00:00 A major front is blasting across the nation at the moment.
00:05 WA copped it first and now Central Australia as it gets eastwards is getting some rain
00:10 out of this.
00:11 Lots of cold air behind it as well.
00:13 The skies will clear relatively quickly as another high reaches in but this one a good
00:17 way is further north than the blocking highs we've been having.
00:20 This looks much more like a typical winter picture and we do have some problems with
00:23 winds around this low pressure system that's been deepening in the Bight.
00:27 That's ramping up.
00:28 The gusty conditions in the south east today and we'll expect to see some damaging winds.
00:33 Gusts of 100-110km/h in parts of Victoria up into the south of New South Wales and for
00:38 eastern parts of Tassie too.
00:40 Even outside of those warning areas though it is windy and the northerlies ahead of this
00:45 front are pretty warm and ramping up the fire danger, high fire danger conditions for large
00:49 parts of the country today.
00:51 But the rain, the much needed rain, particularly through southern WA and for South Australia
00:56 at the moment, it is very, very welcome.
00:59 We could see some moderate falls, particularly for central parts of the territory today and
01:03 this will continue its eastwards march.
01:05 We could see a low pressure system spinning up in it off the New South Wales coast this
01:08 weekend.
01:09 One to watch as it concentrates falls there.
01:10 And then behind, you can see the new high that's coming in is not a blocking high, we've
01:14 got another front.
01:15 It's looking much more like winter, just in time for winter.
01:19 Some falls across almost all of the country in the week ahead.
01:23 Let's get around the states and we'll start in Queensland.
01:24 More isolated falls in the east today, mostly up in the tropics, but you are getting a bit
01:28 of rain developing around Channel Country.
01:31 It will be really tomorrow onwards that the rain moves in.
01:33 For Brisbane it's a shower or two, it's getting to 24 degrees.
01:37 Most of the state is staying fine, that's the case with New South Wales as well, until
01:40 that rain develops in the west and into the southern inland for this evening.
01:44 A couple of drops for the northeast today too.
01:46 Sydney, you're getting to 24, clear skies there, and Canberra's got a fine 19.
01:51 The showers in western and northeastern Victoria this morning, but they are about to get swamped.
01:56 That band of wet weather is moving across the state, getting to the west round about
01:59 lunchtime and into the east for this evening.
02:01 Melbourne, it'll be a fine but windy 21, and then it's late rain moving in for you.
02:06 In Tasmania, we also started clear, but we've got some wet weather on the way starting in
02:10 the north and the west this afternoon, then it'll spread right across the state for tonight.
02:14 Hobart, that means maybe a late shower for you after a fine 19.
02:17 Over in South Australia, that rain is moving across as we speak.
02:21 It's going to clear up from the west behind the front relatively quickly.
02:24 It'll just leave some showers lingering for the agricultural area overnight.
02:28 22 in Adelaide, a wet start, but it will dry up.
02:31 Over in WA, we've still got some shower activity through the southwest and along the south
02:35 coast too.
02:36 Some storms from Augusta to Albany.
02:39 Perth's got showers, 19 your top.
02:41 And then up north, the fall's getting all the way up to the Kimberley in WA, and then
02:44 stretching down across most of the NT.
02:48 The north up top, it's looking pretty standard for now though, so we've got a fine one, maybe
02:52 a couple of drops in the northeast at the top end, but that's it.
02:54 Darwin's getting to 33.
