00:00We're off to the European Championships in the UK starting the 15th of July till the 20th of July.
00:09Suey's been chosen on the Australian team to go over there. Last year we went, where'd we go Suey?
00:17First! To France, yeah. And where did you come? Third. First, she got two firsts last year at the
00:25Global Games, the Vertus Global Games in France, in Vichy, where she represented Australia. She was one of
00:32three. They won the team's event and then she won her individual event as well, so she came home with
00:40two gold. Is that right? Yes ma'am. And what was your horse's name? Ma'am. She had to ride a borrowed horse
00:48so she gets two rides on that horse before she competes and it'll be the same again in the UK.
00:54All the Europeans will ride their own horse but the Australians get to ride borrowed horses.
01:02If it wasn't for the Taree and Manning Valley community, Suey wouldn't be where she is today.
01:09She started at Pony Club just doing basic Pony Club stuff and then 2000 she fell in love with dressage
01:18and then to go to France last year we had to raise $10,000. The Taree community and Blue Metal
01:28Equestrian came up with that $10,000 in a week. It was just incredible and now on this journey
01:36we've got Lord Tavernas behind us and Lord Tavernas have been amazing in their financial support,
01:44their emotional support and just made the journey of Suey to compete at an elite level
01:52so easy for us in that we're not stressing about the finances of this whole thing. So thank you to
01:59Taree and everybody involved in Suey's journey because if it wasn't for you she wouldn't be
02:04where she is today. I'm Nell Marshman. I'm Suey's coach. I've been Suey's coach for about 16 years
02:11and it's been a delight to teach her. She inspires me. I really enjoy teaching
02:19Suey because she presents different challenges. Teaching people with physical and intellectual
02:24disabilities is something that I'm very passionate about. It means having to adjust your training
02:32while still working within the perimeters of good coaching and to watch Suey progress through all
02:38the levels and to go ahead and her happiness makes me very happy too. Okay what's it like to
02:44go traveling over there? Good. It's good? Was it fun? Yes, my family, my team, a family, my coach.
02:56A family and her coach all came over and she was part of the Australian team of 200 riders across
03:03all sports. Good job.
