00:03 And I think there is some conversation.
00:04 Of course, the Buffalo Bills have pretty much cleaned house.
00:07 They had to because of all the cap space they have or
00:09 do not have at this current point entering 2024.
00:13 But mainly the wide receiver room, no longer Stephon Diggs, no longer Gabe Davis.
00:18 Really, Khalil Shakir is their top guy at the moment.
00:21 That can't be the case for Josh Allen and
00:24 the Bills entering the 2024 NFL season when it begins.
00:28 So there is some talent at the wide receiver spot, but it was the big three,
00:32 then a drop off to Brian Thomas Jr.
00:34 And then probably a drop off to the other wide receivers in this class.
00:38 Seven wide outs ended up going in the first round over the draft position prop.
00:42 With some plus money, it wasn't the expected outcome.
00:44 We thought six or less.
00:46 We got seven on the opening night.
00:48 But A.D. Mitchell out of Texas, big body, big play wide receiver still there.
00:53 Lad McConkey from Georgia, maybe as reliable as a receiver as you will see.
00:59 Still on the board right now if Buffalo goes the rookie wide out route.
01:04 And I would just argue this.
01:06 If you're the Buffalo Bills, if you're Brandon Bean, if you make a trade for
01:10 one of those big name wide receivers, great, star power, Josh Allen would be happy.
01:15 But you're gonna have to pay him.
01:17 There is going to need to be an extension for Debo Samuel, for
01:20 Brandon Iyue, for T. Higgins.
01:23 And it's going to be at least $25 million, if not more than that.
01:27 And you're already not in a great space in terms of your cap room.
01:31 I actually think it might make more sense.
01:33 And I'm not saying Lad McConkey's better than T. Higgins or
01:36 A.D. Mitchell is better than Debo Samuel.
01:38 I'm not making that argument.
01:39 But all things taken into account, a rookie wide receiver on a four year day
01:44 to deal DRS might actually make more fiscal sense and
01:49 pay off in production wise long term than having to pay one of those big three names.
01:53 And also keep in mind, there's a lot of moves that you can make here.
01:56 There's no saying that with that first, let's just say if it is the first pick and
01:59 they keep it in the second round here, and they trade that for Brandon Iyue.
02:01 Let's just say they can't move up again and take one of these wide receivers in the
02:04 second round and say, we got our veteran guy and our young guy to grow with.
02:08 And you bring up a good point too.
02:09 Debo Samuel actually just got paid $49.
02:11 So I don't know if he's really angry about his contract at this point.
02:14 But Brandon Iyue is a wonderful wide receiver.
02:16 And quite frankly, the fit with the Buffalo Bills would be much better with Iyue.
02:20 That pure route runner on the outside beat you deep here.
02:22 Look, I love Debo Samuel.
02:24 He fits perfectly in that San Francisco offense along with Iyue.
02:27 But if I'm the Buffalo Bills, I don't need the Swiss Army knife.
02:29 I need the true number one outside wide receiver.
02:32 That's what Brandon Iyue would give you there.
02:34 So we're going to give some room here for the Buffalo Bills.
02:36 They could hit a home run today.
02:38 But if I do think they're just going to draft cornerback, let's just say, with their first
02:42 pick today, that's not going to be a great look.
02:44 Because again, just gets back to the point.
02:46 Surround your quarterbacks with talent.
02:48 It works out long term here.
02:49 And it doesn't look like the Buffalo Bills are doing that right now.
