00:00Moving on though to South Africa, its ruling ANC party will not be holding a disciplinary
00:04hearing for president and suspended member Jacob Zuma on Tuesday after all.
00:08Last week the party scheduled the reckoning but it's now saying that the hearing will happen
00:14after the May 29th election. Our Anne Mertens tells us more.
00:24The ANC is between a rock and a hard place when it comes to former president Jacob Zuma
00:28who is now heading the MK party which is threatening to upset all political apple
00:32carts on 29 May when South Africans go to the polls. Last week the ANC announced that it would
00:38take quote firm action to uphold discipline and had notified Jacob Zuma of a disciplinary hearing
00:44against him. Zuma is still an ANC member and has been charged with section 25.17 of the ruling
00:50party's constitution which relates to misconduct for his public support of the MKP and especially
00:55for saying he would vote for them and urging his supporters to vote out the ANC in the general
01:00election. The ANC first said the hearing would be held on 7 May but at the weekend said they'd hold
01:05it virtually. Zuma responded he'd not do a virtual hearing but would appear in person on Tuesday.
01:11Today the ANC announced it would wait till after the elections due to security concerns
01:16that large gatherings at Latulia house could lead to violence. It also seems cooler ANC heads may
01:22be saying that the ANC needs to be drawing attention to itself to gain votes rather than
01:27drawing attention to the party most likely to draw voters away from the ANC.
