The final stages of construction of the M55 to Heyhouses Link Road are well advanced.

Children from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Primary School visited the scheme this week as Lancashire County Council's surfacing contractor Multipave NW Ltd made the most of the good weather.

00:00Well we've had our Lady of Assumption school children here today and they've witnessed
00:18a major road in its final stages of construction. What they've learnt today and witnessed is
00:28the actual building up of the highway from the asphalt to the chippings and all it being
00:36rolled in. It was very noisy but I think they enjoyed the experience. It's certainly something
00:44to witness and they wouldn't have gained this knowledge had it been in the classroom. You
00:50have to actually see it in operation to understand how a road comes together and I think they've
00:57experienced that very well and so have I.
