00:00 Yeah, it was a tough game. I think we've controlled the game in the first half, put them on the
00:05 back foot, done everything we wanted to do and come in at a hard time 1-1, feeling comfortable
00:11 and come out the second half again and conceded it quite early on and then, as has been our
00:17 problem most of the season, going from 2-3 to 4 and it's just not been good enough. We
00:22 can't have performances like that and it's disappointing because we started the game
00:26 so well and it's obviously a must-win game and it's not gone our way again.
00:31 Because it's fair to say that you should have been 3-1 up, 4-1 up at half-time and I know
00:37 it's easy to say but it's missed chances isn't it and soft goals that's just cost you all
00:41 season.
00:42 Yeah, exactly, it's the same thing. Yeah, just not been good enough performance-wise
00:47 overall, not taking our chances, being clinical when we needed to and then obviously defensively,
00:54 myself included, have been very poor this season, conceding far too many goals and when
00:58 you're conceding that many goals, it's tough to win games in this league. Speaking to the
01:04 manager, everyone's got a plan for next year and we're going to regroup in the summer,
01:09 get it right and then have a right go next year.
01:12 Because clearly it's been individual errors and a few other things with the goals going
01:17 in but that's got to be something that as a defender really frustrates you that it has
01:22 kind of just got away in games hasn't it, that 2 has turned to 3 and 4?
01:26 Yeah, exactly and we've spoken about it many times and we've tried to, even when we're
01:30 going 2, we've had talks about what we need to do and it just seems that nothing's gone
01:35 our way and we've ended up conceding 3 and 4 again today and 5 in the end.
01:41 And yeah, it's disappointing for the fans as well because they've stuck with us the
01:45 whole season, there again today at St James' Park in full, singing throughout the game
01:51 and it's disappointing for them because it's been such a poor season overall and we see
01:57 that as players and we wanted to give them, not a good send off today but just a good
02:04 performance overall and it started really well and it's ended up going the opposite
02:08 way again for us.
02:11 What do you have to learn from this season? Is that key now that something comes out of
02:17 this really tough experience?
02:18 Yeah, of course, we'll look back on all the games and how we've played and where we've
02:24 went wrong and we'll be able to put that right in pre-season in the summer and the Championship's
02:31 a different ball game compared to the Premier League but it's going to be another tough
02:35 season but we're all behind everyone here and we want to regroup and we want to have
02:41 a right go next year and obviously the aim next year will be to come straight back up.
02:46 Do you need to, I was just going to finally say in terms of the supporters, you've mentioned
02:50 them already but for them to, a lot of them stayed, a lot of them clapped you off at the
02:54 end, there were songs in that final five minutes, it's impressive isn't it on a day they've
02:59 seen their club go down, it means a lot to them.
03:01 Yeah of course, I mean the supporters have been brilliant as I said all season and it's
03:06 on us as players, we've got to look ourselves in the mirror and say that's not good enough
03:10 for them because at the end of the day nothing's bigger than the supporters, they pretty much
03:15 run the club and they're the backing behind it and it's been a tough season for them and
03:22 yeah all I can say is it's not been good enough but we'll make sure we regroup in the summer
03:28 and the main goal next year will be to put those performances right and to get this place
