Referees in Creamline-Petro Gazz game to be re-assigned, says PVL exec  Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo clarifies that first referee Bobby Celso will be re-assigned and not suspended amid talk on social media over a controversial call he made during the Creamline-Petro Gazz game last Thursday, May 2, 2024 that favored the Cool Smashers. Malonzo emphasized that it was the referee’s judgement and the referees did not do anything wrong to merit a suspension. 00:26He was right. His call was right.

00:30But that is my interpretation.

00:33There are a lot of millions of eyes looking at his interpretation.

00:38But in FIVB, it is a judgment ball.

00:41So his judgment was, it was an overreach.

00:44Simply because the person was setting, Negrito was setting the ball.

00:50Van Sickle moved the ball, but he didn't overreach.

00:58Or, let's put it the other way around.

01:01If Van Sickle caught the ball and Negrito moved the sequence,

01:07Negrito would be called for an illegal backline attack.
