00:00Next, I'll turn it over to the Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, Ted Lieu.

00:05Thank you, Chairman Aguilar.

00:07As Chairman Aguilar noted, we celebrate two weeks.

00:11This week we've got National Police Week as well as Infrastructure Week.

00:16In terms of Police Week, I honor all those who choose a profession where they could be

00:21called upon to risk their lives.

00:24Having served an active duty in U.S. military, I respect all those who wear a uniform and

00:28choose to protect and serve, including our police officers and all those in law enforcement.

00:33And then in terms of Infrastructure Week, let me start off by saying that we've got

00:37a good economic report today showing that inflation has cooled slightly.

00:43It went downwards in April.

00:46At the same time, prices are too high.

00:49And that's why when Democrats are in control, we pass laws, such as the infrastructure law,

00:53that's going to help ease supply chain shortages.

00:56It's going to make transporting goods easier and faster and more efficient.

01:00That's going to help reduce prices.

01:02We also passed the Chips and Science Act, which is going to bring back high-tech chip

01:05manufacturing to the United States.

01:07Chips are lots of consumer products.

01:09That's going to help reduce prices.

01:11The Biden administration has been working on reducing junk fees.

01:14We also passed a law when Democrats were in control to reduce medical costs.

01:18And so Democrats are focused on lowering prices and lowering costs.

01:22And with that, it is my great honor to introduce the amazing freshman representative from Oregon.
