Mansfield Wildlife Rescue thank police for support
Transcript
00:00 I'm PC Gardner from Mansfield Police Station. Today we're at Mansfield Wildlife Rescue in
00:04 Plesley Woodhouse. Over the last year with the centre I've been trying to do as much as I can
00:08 to help them with goods, tools, donations from different businesses, even down to
00:15 emptying some of the seized goods at the police station that would otherwise have been thrown away
00:20 so that they can sell, raffle, getting other organisations involved as well from
00:28 Smith Toys, Tesco's, Argos, you name it, they have areas where they can fund into local communities
00:36 and this is just an amazing place that they can do it with. It's made a huge difference, I mean when
00:41 we're struggling the police have helped collect things for us, they've come to some of us events
00:46 so obviously they're getting involved with the community as well which is bringing more supporting
00:50 and you know we can't thank them enough for the help that they've given us over the last year.
00:57 It's just getting our awareness out there and it's making the community feel safer because they know
01:01 that there's a presence. Neighbourhood policing, it's about people, it's not just all about what
01:07 people see on TV, it's about helping the local community, it's about seeing things like this,
01:12 the local hubs that help people and what also we can get out of it as well by speaking to people,
01:17 learning things, they can voice their opinions of what's happening and to be honest with you
01:24 it's quite a nice experience to help somewhere like this. The benefits that we have as a police
01:29 organisation is the people that we speak to which is part of neighbourhood policing and we speak to
01:34 a wide range of people at this centre about the local area. They get to tell me things that are
01:41 happening, I get to find out things that are happening from different sources and it's a
01:47 win-win situation really that we can help them and they're helping us.
