A look at the young midfielder.

00:00 Moving on to Harvey Elliott, there's a few players this summer that Liverpool are going to look at.
00:07 Are they going to be able to make this transition from Jurgen Klopp's time to a new era under Arne Slott?
00:14 How does Harvey Elliott fit into Slott's plans?
00:19 It's a role he's played which has been further forward or dropping back.
00:24 He's been fantastic for Liverpool this season.
00:27 How does he fit in and how can you see his future going under a new manager?
00:33 I think the main aim for Harvey Elliott is to start more games as his career progresses.
00:41 He's been on the periphery of the starting XI for a lot of this season.
00:45 He's made an impact when he has come on in most games.
00:49 Maybe that's why Jurgen Klopp has confined him to that role.
00:54 He's almost said, "If you need me, you can call me."
00:58 It is a bit of a back-and-forth because it's a role you know you can do well.
01:04 But every footballer wants to be starting games.
01:07 He's just turned 21 now and he's starting to show consistency as well.
01:12 I've been games with him when he started this season and he's been subbed a half-time or early in the second half.
01:18 It's not quite worked.
01:20 I can't justify why he's been more of an impact player.
01:24 It's so easy to forget he's 21.
01:27 He's the same age as Gerard Kwan who's enjoying a breakthrough campaign.
01:31 Conor Bradley is only a few months older than him as well.
01:38 He's been around his first team for so long.
01:41 You forget how young he is.
01:44 He's still playing for England when he was 21 and is the captain now.
01:48 His aim will be to break into Arnie Sotts' plans.
01:51 Going forward, I think he needs to be utilised more as a midfielder than a right winger.
02:00 He hasn't got the pace to be a winger.
02:03 For me, he's performed better as a centre midfielder.
02:08 We saw his goals against Tottenham that he can cut in size and maybe needs to start having a goal more.
02:16 He's got a big future to play.
02:18 There are a lot of options in midfield.
02:20 I don't think Arnie Sotts will be looking to address that in the summer.
02:24 Maybe another defensive midfielder if there is one.
02:26 In terms of the number 8 roles, there's a lot of competition there.
02:30 Javier Elliott needs to convince the new manager that he can be that regular player on the right-hand side of the middle three.
02:41 If he has a good end to the season, Arnie Sotts will be looking at this and thinking,
02:44 "I like this lad. I'm going to give him a goal in pre-season."
02:47 You mentioned that he is part of the under-21s.
02:51 The captain is 21 years of age.
02:54 We've seen the rise of Jude Benningham, who's younger than him.
02:57 How far do you think Elliott could be from Gareth Southgate's side?
03:02 I asked him this at a press conference for a Europa League game.
03:07 He said he's just focusing on his football.
03:09 He's the minister for Liverpool. If he breaks into it, so be it.
03:14 He was offered Gareth Southgate something different.
03:16 If he were to be in the Euro squads, is he making his case a little bit too late?
03:23 Potentially, yes.
03:24 You wouldn't think, as captain of the under-21s, Gareth Southgate would be well aware of what he's capable of.
03:34 He'd be speaking to Lee Carsley about maybe because he made the step up.
03:39 Curtis Jones, who did really well at last summer's under-21s Euros,
03:43 was on the cusp of a call-up before his injury.
03:46 Gareth Brantford was obviously part of that Euro squad and has made the breakthrough.
03:51 Elliott will just be looking to do well.
03:54 If a call-up comes, I'm sure he would take it with both hands.
