00:0026-year-old Fulham defender Tosin Adaribayo has been a transfer target for Newcastle United
00:06for several weeks now. The former Manchester City youth player's contract at Craven Cottage
00:11runs out this summer, allowing him to leave on a free transfer.
00:15St James' Park seemed a likely destination for the player given that the Magpies will
00:19be without central defenders Sven Bottmann and Jamala Sells, possibly until the end of
00:242024 as they both recover from torn anterior cruciate ligaments.
00:29However, rivals Chelsea have now entered the race for Adaribayo's signature, and have
00:34reportedly offered a contract to him. Chelsea can offer European football, which Newcastle
00:40United cannot, following Manchester United's triumph in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
00:46It is now up to Adaribayo to decide on his future, and which of the clubs he ultimately
00:50signs for. Whilst Chelsea will offer a lucrative deal, the promise of more guaranteed game
00:55time at Newcastle could yet sway the outcome of this saga.
