00:00 The strip and cavity search in New Believed Prison was suspended

00:04 following the complaint that the body search did not lead to the bodies of some of the prisoners.

00:09 But if the Bucor clarifies, the security check will remain tight.

00:16 From today, Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr.

00:25 will continue the strip and cavity search on the bodies of the prisoners in New Believed Prison.

00:30 The order was issued following the complaint of some of the prisoners' wives

00:35 to the Dumanil Lobbies and the body search was not allowed on the bodies.

00:39 According to the memo issued this afternoon,

00:41 Catapang said to stop it while the review of the procedure of Bucor

00:46 in the strip and cavity inspection is being done.

00:48 The simulation that they will do is included here

00:51 with the Commission on Human Rights or CHR.

00:54 We want to simulate again what happened and then based on that,

00:59 the CHR with their presence can make comment, this is wrong.

01:04 They are welcome to make any observation and review of the CHR.

01:10 The complaint of some of the wives is being investigated.

01:13 I was not there, you were not there.

01:16 What happened, they should file a sworn statement that this is what they did.

01:26 Some of the Bucor prisoners were relieved.

01:28 Relieved because they will have to be investigated and then of course, we want to see the protocol.

01:35 Catapang clarified that their security check is a part of the strip search,

01:40 especially since they are catching many people who are trying to steal contraband.

01:44 Catapang said before that there are no full body scanners in the prison.

01:49 We caught 30 people trying to steal contraband starting last year and up to March.

01:58 The highlight is, you will believe it or not, there's tobacco, cell phone, charger and hearing aid.

02:08 But Catapang said that the strip search should be no touch.

02:11 Bucor clarified that even if the strip and cavity search is stopped, their security check will still be held.
