:09 and trash control and, and in this case, yes, the display, um, without it, without it feeling
25:14 overwhelming without it completely changing the experience and, uh, changing that, that
25:20 kind of vibe that you get, uh, from the scout and especially a bike like this, the classic.
25:25 All right.
25:27 That's a three bikes down two to go a day one of, of two days.
25:32 And uh, yeah, so far so good actually really enjoying the scout.
25:34 It's really interesting.
25:35 I think the big takeaway from today is realizing how versatile and flexible the platform is.
25:39 I think that's, uh, one of the big gains that we've had in, in modern manufacturing and,
25:45 you know, we've, we've always seen it in the auto industry, but now you're especially seeing
25:49 it in a motorcycle industry where a manufacturer can build a platform and then adapt it based
25:54 on kind of the components that they, that they're using for each version.
25:58 And you really see that in the scout platform.
26:00 You have everything that we rode today from the, the bobber to the super scout, uh, you
26:05 know, to even, even just the classic, it, it totally changes the experience.
26:09 Uh, and it, it makes it so where each bike works in a certain environment really well,
26:14 uh, especially the bobber and the super scout, the bobber is great for around town, obviously
26:18 not a ton of suspension travel, but, uh, you know, again, it's all about that kind of looks
26:23 and feel and you get that from the bobber around town.
26:25 And then the super scout just feels really flexible out on the highway, better wind protection.
26:29 It's just more comfortable, especially with those relaxed ergonomics.
26:33 So yeah, so far so good.
26:34 Now tomorrow we've got an even better day planned because we're going to do a bunch
26:38 more kind of a little bit more spirited riding on the, on the sport and the one Oh one.
26:42 So really looking forward to that.
26:44 And I think that's just going to, uh, bring this whole thing together and just, uh, really
26:48 show what this, this platform is capable of.
26:51 Um, yeah, it's, it's been fun so far.
26:53 We've been blessed with some great weather and looking forward to doing it, uh, doing
26:57 it again in a few hours.
26:59 More scout.
27:00 All right.
27:01 So it's day two.
27:02 We're still in Santa Cruz, but we're heading back to San Francisco today.
27:04 Uh, we're going to be riding the sport scout and the one Oh one scout.
27:07 I am starting on the red one Oh one there, which in my opinion is probably the best looking,
27:12 uh, bike in this lineup.
27:14 Man, it looks so good.
27:15 Uh, inverted fork on that bike.
27:17 Uh, you've also got the, uh, piggyback shocks.
27:19 They're fully adjustable.
27:20 And again, you do have that 111 horsepower tune on that thing.
27:24 So this thing should be pretty cool.
27:25 We got a lot more spirited ride today.
27:27 Yesterday was kind of all about cruising the coast.
27:30 And today, uh, we're doing a bunch of back roads, a bunch of twisty stuff.
27:32 There should be a lot of fun, a little bit more fast pace.
27:35 And uh, we're going to see what these bikes are all about.
27:38 Well here it is the bike.
27:40 Uh, honestly, probably most excited to ride the one Oh one scout mentioned earlier that
27:45 the big difference here on this bike is that you've got the fully adjustable inverted fork,
27:49 the piggyback shocks that are adjustable.
27:52 You've also got a dual disc brakes and a Brembo calipers, which is a really nice upgrade.
27:58 We've done just a couple little, uh, small loops around the downtown area here in Santa
28:03 Cruz, uh, for some photo stuff and already sounds silly, but already I could tell this
28:10 suspension is, is such an upgrade.
28:13 Uh, just hitting a couple of manhole covers and stuff like that.
28:16 We'll see a little bit more what it's like, uh, when we get into some of the twisties
28:19 and some of the faster pace stuff.
28:21 But uh, yeah, honestly, it is, you can already tell a difference there and that suspension
28:26 brakes are a little bit, uh, touchier and in a good way.
28:31 And uh, you know, also you've got that added power, right?
28:34 And just overall, this thing feels a lot more snappy, a lot more aggressive, really, uh,
28:40 really like what I'm feeling so far on this thing.
28:43 Uh, ergonomic wise, so I have the, uh, the stock bars for the one-on-one, which is a
28:48 six inch riser.
28:50 And I like the ergos that we've got.
28:52 Uh, uh, there's a bike here, I should say that Indian has with a, I'm just going to
28:57 stop right here real quick for some folks, uh, with a 10 inch risers.
29:02 And I might even like those a little bit more.
29:04 Again, I'm a taller rider.
29:05 Say with the angle of the riser, it comes back a little bit, so you're not reached out
29:09 as far.
29:10 That's been one of the surprises for me is that you actually are stretched out a bit
29:14 on this bike.
29:15 Again, I'd say the most on the bobber, but even on this bike here, you it's, I've, I've
29:20 got pretty long arms and they're almost fully extended.
29:24 Um, reaching out over to the bar.
29:26 So, um, but I do like the, the setup, uh, even more so than, than the other bikes.
29:31 I think it looks cool, but also for me as a taller rider, it, it does fit pretty well
29:35 too.
29:36 It's funny how quick we went from being, uh, being on the coast at the beach to being
29:39 up here in some really cool roads, uh, already.
29:43 Yeah.
29:44 So the biggest thing I could tell about this one-on-one, it's just way more planted through
29:47 the middle of the corner.
29:48 You can be a lot more aggressive with it.
29:50 Uh, yesterday riding the bobber, the super scout, a couple of those things, when you'd
29:54 hit a bump, it would bounce you around quite a bit.
29:57 Um, you know, the suspension could only do so much.
30:00 It, whereas this upgraded stuff, you know, the inverted fork is man, it handles so much
30:06 better.
30:07 It's got some, some plushness as you hit the bump, but also it's got that just really good
30:11 support when you're pushing the bike and man, you can actually ride this thing.
30:16 It's it, to me, it really is the kind of performance cruiser that so many people, uh, want.
30:22 You know, I think this is the type of bike where a couple of years ago people would buy,
30:26 uh, a stock motorcycle and try to throw brakes and suspension at it and get it to the level
30:31 that something like this is at where you're buying it off the showroom floor.
30:35 And man, it is a lot of fun.
30:38 It's really capable.
30:40 And uh, the other thing is the engine.
30:42 I know it's only six horsepower and torque's actually the same, but it does, you feel it,
30:48 this thing, it just, it's, they, they've woken it up quite a bit.
30:51 It, it, it really does feel a lot more responsive.
30:54 It has that grunt, you know, already the, the stock tuning has a lot of that mid range
31:00 grunt and this just has more.
31:02 Um, it, uh, it makes it really fun to just drive off of a corner, especially again, because
31:08 the bike's not moving around as much.
31:10 It just plants and go.
31:11 So man, I'm really, really liking this thing.
31:15 Uh, it's everything, everything it promises to be, which is, uh, a middleweight cruiser
31:20 with that's performance oriented, but still a cruiser.
31:24 It's still very much gives you cruiser vibes on like maybe, you know, the sports dress,
31:29 Harley Davidson sports dress, which, which is a little bit farther on the performance
31:33 side of things.
31:34 This gives you all the feelings that a cruiser that you want from a cruiser, uh, with, with
31:39 just enough chassis performance and engine performance to just have a blast riding with
31:45 your buddies.
31:46 Uh, I will say, you know, if, if you're shopping for a scout and you know, when Indian finally
31:52 releases the information and opportunity to update the, the ECU tuning, the engine tuning,
31:59 I would say it's absolutely worthwhile.
32:01 If you don't go with the one-on-one, uh, it definitely wakes this, this engine up, uh,
32:06 but you know, again, uh, six horsepower and it, it really does make a difference.
32:11 It's uh, it's worthwhile.
32:13 I think, I mean, depending on the price, but if it's, you know, it's a couple hundred dollars,
32:16 it's, it's definitely going to be worth it.
32:19 And uh, if you're all right with spending the money, man, this one-on-one might be the
32:23 way to go.
32:24 This thing is an absolute blast.
32:26 I've had so much fun riding it.
32:28 Um, you can ride it up in the, in the twisties like this, have some fun.
32:32 Um, and then, you know, still, I think it's still going to make a great cruiser for around
32:36 town and stuff like that.
32:38 Uh, the only, only thing I will say on the, as far as negatives with this bike, you still
32:44 are limited in terms of cornering clearance.
32:47 So there is no added cornering clearance, uh, compared to the other bikes.
32:52 And yeah, you're definitely still going to scrape if you're, if you're riding at a, at
32:56 a decent pace.
32:57 So, um, maybe you're here, maybe not, but we definitely did scrape down a little bit
33:00 here and there, but otherwise, uh, man, such a, such a fun motorcycle to ride and just
33:06 enough performance to allow you to push.
33:08 And I think the cool thing is, uh, with the bike is that I think it's a bike that you,
33:13 there's enough performance to it where you're not going to outgrow it.
33:15 I think that's a lot of people's concerns with, uh, I don't know, a middleweight cruiser
33:20 in general is that, okay, maybe you'll get into the platform and, and then you'll outgrow
33:25 it, um, pretty quickly and be looking to move up where I think this one has enough performance
33:29 to it, enough style, enough character that this is a bike that you can hold onto for
33:35 a while.
33:36 In my opinion, I think this is something that's going to keep you satisfied and, you know,
33:41 keep you having fun every time you, uh, pull the thing out of the garage.
33:44 So really, really happy with this bike.
33:47 We're supposed to jump on the sport next and it'll be interesting to see kind of the differences
33:51 and go back to that standard suspension.
33:53 And, uh, I think I'm going to miss this thing.
33:56 I really do.
33:57 All right.
33:58 We're saying bye to our one-on-one that we were riding.
33:59 I think that thing is a lot of fun.
34:02 Hands down so far, my favorite bike of the lineup.
34:05 Just it's, it's got the performance you want.
34:08 It's uh, it's still got all the, the scout vibes to it, but just, it works really well.
34:14 Uh, suspension is a big, big benefit over the other models for sure.
34:17 So a little pit stop, beautiful place for it here.
34:22 And then, uh, we're going to jump on the sport, head to lunch.
34:25 And then after lunch, we're heading directly back to San Francisco.
34:28 So good, a good day so far on these things and, uh, Oh, I'm fun.
34:34 A lot of fun on that one-on-one.
34:37 And boom, just like that.
34:38 We're back on a motorcycle again.
34:40 You'll notice, uh, so sports scout, I should say, but a 10 inch risers on this one, which
34:45 is an accessory.
34:46 It's the tallest, uh, clamps that, uh, bar risers, I should say that Indian offers as
34:51 an accessory.
34:53 And uh, you've still got the moto bar, like what we had on the one-on-one, obviously completely
34:58 different than the classic and super scout and even the bobber.
35:02 Uh, man, this riding position, I think it's pretty cool.
35:05 Uh, definitely not as commanding of a riding position as, uh, with the one-on-one with
35:10 the six inch risers, but, uh, you sure feel cool doing it.
35:14 Uh, a couple other accessories on this bike here, we've got these Brazoma mirrors, and
35:19 then we've got little small saddlebags on the back that I was able to throw, uh, just
35:25 my sweatshirt in.
35:26 And, uh, yeah, I mean, honestly, if I'm being honest, I really like the look of this bike
35:31 and especially with the accessories on it, but, uh, just a few corners in and I am, I
35:38 am missing the brakes and suspension from the one-on-one.
35:41 It's, they really, really do make a difference.
35:44 This, it kind of takes you back to just cruising.
35:48 Honestly, it's just like, okay, you don't need to push as much and ride as fast.
35:52 It's just this, this bike with the, with the standard traditional suspension and single
35:56 brake disc, it's just, you kind of go back into just cruising with your buddies, having
36:00 fun, relax a little bit more relaxed pace, honestly, from the notes that I've been referencing
36:05 when we stop, uh, when you're, when you're talking fully kitted, basically a fully kitted
36:11 sport versus a fully kitted one-on-one and by fully kitted, I mean the limited plus tech
36:17 package.
36:19 It's about a $1,300 difference.
36:22 And so what that means is for, uh, by saving $1,300, you're losing again, the suspension
36:30 brakes and the paint that I really actually liked.
36:33 At first I thought the paint, you know, calling the paint a big upgrade on the one-on-one
36:37 was a little bit silly, but having ridden the thing and be staring at the tank, it really
36:42 is a nice paint job that they've got on that.
36:45 And it is probably worth a little extra money.
36:48 Um, yeah, but a $1,300 upgrade between, uh, between, uh, the sport and the one-on-one
36:55 and I don't know, you can save yourself some bucks, but that one-on-one was pretty good.
37:00 Uh, as far as, as far as this goes, handling wise, we can talk a little bit about that
37:05 because, uh, I think the, in terms of agility and nimbleness, uh, very similar between the
37:11 one-on-one and this, obviously you can be a little bit more aggressive with the one-on-one
37:15 just because of the added performance out of the suspension and the composure.
37:20 But overall, I mean, there's a little bit of weight as you tip the bike in, but it's
37:26 not, it doesn't feel incredibly heavy, uh, steering.
37:31 I'm actually pretty surprised at the pace that we're able to go on these things and,
37:35 and have fun and not feel like we're working too hard.
37:38 It depends on the bar setup for sure.
37:41 You know, yesterday riding the Super Scout and the Classic with the wider kind of swept
37:46 back handlebars, uh, the ergonomics on that didn't really lend itself to comfortable,
37:51 I'll try to be nice to this bicyclist, uh, didn't really lend itself to aggressive riding
37:56 obviously, but I felt it more in my shoulders.
37:59 And the one thing I will say about that, depending on, uh, the bikes in the lineup, the different
38:04 handlebars that come stock with, and then you've got the forward controls, the mid controls
38:08 and the handlebars that are available, handlebars and risers, I should say, that are available
38:12 as accessories, Indian says that you've got about 30 different ergonomic position options.
38:18 Well, I had an idea that this was going to be the case, but the last couple of miles
38:22 on the highway really proved the point that the Sport Scout, despite the name, despite
38:26 them moving the sport name versus Rogue, this is a bike that's definitely meant for more
38:31 just highway cruising, just open, open road.
38:34 You know, it's not a bike that I would, I would go toward if I was looking for something
38:39 that I wanted to ride up in the canyons with friends, ride aggressively, that really is
38:43 the territory of the one-on-one.
38:44 I know you're probably tired of hearing me say it by now and compare those, but that
38:48 one-on-one is so good.
38:49 The limitation here really is that suspension, you're just bouncing off stuff and there's
38:53 only so much that you could do to ride around those things.
38:56 Sometimes you hit some, some big bumps or potholes and man, it, it really is jarring
39:01 on this thing.
39:02 That being said, I mean, I do like the look again, we've got the 10 inch risers, the accessory
39:06 risers on this thing at the moto bar.
39:08 It is a very cool look and feel for me.
39:10 If I was looking for a bike just to commute on, the majority of my commute is just on
39:15 the freeway.
39:16 I think it would be great.
39:17 It's a bike that, you know, I could pick up, I would pick up if I was doing a bunch of
39:21 my riding style, it was more just cruising down to the beach on the weekends, things
39:25 like that.
39:26 But the one-on-one has such an advantage if you are doing more aggressive spirited riding.
39:30 The only other thing I did want to mention after a couple of miles at speed on the freeway
39:36 is that you do get a little bit of vibration from this engine, you know, through the seat,
39:40 basically at about 85 miles per hour.
39:43 It's nothing super hindering.
39:45 It's just, if you are planning really long days on your Scout, then maybe that would
39:50 be something to consider or something to think about.
39:53 For me, it's, I think it's something I'd expect from a, from a, a bigger V-twin engine like
39:57 this.
39:58 So that's, that's kind of the final thoughts on the old sport Scout here.
40:03 We're, again, if you could see the city here, we're just a couple of miles, couple of minutes
40:08 from our hotel in downtown San Francisco.
40:10 All right, just like that, we're back.
40:13 We're back to where we started here down in downtown San Francisco.
40:16 I won't go over too much.
40:17 I'm not going to recap all these bikes because we've talked about it so much over the last
40:21 two days and all the miles that we put on these things.
40:24 The big takeaways for me, I think the biggest thing is that how flexible and versatile this
40:28 platform is.
40:29 I think Indian has done a really good job where you've got so many different flavors
40:32 and they all work well in certain environments.
40:35 So if there's, there's some type of specific type of riding that you enjoy most or that
40:39 type that you do, there is a bike likely for you.
40:44 For me, if I had to rank them, and that was one of my goals in coming here was to rank
40:48 these bikes in order of, let's say, least to favorite, least favorite to favorite.
40:52 I'm going to start by saying my least favorite is the classic.
40:56 It just doesn't do a lot for me.
40:58 There's nothing special about it.
41:00 It's a good looking motorcycle in the sense that it does have those just kind of nice
41:04 relaxed vibes to it.
41:06 But for me, there's nothing really special to it when you compare it to some of the other
41:09 stuff.
41:10 Now the second least favorite, and this one might come as a little bit of a surprise because
41:14 it is their most popular Scout model, but the Bobber, the Bobber for me, I just can't
41:19 ride something with that two inches of suspension travel out back.
41:21 It's just not enough.
41:22 You've got to, man, you got to be a glutton for punishment.
41:25 If you're riding that thing, you got to have quick reflexes and be able to navigate around
41:30 every single pothole or bump, manhole cover that you come across, or else you're going
41:34 to just hurt yourself.
41:37 It's pretty painful when you hit a big bump on that thing.
41:40 Number three of least favorite, or let's say we're starting to get into some of our favorites.
41:44 I will go with the Sport here.
41:45 Maybe a little bit of a surprise, but the Sport I think is cool because you get a lot
41:51 of the looks, you get the blacked out treatments.
41:53 And I don't know, it just, to me, it looks good.
41:55 There's especially here with some of these accessories on it, you can see the potential
41:58 of it.
41:59 Yeah, it's an enjoyable motorcycle and I think it's a really good base for something that
42:02 you'd want to build.
42:04 Maybe even more of a surprise, my number two favorite is going to be the Super Scout.
42:10 Now I like the Super Scout because again, that flexibility that it gives you, this is
42:15 a bike that you really could go light touring on, put a lot more miles on, and then it's
42:19 really easy to pull that windscreen off.
42:22 You've got the added luggage space on it.
42:24 I think it's just a bike that you could do more with.
42:27 You obviously still have basically all the bones of the other machines.
42:32 Also with the 16 inch wheels, yes, but I really do think that bike will satisfy a lot of people.
42:38 I really enjoyed cruising the coast on that thing.
42:41 And maybe no surprise, my favorite bike of all this Scout lineup is the 101.
42:47 Throwing that suspension and that brake package, and then also including the upgraded ECU tuning
42:52 with the 111 horsepower, it really shows the full potential of the Scout platform.
42:58 It's super interesting because that was one of the things that Indians said about the
43:01 bike is they'd had that 101 name, they knew they wanted to use it, they didn't have the
43:07 bike for it yet, and they felt like this was the bike that was really deserving of that
43:11 101 name.
43:13 That bike, in my opinion, is everything I'd want this Scout platform to be and to offer.
43:19 It's got the performance, but it's still got that V-twin cruiser feel to it.
43:23 I really enjoy that machine.
43:25 I think that's definitely the best starting point.
43:29 If you've got other needs, if you want something, again, with some touring capabilities, if
43:33 you like the looks of the Bobber, yes, those are enjoyable packages in their own right,
43:37 but that 101 is really where it's at.
43:40 I still struggle a little bit with the pricing on some of those models, and especially that
43:44 Super Scout and the 101 are a little bit pricey.
43:48 But hey, it seems to be where the world is going these days for some reason.
43:54 If you're in the market and you're all right with spending a little bit of money, putting
43:58 down a little cash for something new, this new platform is definitely an improvement
44:01 over the previous generation Scouts.
44:03 That engine is really good.
44:05 That mid-range grunt on the thing is phenomenal.
44:07 Obviously, again, with that steel frame, maybe you'll do a little bit more customizing with
44:11 this thing.
44:12 As a whole, really enjoyed the bikes, enjoyed our time.
44:15 It's not perfect, but hey, these are really cool cruisers, and it's still a cruiser.
44:21 That's the main thing.
44:22 That's the big takeaway, too, is that these are very much traditional V-twin cruisers,
44:26 and that's what Indian was going for.
44:27 I'd say it was a success.
44:29 If you are interested in checking out more, hey, and you want to try them out yourself,
44:34 find an Indian demo opportunity down the road.
44:37 Maybe visit a local dealer, throw a leg over them, because it's interesting to do that
44:40 and understand the differences, even from just an ergonomic standpoint, and get to visually
44:45 see how different these bikes are.
44:48 Thank you, guys.
44:49 I know that was a lot.
44:50 That's two full days, five motorcycles.
44:52 It was a lot, but appreciate you coming along for the ride with us.
44:54 It was a lot of fun.
44:55 We had a blast.
