The Canberra Times looks at how mobile parking enforcement vans are used to patrol car parks and take photos of number plates for parking infringement.

00:00So we've got a tablet here which has the patrol route that we're going to take and it has
00:15all the different parking restrictions within the area.
00:20And as we're driving around it links to a camera at the front and at the rear which
00:24takes images and records vehicles in those particular locations.
00:29The system will identify the vehicles.
00:31If we are doing a time zone, we'll re-attend that time zone after the zone's expired.
00:37The system will then automatically pick up number plates that are still in that zone
00:41for enforcement.
00:42Then we'll reference the images we've received on the first run and on the second run and
00:47using an authorised officer, we'll determine if that is then an infringement that needs
00:52to be issued.
