Artist and curator Kirsha Kaechele says the exclusion of men is the artwork. Video via AAP.

00:00It's too narrow a reading of the law in that the work, the exclusion of men is part of the art, it is the artwork.
00:09And so discrimination is critical to the effective functioning of the Ladies' Lounge as an artwork.
00:15There's not a great deal of clarity as to whether we'll win,
00:20but what I do know is that all of the lawyers I've spoken to outside of the case,
00:27as well as within, feel that it's very important to exercise the argument
00:32because they feel as well that the reading of the law was too narrow in this ruling
00:37and that it will be healthy for the law to investigate further
00:42and understand really whether the Ladies' Lounge can and should be allowed to exist.
