00:00 Today is a momentous day I think for all of us.
00:03 Sometimes we felt like we were shouting into the wind during these 40 years.
00:09 When we told people they didn't believe us, they said this wouldn't happen in the UK.
00:14 But today proves that it can happen in the UK and it did happen in the UK.
00:18 And I just feel validated and vindicated by Sir Brian and his report today.
00:23 Throughout the report Sir Brian refers to that line,
00:27 that the best treatment possible was given to people.
00:31 And we now know once and for all that that was a lie.
00:35 People have been saying that was a lie for many, many years.
00:38 And now we have the definitive word on that.
00:41 We've been gaslit for generations.
00:44 This report today brings an end to that.
00:48 And it looks to the future as well.
00:51 It shows that this cannot continue, this ethos of denial and cover up.
00:57 And that the duty of care for Canada has to be reviewed going forward.
01:03 So this can never happen again.
01:05 Many of the politicians should hang their heads in shame.
01:08 I think for the first time we've seen people like Jeremy Hunt and other health secretaries speak up recently.
01:13 And actually start to acknowledge their part in this scandal.
01:17 Because no single person is responsible for this scandal.
01:20 It's been the result of generations of denial, delay and cover up.
01:25 And there are, whilst there might be an apology later today from the Prime Minister,
01:29 it's not just the Prime Minister who holds responsibility and accountability for this.
01:33 There are many others out there.
01:35 And I would expect over the coming days and weeks for many more people to come forward and say sorry.
01:40 I'm sorry for my part.
01:42 And if they're genuinely sorry, they will help implement the recommendations that Sir Brian has recommended today.
01:47 This has gone on for so long now that the people that were around at the time will be very hard to track down if they're even still alive.
01:53 And that's one of the testimonies of the cover up and the delays in getting justice to this scandal.
02:00 Is the time that it's taken has meant that justice delayed really is in this case justice denied.
