00:00 "It doesn't matter how hard it gets, or how many of them fall.
00:05 They keep on fighting."
00:07 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at 10 games to play while you wait
00:13 for Fallout 5.
00:15 Sometime within the next century.
00:17 Maybe two.
00:18 "I trust everything to you, Optim.
00:20 Don't let me down."
00:23 Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:27 Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:31 The Outer Worlds.
00:32 "Ain't safe out here.
00:33 You'd best head into town.
00:34 Avail yourself of Edgewater's high walls.
00:38 And low, low prices."
00:40 A sci-fi RPG might seem like a bit of a stretch to recommend to Fallout fans, but given that
00:46 Obsidian Entertainment houses some staff who worked on New Vegas and even the older Fallout
00:51 games, it will speak to you more than you may think.
00:54 The Outer Worlds follows the formula of those older titles, and encourages you to roleplay
00:59 as deeply as you want.
01:01 You can be the space scoundrel that specializes in pistols.
01:04 You can invest stats into your charisma, and see how often you can sweet-talk your way
01:08 out of a situation.
01:10 Or you can unlock special dialogue for just having insanely low intelligence.
01:15 There are so many different ways to play The Outer Worlds that it's like reliving the
01:19 magic of New Vegas all over again.
01:21 "Yes, I suppose I must."
01:24 "Here you are.
01:25 Gravesite papers affixed with my signature, and an I.O.U."
01:30 Wasteland series.
01:40 For those unfamiliar, the original Wasteland is actually what inspired the Fallout games
01:45 way back in 1988.
01:48 The difference between them is in tone, and what type of RPG they are.
01:52 Whereas Fallout is this goofy FPS with RPG mechanics, Wasteland is a much more serious
01:58 CRPG where you have a top-down perspective and spend just a bit more time in menus and
02:03 dialogue scenes.
02:04 Sounds unappealing on the surface, but Wasteland can be just as captivating as Fallout, with
02:09 its garish beasts and grim subject matter.
02:12 Whether you want to play the originals or the latest game, every game in the series
02:16 is available on PC, while Wasteland 2 and 3 are playable on console.
02:30 Borderlands 2.
02:36 This recommendation might seem odd at first, after all Fallout is more of an RPG first
02:41 and a shooter second, at least from Fallout 3 onwards.
02:44 Borderlands is a shooter first and an RPG second, but the way it integrates the two
02:49 is done rather well.
02:51 The reason why we're spotlighting Borderlands 2 particularly is because of how each character
02:55 plays totally differently than the rest.
02:58 With each character having three separate skill trees, you have so many different builds
03:02 to play with while experiencing a great story.
03:05 In other words, Fallout fans should feel right at home here, just don't expect any of the
03:10 other installments in the franchise to reach the same level of quality.
03:13 Take it from a Borderlands fan.
03:15 It's not pretty after this, but Borderlands 2 is definitely worth it.
03:25 Stalker Series.
03:31 Part of Fallout's appeal is what little survival mechanics there are.
03:35 You can eat and drink stuff to bolster your stats, but most of it is temporary.
03:39 If you want a game with a little more inventory management and survival mechanics, then Stalker
03:44 might be up your alley.
03:45 We have to warn you, these games may not be for the faint of heart.
03:49 Stalker leans more heavily into the horrors of nuclear Fallout than Fallout or even Wasteland
03:54 do.
03:55 But hey, if the upcoming sequel is looking interesting to you, now is an excellent time
04:00 to jump into these games, especially since developer GSC Game World released all three
04:04 of the original games on console.
04:11 Cyberpunk 2077.
04:18 Much like The Outer Worlds, Cyberpunk 2077 excels in the same area as Fallout New Vegas
04:23 did, character creation.
04:26 Originally, Cyberpunk 2077 faltered in this as you would get to such a high level that
04:30 you could basically play however you wanted to, regardless of your investment in certain
04:35 stats.
04:36 But as of the 2.0 update, your stats matter now more than ever.
04:39 And with an incredible story, fun side quests, and hidden secrets scattered across Night
04:44 City, you might want to consider multiple playthroughs if you want to see everything
04:48 this game has to offer.
04:52 Mad Max.
04:57 Now if you're wanting an apocalyptic game that has nothing to do with nuclear technology,
05:02 Mad Max is an excellent break from that.
05:05 Taking place before the events of the Fury Road movie, Mad Max thrusts you into a wasteland
05:10 of sand, dust, scrap metal, and raging motors.
05:14 As you help improve what few settlements remain and wear down Scabrous Scrotus' forces,
05:18 you will acquire parts to upgrade your vehicle, the Magnum Opus.
05:21 You'll unlock various tools like a harpoon, spikes, shotguns, knuckle bracers, and more
05:27 to lay the hurt on those who dream to live, die, and live again.
05:32 So if you want a break from discussions of nukes but want a post-apocalyptic world to
05:35 play in, then come on over to a world of fire and blood.
05:49 Endzone - A World Apart
05:57 For those of you who actually enjoyed the base-building mechanics of Fallout 4, even
06:01 the mobile spinoff Fallout Shelter, you might want to check this game out.
06:06 Endzone - A World Apart tasks you with building and governing a new society amidst the aftermath
06:11 of a global ecological catastrophe.
06:14 Send out explorers to gather resources and find what few survivors may be out there to
06:19 help expand and grow your new civilization as you endure the deadly effects of radiation.
06:25 Yes, it is a little more technical and demanding than Fallout Shelter, but if you want something
06:29 with some extra challenge, Endzone might be perfect for you.
06:33 Plus, a sequel is coming in the tail end of 2024, so now is a great time to try this out
06:39 for yourself.
06:46 Mutant Year Zero - Road to Eden
06:53 Now this one is specific to what few Fallout Tactics fans remain out there.
06:58 Mutant Year Zero has more of a cartoonish style in its visuals and character design,
07:03 but the gameplay is just as engaging.
07:06 You will take control of Selma, Dux, and Bormin as they venture out into a brutal world of
07:11 nuclear war and disease.
07:13 Whether you choose to have your party explore together or separately is up to you.
07:18 Just be aware that searching and using flashlights can get your characters spotted easily, so
07:23 you will have to strategize how much time you're spending in fights versus scavenging
07:27 around.
07:38 Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic
07:47 Now this might be the most anti-Fallout game we could possibly recommend, but this goes
07:51 out to those who love the immersive nature of RPGs in general.
07:55 Though it is set in the Star Wars franchise, Knights of the Old Republic tells a unique
07:59 story that gives you almost total freedom in how you want to experience it.
08:04 You can choose to be the heroic Jedi Knight or the menacing Sith Lord you've always
08:08 wanted to be while meeting interesting characters along the way.
08:11 The character creation may not get super deep, but story junkies will definitely get a kick
08:16 out of Knights of the Old Republic, regardless of their passion or impassion for Star Wars.
08:30 Metro Series - Fallout
08:37 This one has long been one of the more obvious choices for Fallout fans to experience.
08:42 The Metro games, however, don't really give much room for roleplaying.
08:46 Despite this, they still deliver a brilliant experience to the player.
08:50 From the bleak depiction of an apocalyptic Moscow to the commentary on the horrors of
08:54 nuclear weaponry, the Metro series will satisfy any Fallout fan who enjoys thought-provoking
09:00 narratives and intense encounters with unholy monstrosities born from radiation.
09:05 A fourth game is in development at the time of this video, and you can usually get a bundle
09:09 of all three games at a really great price if you catch it on sale.
09:18 But what game do you think Fallout fans should try out for themselves?
09:24 Did it make our list?
09:26 Let us know down in the comments, and be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays for more great
09:30 videos every day.
09:31 Thanks for watching.
