00:00 [Crowd cheering]
00:11 There have been some incredible highs in this season.
00:14 I think as much as we're all a bit exhausted,
00:15 we should not forget some of the moments
00:17 Newcastle have served us up this season,
00:19 which we'll come on to.
00:21 And I think it just is a testament to show that Newcastle,
00:24 as much as there have been problems,
00:26 both on and off the field,
00:27 they are going in the right direction.
00:30 Yeah, absolutely.
00:32 You mentioned the high points there.
00:34 I think it's been a season of...
00:38 I'd say it's probably been an unremarkable season
00:41 full of remarkable results.
00:42 Yeah.
00:43 Because, I mean, we'll probably go through them in a bit,
00:47 but Champions League football return to St James' Park,
00:50 some of the results you had there,
00:52 beating Arsenal at home,
00:54 in that VAR drama-filled game,
00:59 which beating Arsenal in the regular season
01:02 probably wouldn't be pinned up as a remarkable result,
01:05 if you like, but given how Arsenal lost the title
01:08 on the final day,
01:10 and you've got Newcastle fans down in London
01:12 chanting you lost the league at St James' Park,
01:15 it was quite a big result in Arsenal's season,
01:18 and probably Newcastle's as well,
01:19 because I think even that Arsenal game
01:21 was probably the start of Newcastle United's
01:24 injury crisis, if you like.
01:28 But, yeah, as much as they probably didn't progress
01:33 too much on the pitch because Newcastle dropped
01:36 from fourth to seventh,
01:39 I think you need to look at it a different way,
01:40 and I think take the long-term view
01:42 is that this season will be a big learning curve
01:43 for Newcastle.
01:46 Moquia, they didn't bet our last season's result
01:50 in terms of getting Champions League,
01:51 but there's mitigating factors to that,
01:54 but as long as Newcastle can learn from the lessons
01:57 this season, the injuries, dealing with European football,
02:00 because the return of European football
02:03 is a different experience for Eddie Howe,
02:06 even for many generations of Newcastle fans as well,
02:09 because Newcastle haven't played in Europe
02:13 in consecutive seasons for 20 years.
02:16 So to get back into the Champions League
02:20 and hopefully Europe, or Conference League, sorry,
02:23 Newcastle will be much better from last season's experience
02:26 of managing them three games a week
02:28 and then be much stronger for it.
02:29 And then, of course, the injury situation
02:31 which I mentioned, this season can be a big positive,
02:34 although it hasn't maybe felt like it at many points
02:37 this season, it can be a positive
02:39 if Newcastle can use it to learn from
02:41 and use it to drive them forward in the coming years.
02:45 - Very much so, yes.
02:46 And I think obviously the caveat to Newcastle
02:48 having to once again get used to playing
02:50 those three games a week is the fact that
02:52 in the Conference League, you can rotate a lot more
02:55 than they were able to in the Champions League.
