00:00 Hello Amelia, I'm Jodie.
00:02 Hi, how are you doing?
00:03 I'm a fan, it's gorgeous.
00:04 Oh thank you, thanks. We're just like similar colours.
00:07 Oh I know, the sea, you've just got to go for blue don't you?
00:10 Ocean blue.
00:11 Listen it's so lovely to meet you.
00:13 It's nice to see you front and centre because I'm normally chatting to your mum and husband.
00:17 So it's nice to finally meet you.
00:19 I know, I know, it's actually really weird. I was thinking pictures and I felt so weird on my own
00:23 because I'm just used to like, you know, being here, being plus one.
00:26 Yeah, using them as the prop to hide any bits.
00:28 Exactly, I suddenly felt really exposed.
00:31 Well you look absolutely incredible.
00:32 Thank you.
00:33 Congratulations on this. I mean I love the fact that it's a story about a strong woman who just is so resilient.
00:39 Where on earth do you begin with the music for this though because it's such a powerful story?
00:43 Yeah, I mean I remember when I saw the first kind of assembly and the first time I saw the rough cut of the film
00:49 and I just was like, oh my god, you know, how am I going to do this?
00:52 And it was overwhelming because the story is just so magnificent and you want the score to support that incredible story.
01:00 So I think that the starting point was finding a theme, like her theme, finding that main theme for Trudy
01:08 that could be her kind of hero theme and that could also be her connection to her sister
01:14 and I felt like that was the anchor that everything needed to, you know, her kind of emotional core.
01:20 So that was where I started and then after that it was finding themes that would work for, you know,
01:26 really being able to tell the story of the swimming and the races and all the stuff in the water
01:30 and kind of make that feel propulsive, make that feel exciting and try and find new ways of doing that as we went on.
01:38 Yeah, so it was kind of, there were a few different elements that needed to get, you know, I needed to get working.
01:44 100% and soundtracking in movies is so, so important.
01:48 I mean, soundtracking can sometimes make the film as well so there's a little bit of a sense of pressure when it's such a strong story as well.
01:54 Absolutely and I think also when it's a sports film, I think there's such a legacy of brilliant scores in that kind of world
02:02 and also Disney and also Joe Bruckheimer, they all just have this history of brilliant scores so there was definitely a pressure.
02:10 And how do you feel about the fact that we're getting to see it on the big screen as well?
02:13 Oh, it's great. I mean, it's such a bonus and I remember kind of early on there were whispers that it might happen
02:18 and that, you know, we'd hear that it might be and so I think we were all just so excited when we found out that it was going to be at the cinema.
02:26 As it should be. And listen, I often tease your lovely husband about his voice. He's got a cracking voice.
02:32 Oh yeah!
02:33 And I just, I don't understand why we've not got the Jamie Dornan album.
02:37 Oh yeah, I've definitely heard that album at home. He sings all the time.
02:42 Really?
02:43 Yeah, he does. He sings all the time.
02:44 Because he almost gets so shy and coy about it.
02:46 Oh no.
02:47 I'm like, Jamie, we know you've got a voice.
02:48 Well, he's singing Belfast really well.
02:50 No, he's got beautiful voice. He really does.
02:52 Amelia, you need to get the album going.
02:54 I know, I'll get him to sing on a soundtrack.
02:56 Yes, please. We want it.
02:58 I'll do my best.
02:59 Well, send my love.
03:00 I will.
03:01 Honestly, I would love to be a fly on the wall in your house. You and the music, him singing. I mean, honestly, what a talented family.
03:07 It's a noisy house.
