00:00 Good afternoon, I am again Benison Estareja and we have another update regarding our monitor, Typhoon Aghon with international name Iwinyar.
00:11 This is our latest satellite animation and as of 4 in the afternoon, the eye of Typhoon Aghon was last seen.
00:19 155 kilometers to the north of Casiguran in Aurora.
00:23 It still has maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near its eye and gustiness up to 170 km/h.
00:33 It is still moving slowly, 10 km/h only, east-northeast while at the northern horizon of Northern Luzon.
00:42 Based on our latest satellite animation, it is slowly enhancing our southwesterly wind flow
00:48 or the mixed wind from the northern horizon and we will experience rain in many areas in western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula,
00:59 Mimaropa this afternoon until tomorrow morning.
01:02 Based on our latest satellite animation, we do not have cloud clusters,
01:07 except for this, that could be a low pressure area or a new typhoon in the next few days.
01:15 This is the latest track of the forecast regarding Typhoon Aghon.
01:19 Yesterday morning, it was only in the area of Quezon Province, its center,
01:26 because this is the time when it will have a recurve.
01:30 That's why the rain that fell in Calabarzon area, especially in Quezon, was a bit more.
01:36 Then afterwards, it moved northeastward, even though it was slow,
01:41 it moved here in Polilio Island in Quezon until it reached the eastern side,
01:46 coastal waters of Aurora, and tomorrow morning, we expect it to be further.
01:52 300 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan,
01:55 it will reach tomorrow afternoon, around 500 km east of Batanes,
02:00 and it will be further when it reaches Wednesday afternoon,
02:03 more than 1,000 km northeast of extreme northern Luzon,
02:08 and afterwards, it will leave the area of responsibility.
02:11 For the next two days, it will remain as a typhoon,
02:14 that is between 140 to 155 km/h, so it's still strong,
02:20 even though we expect strong winds in this circle,
02:25 our country will not experience it when it moves further tomorrow morning.
02:33 So far, we have removed the areas with signal number 2
02:38 here in eastern Isabela and Aurora.
02:41 We still have signal number 1 in the eastern portion of Quirino,
02:44 including Madela, Nagtipunan, and Aglipay.
02:47 Southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya, including Anfalso, Castaneda,
02:51 Dupax del Sur, and Dupax del Norte.
02:54 Eastern portion of Isabela, including the towns of Divilacan, San Mariano,
02:59 San Guillermo, Jones, Etxague, San Agustin, Maconacon, Ilagan, Benito Soliven,
03:06 Agadanan, Naguilian, Cahuayan, Palanan, and Dinapique.
03:11 In Aurora, signal number 1, including the northern portion of Quezon,
03:15 General Nacar, Infanta, Real, and the whole Impolilio Islands.
03:19 Signal number 1 in the northwestern portion of Camarines Norte,
03:23 Vincennes, Paracale, Jose Panganiban, and Capalonga, including Calaguas Islands.
03:29 These are the areas that experienced a strong wind,
03:32 even though it is not as strong as the previous days.
03:36 What are we expecting?
03:39 We have strong winds, especially in coastal and mountainous or upland areas
03:45 in the next few hours.
03:47 But as the storm moves away, it may decrease,
03:51 and possibly by tomorrow, we may lose our tropical cyclone wind signals.
03:55 As for the rains, we still have expectations for the next few days.
04:01 The effect of the southwesterly wind flow is enhanced by the Agon Storm.
04:05 We still have some dangerous rains, 50-100 mm, until tomorrow.
04:10 And tonight, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.
04:18 Tomorrow, May 28, we still have expectations for the rains
04:22 over Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas.
04:25 So mostly, these are the western sides of the southern Luzon and Visayas.
04:29 For Metro Manila, like most of the Luzon,
04:33 we will still experience scattered rains, especially from yesterday until tonight,
04:37 in the next few days.
04:39 The southwest wind flow is also affected, so the chances of rain are the highest
04:43 here in Zambales, Bataan, Ilocos Region, Cavite, Batangas, Metro Manila,
04:48 and in the areas of the western side of the southern Luzon and Visayas.
04:53 So, we will continue to remind our fellowmen to be careful of possible floods.
05:01 The flow of our rivers is still possible because of the continuous rains.
05:05 And the landslides are still there, especially in mountainous areas.
05:13 As for our gale warning, because of the storm,
05:17 there are still floods up to 4.5 meters.
05:21 Here in the eastern seaboard of Cagayan, Isabela,
05:25 Baybay ng Aurora, and Northern Quezon, as well as the Polilio Islands,
05:29 the seaboards we mentioned are still in danger of flooding.
05:33 And we expect that while the storm is moving away,
05:37 our gale warning may also disappear by tomorrow.
05:40 Even though we still have a chance of a flood by tomorrow in many areas of Luzon.
05:45 To sum it up, we expect that the storm will move northeastward
05:53 for the next two days while it is here in the Philippine Sea
05:57 until it leaves our area of responsibility by Wednesday afternoon.
06:02 It may weaken while it is going to leave,
06:05 but for the next two days, it will remain in a typhoon at 140 km/h.
06:11 But it will go to an area where the sea is a bit cold,
06:15 so it can weaken again as a severe tropical storm.
06:19 That's the latest from the weather forecasting.
06:23 But we have a presentation for our dams with our hydrologist, Mr. Elmer Caringal.
06:29 Our dam update, so far we have noticed that the benefit of the typhoon
06:38 is good for our major dams in Luzon.
06:43 Actually, this is our dam as of today, but this was at 8 in the morning.
06:52 So we can see that this is the dam that was affected by the typhoon.
07:02 The present elevation as of 8 am today is 179.79.
07:08 It came from 178.86 yesterday, so it has an elevation of almost 1 meter.
07:15 0.93 meters, so we expect that the next day, tomorrow or the day after,
07:22 the elevation will be continuous, but not this much.
07:28 The rainwater from the mountains will be going down to the reservoir,
07:35 this is the dam.
07:37 And Ipulamesa, it also has an elevation, we can see it here.
07:41 And this is Ambuklao-Binga-San Roque, it is in the northern part of Luzon.
07:46 We noticed that Ambuklao generated, it went down by 0.42,
07:55 and went to Binga, it was hit by Binga.
07:59 So Binga, it rose by 1.12 meters, then it closed up,
08:07 and San Roque is negative, it is the lowest of the three dams,
08:13 the Cascades Dam, or series of dams.
08:17 So Ambuklao-Binga and San Roque, then San Roque is the lowest,
08:22 so it went down a bit, because Binga did not generate,
08:27 the Binga did not generate, so the water is being saved here in Binga.
08:32 And Pantabagandami, this is also one of our major dams here in Central Luzon,
08:39 in the north of Nueva Ecija, it was also affected by the rain,
08:46 here in Tayponaghon.
08:48 So they have an elevation of 0.13 meters from 174.60,
08:55 earlier it reached 174.63.
08:59 So it is also possible that in the coming days,
09:02 the elevation will still be continuous.
09:05 And Magatdam, this is the one in the extreme northern Luzon,
09:09 here in Vela.
09:11 So actually, the storm is still approaching the vicinity of Magatdam.
09:18 So it has not been affected much, or if there is, it is just a bit.
09:23 So we can notice that it is still going down.
09:27 That is the update of our dams.
09:31 And we still have initial flood advisory here in Luzon,
09:38 but we will update it later, around 6pm,
09:43 so this is our advisory earlier.
09:47 We still have in Region 6, Region 10,
09:51 for necessary precautionary measures,
09:54 like putting a sack for possible flash flood,
09:58 and Region 3, 4A and 4B, to take appropriate action.
10:04 Also in Region 4B, Region 2, Cagayan Valley, for possible flash flood.
10:11 And this is also in NCR, Pasig, Marikina,
10:15 we also have flood advisory.
10:17 We will update it later, around 6pm.
10:20 So this is it for now, and thank you very much.
