The Tasmania premier in 1878, Surgeon William Crowther, stole the head of Aboriginal man William Lanne. In 2022 Hobart City Council voted to remove the statue, and an appeal against the decision failed. The statue was found cut off at the ankles and spray painted before the verdict was revealed.
