00:00 So, you gonna come in?
00:03 Yes, I am.
00:05 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for movies that would be pure perfection if it weren't for one bad scene.
00:12 Some of these notorious scenes contain spoilers.
00:14 He looks beautiful! You can look good. You'll make a good impression for once in your life.
00:18 Would you go out with me?
00:19 Not with ruffles.
00:20 Number 10. Tarantino's Cameo. Django Unchained.
00:25 Everyone from Jamie Foxx to Christoph Waltz delivered on their roles in Django Unchained, helping create a group of complex characters.
00:32 What you said was, was that this is my world. And in my world you gotta get dirty.
00:38 However, one actor stuck out like a sore thumb. The director himself.
00:42 Tarantino has had cameos in his own projects before, and some of them have been genuinely funny additions.
00:47 This one was not.
00:49 He portrayed an Australian slave owner.
00:51 Nice thing about this fortune is, it ain't illegal. You can't steal it. You got to earn it, white boy.
00:58 You got something to say, mate. You say it.
01:00 While his poor accent could have scraped by, the fact that his scene partner was a well-known Aussie actor only highlighted his subpar attempt.
01:07 You're funny, bugger.
01:09 Despite being on screen for a short amount of time, he still found a way to distract from the main story.
01:14 A little dawn of Marth for you black boys to play with.
01:17 His appearance was the one dark spot in an otherwise fantastic film.
01:21 Number 9. The Earth Moving Backwards. Superman.
01:25 Although it isn't as flashy as modern day comic book flicks, Superman still holds up as a charming piece of the hero's lore.
01:31 Superman popularized the hero in movie form.
01:34 Easy, miss. I've got you.
01:36 You've got me? Who's got you?
01:39 I can't believe it. I just cannot believe it. He got her.
01:44 His characterization and some of the special effects are still viewed fondly.
01:48 There's only one blip, and it just so happens to be the emotional climax.
01:52 After the death of his love interest, Lois Lane, Superman becomes distraught.
01:56 So much so, that he decides the most logical course of action is to fly around the Earth until its rotational pole reverses, essentially turning back time.
02:09 It was a bizarre solution that even fans couldn't defend.
02:12 While disbelief is usually suspended for films like this, some things just can't be ignored.
02:16 I'm almost killed, and I took a tot the whole thing off this stupid car under the gas.
02:21 I'm sorry about that, Lois, but I've been kind of busy for a while.
02:24 Number 8. Tony Finds Out. West Side Story.
02:28 It always hurts when a classic scene is done so dirty.
02:31 The 2021 remake of West Side Story did a lot of things right.
02:34 The cast was talented, the story was similar to the original stage show, and it had plenty of charm.
02:39 [Singing]
02:50 One instance is intended to be moving, when Tony is told that his love has been murdered.
02:54 In most versions, his reaction is passionate, but still authentic.
02:58 Bring it back.
03:00 Jesus.
03:01 Gina!
03:10 Ansel Elgort missed the mark, and instead delivered a melodramatic moment that overshadowed the lie he was being told.
03:16 It was hard to take seriously, especially as he acted alongside the legendary Rita Moreno.
03:21 He killed her. She's... she's dead.
03:28 It put a damper on the sequence, and made it hard to feel sympathetic during Tony's tragic end shortly afterward.
03:34 Number 7. Allison's Makeover. The Breakfast Club.
03:48 For art that was so subversive in handling stereotypes, it still couldn't quite stick the landing.
03:52 Most of the group was fleshed out, and the acting helped further their development.
03:58 Allison, or "The Basket Case," had an eccentric style that accentuated her quirky personality.
04:01 You wanna know what I did to get in here?
04:03 Nothing. I didn't have anything better to do.
04:12 That changed when Claire gave her a makeover, which seemed to affect more than her physical appearance.
04:17 It led to her ending up with Andrew, which added insult to injury.
04:20 You're so different. I can see your face.
04:26 Is that good or bad?
04:29 It's good.
04:31 It was a disappointing end to her arc, playing into harmful and reductive tropes.
04:36 What makes things worse is that the actress, Ally Sheedy herself, didn't want this, and tried to convince Hughes to go down another route.
04:43 Tell me your troubles and doubts. Give me everything inside and out.
04:51 That unfortunately didn't happen, leaving us with her aggressive ending.
04:55 Number 6. Talia al Ghul's death. The Dark Knight Rises.
04:59 Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy stood out amongst other comic book flicks, for all the right reasons.
05:04 So you came back to die with your city.
05:08 No. I came back to stop you.
05:12 Its writing, tone, and acting were all perfect throughout all three, and they're still regarded today as some of the best in the genre.
05:19 However, that doesn't mean they're completely flawless.
05:22 One part in the final installment took people out of the experience.
05:25 Release the innocent people.
05:28 Innocent is a strong word to throw around Gotham, Bruce.
05:34 I honor my father by finishing his work.
05:37 The demise of Talia could have been a dramatic moment. Instead, her end happened so abruptly, that it's hard to tell she even died in the first place.
05:44 It being such a small movement only added to the anticlimactic energy.
05:48 There's no way this bomb will be stopped.
05:55 Considering how thoughtful every other death in the series had been, this one felt as though it was an afterthought.
06:00 Number 5. Flying Car. Grease.
06:03 Ending your feature on a fever dream is certainly an interesting choice.
06:07 While some parts of this musical are unapologetically silly, it remains grounded in reality for the most part.
06:12 We go together like rama rama rama, dinga dinga dinga dong.
06:16 Remember forever as you watch your wada wada yooka do boom da moan.
06:20 They don't act too unrealistically and have natural reactions to tough emotions.
06:24 It threw all of that out the window with the final moment, where Sandy and Danny drove off in greased lightning, only for it to take off into the air.
06:32 Boogie boogie boogie boogie, shoop de doop wop shabop.
06:35 Chang chang chang de chang shabop.
06:37 We'll always be like one.
06:40 They wave goodbye to each other as well, so it's implied that it actually happened.
06:43 If there had been other campy imagery like this throughout, then it may not have stuck out so much.
06:47 But with it being the way it was, it left the entire musical on an insane note.
06:52 [Music]
07:00 Number four, the final joke, Kingsman, the Secret Service.
07:04 Kingsman, the Secret Service was a satirical take on spy flicks and poked fun at countless cliches.
07:09 While it made fun of those tropes, it still held the original Bond series reverently, which helped it walk a fine line.
07:15 With some absurd and convoluted way to kill you and you'll find an equally convoluted way to escape.
07:21 Sounds good to me.
07:24 Well, this ain't that kind of movie.
07:26 It nearly stuck the landing until the very end.
07:30 But while they had no problem calling out various motifs in the genre, they did keep one.
07:33 Someone being rewarded with sex.
07:35 Aren't you that princess that we're missing?
07:37 You can't get me out.
07:38 What if I do? Will you give me a kiss?
07:40 I've always wanted to kiss a princess.
07:42 If you get me out right now, I'll give you more than just a kiss.
07:44 The joke went on for so long with little payoff, and they even exposed the actress on camera.
07:49 It was a lazy and shocking ending to an otherwise refreshing movie.
07:52 And it left a sour taste in the mouths of many viewers.
07:55 Exit.
07:57 Oh. Oh, my word.
08:03 Number three, Tuxedo Shopping. Carrie.
08:06 Everyone knows the best addition to any horror is a several-minute-long sequence of bit characters doing random things.
08:12 Carrie was fairly intimidating, with a frightening and electric ending that's still remembered.
08:16 It's all right. It's all right. I'm here.
08:21 There's a section that's even scarier than that.
08:23 The Tuxedo Shopping segment.
08:25 It primarily focused on three guys shopping for prom, while Carrie tested makeup.
08:29 The accompanying music only made it feel more like it had been taken from a totally different movie.
08:33 Things went from bad to just plain weird when the scene suddenly sped up, pitching up their voices.
08:46 It was an odd decision that made no sense, and it completely interrupted the tension occurring in the main storyline.
08:51 I don't look right in a tuxedo.
08:53 How do you know? Do you ever put on a tuxedo?
08:54 I don't have a tuxedo body.
08:56 Ruffles, you always gotta make a joke, right?
08:58 I just don't like ruffles.
08:59 I know they have tuxedos here for you.
09:02 Number two, Kimball's Jump. The Fugitive.
09:05 I didn't kill my wife. I don't care.
09:10 This had the potential to be intense and ended up being hysterical instead.
09:14 In a nerve-wracking moment, the protagonist makes the call to jump off a dam.
09:18 It was a dire choice that was made in sheer desperation, and for a moment, it made a solid impact.
09:23 Hands up! Over the head! Turn around!
09:28 Richard, do you want to get shot?
09:32 Unfortunately, the rest of the shot was unexpectedly comical.
09:35 They kept the camera on his falling body the entire time, making it painfully obvious that it was a dummy.
09:40 He was uncharacteristically still, and the legs moved in an inhuman fashion.
09:44 Obviously, they couldn't have Ford or his stunt double actually dive, but they could have at least cut to him at the bottom.
09:49 What happened? Where'd he go?
09:51 He got to the feet of the dam right here off of this dam right here.
09:55 Right there? Boom!
09:57 Instead, the audience was treated to a ludicrous shot in a mostly great film.
10:01 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
10:04 Bran's love speech, interstellar. Her monologue felt out of place during the mission.
10:08 Love isn't something we invented. It's observable, powerful.
10:15 It has to mean something.
10:19 Mid-credits scene, vice.
10:21 They insulted people who may have disagreed, ending on a pretentious note.
10:25 Something's been bothering me this whole movie, and I just figured it out.
10:29 The whole thing's liberal. It's got a liberal bias.
10:33 Steve and Sharon's kiss, Captain America, Civil War.
10:36 Captain America kissing his deceased love interest niece shocked fans worldwide.
10:40 That was...
10:41 Late.
10:42 Damn right.

10:58 It doesn't get much more hilarious than this.
11:05 The movie's subject matter is handled seriously, and for obvious reasons.
11:09 It follows a veteran and his struggles with PTSD.
11:12 For the most part, it does a good job of this.
11:14 Bradley Cooper's performance was truly stellar.
11:16 Baby?
11:18 Chris? Baby, I can't hear you. Hello?
11:23 I'm ready. I'm ready to come home.
11:28 For as realistic as it was, there's one thing they couldn't nail, and it immediately took center stage.
11:33 The prop baby probably could have gone unnoticed, but it was in frame for so long that it was impossible to ignore.
11:39 You're my husband. You're the father of my children, but they're the ones that pull you back.
11:44 It's so obviously fake that it almost felt like a deliberate choice rather than a mistake.
11:48 It was immediately called out by viewers and dragged.
11:51 It's become one of the most memorable aspects for all the wrong reasons.
11:55 It's true.
