00:00More than Php 2 billion has been allocated by the Agriculture Department to farmers affected by El Niño.
00:09According to Assistant Secretary Arnel Demesa, the spokesperson of the DA,
00:14aside from other assistance from other government agencies,
00:18the National Irrigation Administration also has its own program to ensure that the irrigation works.
00:27Aside from the Survival and Recovery Loan of Php 25,000,
00:33the El Niño Irrigation Department has now reached Php 5.9 billion.
00:40More than Php 3 billion has been allocated to farmers.
00:44However, Demesa said that the National State of Calamity does not need to declare
00:50because a larger portion of the country is not affected by El Niño.
00:57Those affected mostly by El Niño are the northern part of our country,
01:03from Ilocos to the western section of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa,
01:09up to the Buaga Peninsula.
01:13But a large portion of our country is not affected,
01:17like the large portion of Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, and Eastern Luzon.
01:23According to our estimates, El Niño will be completed by May.
