00:00 Becky Lynch is the new Women's World Champion, making her a seven-time champion.
00:04 But that doesn't stop the Internet Outrage!
00:08 Let's address the complaints from the fickle followers online,
00:14 seeking to megaphone their opinion that Becky winning was wrong and boring and repetitive
00:19 and what about my faves? My faves?
00:22 It's all a backstage political move. We'll get into all of the arguments.
00:27 And if the crowd in Columbus on Monday Night Raw got what they deserved.
00:32 It's Sportskeeda Wrestling. I'm Kevin. Jump into the comments and let us know what you think.
00:36 That crowd in Columbus, by the way, they were cheering. They were excited.
00:39 They enjoyed seeing the man win the title in the main event.
00:44 So what exactly is the issue with Becky Lynch becoming the Women's World Champion?
00:49 The argument that those very angry people online are making is that Becky Lynch
00:55 becoming the Women's World Champion was unnecessary since she's big enough
01:00 and doesn't need the title at this point in her career, which is hard to argue against.
01:05 But still, what is the argument? Moreover,
01:08 she just lost a little over two weeks before this at WrestleMania 40
01:12 in a convincing fashion against Rhea Ripley,
01:14 but Rhea Ripley had to drop the title due to injury.
01:17 It's a messy situation where a lot of people are double talking one way
01:22 and double talking the other. The biggest argument is actually that it should have been Liv Morgan
01:28 who won the Women's World title and not Becky Lynch.
01:30 And a lot of people have seen Morgan lingering
01:33 and laboring in the shadows behind bigger names like Rhea
01:37 and Becky and felt that maybe she was the one who deserved,
01:41 if not her, what about Nia Jax,
01:43 who certainly had a strong showing in that same Battle Royal match
01:47 and got a ton of heat. As usual, Liv Morgan was the runner-up in the Battle Royal
01:52 and she's really been the runner-up in a lot of big multi-woman matches like this,
01:56 with a lot of stakes at hand in her WWE career.
01:59 So I understand where that narrative can really get under the skin of the Liv Morgan faithful
02:05 who want her to have her revenge tour. Liv Morgan has been the runner-up
02:10 or near that position in two Royal Rumble matches,
02:13 making Rhea Ripley call her the forever runner-up.
02:17 But the argument for Liv Morgan is valid for two reasons when you consider it.
02:21 Number one, she directly injured Rhea Ripley right after WrestleMania.
02:25 So the storyline is there. She injured the person who was the champion,
02:29 forcing the champion to vacate the title,
02:30 and then she wins the championship when the rightful champion isn't there,
02:35 playing in a great rematch once Rhea Ripley can come back to action.
02:39 She was also technically the last person to pin Rhea Ripley all the way back in 2022
02:44 that we can find. While we're playing Tuesday morning quarterback
02:47 for what happened on Monday Night Raw,
02:49 what if, just what if Nia Jax walked out with the title instead?
02:53 The live crowd would have universally booted her.
02:56 She is a very, very over villain who gets heat
03:00 because she's a bad girl who does bad things to the good girls that we like
03:05 and there are a lot more good girls in that match
03:08 and Ohio would have booted her out of Ohio if she won the title
03:11 and the same fans that are upset about Morgan not getting the title would have been just as upset.
03:17 But let's address the comparisons that Becky Lynch,
03:19 one of the most popular and beloved wrestlers the last 10 years,
03:23 is somehow now a backstage politicker and right up there with Hulk Hogan who did it back in the day.
03:29 Yes, this is a balloon that people are trying to blow hot air into.
03:33 There were a lot of comments going around calling Becky Lynch Hulk Hogan
03:37 for winning the title when she didn't need to at all.
03:40 Okay, this is a stretch. Take a deep breath because you're really stretching here.
03:45 So how did Becky Lynch actually politick her way into winning the title?
03:49 Our best guess is no, she didn't do that.
03:51 So anyone trying to create that narrative online is just trying to make some overzealous justification
03:57 for their wrestling nerd outrage. While the chance will never be zero,
04:01 the actual odds of Becky Lynch being a backstage politician
04:04 who's assuming control and influence in the current WWE environment is unlikely.
04:10 Let's be clear. Becky Lynch obviously has a position of power
04:14 and influence in WWE because she's earned it.
04:18 I mean, come on. She was in the first all-women's main event of Wrestlemania
04:23 and she won and the same crowd of fans that are now clamoring for her to somehow be kicked off her throat
04:29 and look how she's suppressing someone else. She's not doing that.
04:33 You're making it up. Just because she's reportedly the second highest paid woman in WWE,
04:38 these things can make people sway one way or the other
04:42 and just run with something and claim that it's true
04:45 when it's really just a twist to perspective based on your activated biases
04:51 and your preferences for somebody else. If anything,
04:54 there's one verifiable story to prove that she's used her backstage power to help elevate others.
05:00 Here's an example. Bianca Belair. After a four-month run that began with the title at Wrestlemania 37,
05:07 Bianca Belair's reign as SmackDown Women's Champion ended abruptly in just 26 seconds at the hands of Becky Lynch
05:17 and a confusing scenario for everyone watching and maybe for everyone wrestling at SummerSlam.
05:23 Heck, even Bianca Belair was confused and broke down backstage thinking that her moment was fleeting,
05:29 that it was gone. Becky Lynch was back in the mix with WWE
05:33 and some people were saying that she used her position as WWE's top woman to take the title
05:39 and made sure that Bianca Belair, though, got to have her moment at Wrestlemania 38.
05:45 It didn't want to work with anyone else. Becky Lynch took the title off Bianca.
05:50 She made Bianca an even bigger star, even more EST at the Wrestlemania that would follow
05:57 and surely enough, the outlandishly villainous Becky Lynch at the time did just that.
06:02 Having over 65,000 people on their feet when Belair hit her with the KOD for the 1, 2, 3.
06:11 It was one of the best matches in Texas that weekend. I was there.
06:15 I can say that. She would go on to become a bonafide main event star with a year-long run at the top
06:21 and we doubt that it wouldn't have happened if it didn't have the push
06:25 and effort that Becky Lynch put in to taking the title away from Bianca eight months earlier
06:31 and being the villain that Bianca needed to become the hero that she is now.
06:37 Oh, we got even more receipts for the Becky Boo Birds.
06:40 When Lynch won the NXT Women's Championship last year,
06:44 it felt maybe an odd thing compared to what she did in 2015 in that same division,
06:50 but this was the man putting her stardust on another group of superstars that needed it.
06:55 This wasn't just WWE giving her the one accolade she didn't have.
06:59 When it was all said and done, she elevated another fellow Irish Superstar and Lyra Valkyrie in the process.
07:07 When she feuded with Nia Jax from 2023 to early 2024,
07:12 they had two matches where Nia won once and Becky got her win back before WrestleMania,
07:18 but which was more memorable of those two matches.
07:20 It was most definitely the first one where Nia Jax picked up a clean win,
07:24 by the way, over Becky Lynch on television.
07:27 Our point is basically this. From where we stand in this present moment,
07:31 sure, it may look objectively questionable to have Becky Lynch become the Women's World Champion in this scenario,
07:38 but wait to see how things play out in the coming weeks.
07:42 What is the practical nature of what's going to happen here?
07:45 It could possibly be one of those transitional situations where Liv Morgan is lifted up once again by the new star maker in WWE
07:56 that is Becky Lynch. It's possible that Liv Morgan winning the Women's World Champion would be more effective
08:03 if it happened on a bigger stage rather than on some episode of Raw
08:08 where they're trying to rebound from a big superstar being put on the shelf with an injury.
08:13 And just think about it. Isn't a championship win always more effective when it's won from somebody else
08:20 rather than a battle royale where everyone's scrambling to get a prize?
08:25 Yeah, battle royales are cool, but a big one-on-one match has a little bit more consequence to it, doesn't it?
08:31 Don't be surprised if Becky Lynch is a transitional champion for a short period
08:36 or maybe has the title and Morgan becomes a bigger star in her revenge tour that turns into a title chase.
08:44 Until then, just enjoy wrestling, everybody.
