00:02 Great to be here in Davos.
00:04 It looks like AI is in the air.
00:05 It is everywhere, literally.
00:07 It's always great to be here.
00:08 There are always big ideas.
00:09 There's always a cross-section of smart people
00:11 and a goal of changing the world.
00:13 One thing that's special about Davos is
00:15 you have so many of the world's thought leaders,
00:18 so many of the world's literal leaders,
00:20 and these are folks who can make positive change,
00:22 and we want to be part of that.
00:24 [MUSIC]
00:50 We want to see AI not just chatting with us,
00:52 but we want to see AI building new types of
00:55 medical diagnosis system,
00:57 building sustainable mobility systems for our world
01:00 so that we can advance our cities and our futures.
01:04 We have seen misinformation campaigns
01:06 spread through different media,
01:08 and I think we have not seen a change
01:11 in the business model of these platforms,
01:13 which is sort of micro-targeting different types of people
01:16 based on categories that are created
01:18 via massive amounts of surveillance data.
01:21 What you need is a radical change
01:24 to the surveillance business model
01:26 that is right now at the heart of the tech industry.
01:29 It was almost the heartbeat of Davos,
01:31 of the World Economic Forum,
01:33 and it was a place where great minds came together.
01:37 [MUSIC]
01:45 This is incredibly special that we are at
01:48 the official unofficial event for MIT.
01:52 It is not because an entity is intelligent
01:55 that it wants to dominate,
01:57 or that it is necessarily dangerous.
01:59 It can solve problems,
02:00 it can set goals for it,
02:02 and it will fulfill those goals.
02:03 And the idea that somehow the system is going to come up with
02:06 its own goals and take over humanity
02:08 is just preposterous.
02:09 The U.S. intelligence community is now going to identify
02:12 when they see campaigns using these deep fakes,
02:15 and it shows both how significant the concerns are
02:18 for the integrity of our democracy,
02:20 but it also means that people like journalists,
02:23 academics, civil society leaders
02:25 do not have the same kind of information.
02:27 And so I think we need to also make sure
02:29 that more people are empowered to push back.
02:31 I feel that tech which works for individual people
02:34 for their best interest is really, really important.
02:36 I want my AI to work for me,
02:38 and for that, we have to have the data infrastructure
02:41 to support that.
02:42 [music]
02:52 Is the experience of a school kid
02:55 in whatever part of the world you can influence,
02:58 has it been improved by AI,
03:00 by all of these technologies, since last year?
03:04 If you're not optimizing that metric,
03:06 ask yourself what you're doing.
