Jada Toys Mega Man Ice Man 1:12 Scale Action Figure
Transcript
00:00I think before the Blue Bomber battles this boss, he should probably stop for a sweater.
00:05Here's a look at the brand new Jada Toys Mega Man Ice Man.
00:24From the groundbreaking video game Mega Man comes the iconic robot character action figures
00:28in 1.12 scale by Jada Toys.
00:30Under extreme weather conditions, Ice Man knows how to keep his cool.
00:34And with his ice slasher, he's ready for anything.
00:36He comes equipped with alternate heads, hands, and an ice accessory and stand.
00:40The packaging also includes nostalgic details from the original game.
00:43Ice Man may look small, but he's got quite the power.
00:46Add Ice Man to your collection today.
00:47Well, his world is full of ice, but it's far from being a winter wonderland.
00:52And just before, of course, we get a closer look at the new Jada Toys Mega Man Ice Man,
00:55I'd like to thank the folks over at Jada that did provide the sample we could have a look
00:58at.
00:59The Ice Man that we're about to have a look at, the earlier looked at Fire Man, and the
01:01figure before that, Mega Man, are all available online or in stores for around $20.
01:06Again, you'll see in a second, $20 goes a long way with all the things that you're getting
01:10with the figure.
01:11Ice Man's going to be a little bit shorter of a figure when you compare against the other
01:14two.
01:15He's actually not quite four inches.
01:16He's more three and three quarters of an inch in height.
01:19And that translates to a figure that's nine and a half centimeters tall.
01:23Unless you like the sauna, it's probably not a good idea to bring these two together.
01:26But here's what Ice Man looks like with the earlier looked at, and might I also add, taller
01:29Fire Man.
01:30He's also a lot shorter as well than the earlier looked at Mega Man.
01:33He really is the shortest of the three.
01:35While being short on size, Ice Man certainly isn't short on accessories.
01:38In fact, his accessory count is about the same as both Fire Man and Mega Man in that
01:42the figure comes included with an interchangeable head sculpt, the blast effect, the display
01:45stand, and a pair of interchangeable hands.
01:47Fire Man, of course, just had to swap out the hands in favor of fire effects on the
01:50ends of his forearms.
01:51But other than that, the quantity count is about the same.
01:54The first thing that we'll have a look at is the fact that not knocking everything in
01:57the process.
01:58The figure comes included, first of all, with a circular clear display stand.
02:01It doesn't serve a purpose necessarily for Ice Man, but it certainly does serve a purpose
02:05for his blast effect.
02:06He also comes included with an adjustable neck.
02:08Now this adjusts in two places, and you're basically just taking that and plugging it
02:11in place.
02:12I've noticed, though, that all of the holes for the J-Toy releases have swapped them out
02:16in favor of hexagonal stands.
02:17I guess that's just so that they're going to stay better in place.
02:20But he also, like I said, comes included with his ice slash attack.
02:24This is basically a really nice cone, a bit of clear blue plastic.
02:28Sort of looks like it's stacked on top of one another.
02:30It really does look good, though.
02:31And obviously, it's not going to be something that's going to attach onto the end of his
02:34hand.
02:35None of the figures, really, for that matter, have come included with blast effects that
02:37have attached to their arms.
02:38They're always ones that are basically just going to be floating along with them.
02:41Now, if you look at this, there is actually a hole right here.
02:44Again, one of the downsides, unfortunately, using translucent plastic.
02:48It's actually impossible to actually find the little hole, but it is right there.
02:51And then what we're going to do is just attach onto the bottom of it the display stand.
02:55And that just plugs in place.
02:57We probably won't be displaying it as high as that.
03:00Obviously, you want to have it a little bit more in line with Ice Man's arms.
03:03So you're just going to bring this down just a little bit.
03:05You can also, as well, bring it down this way, as well, depending on which way you want
03:08to have it displayed.
03:09And just to plug it back in place here, where, again, is the hole.
03:13Oh, it's right there.
03:14Almost thought I lost it.
03:16Again, you can have it displayed like that.
03:17I find, though, you really want to have it kind of angled this way, just to compensate
03:20the weight so it doesn't fall over.
03:22Just speaking of falling over, let's just move him over so he doesn't fall over.
03:25You also want to bring in, again, the flame effect that came with Fire Man, and also,
03:29as well, the blast effect that came with the Mega Buster for Mega Man.
03:31They're, again, all using the same type of display stand, and they attach the exact same
03:35way.
03:36Move those all out of the way.
03:38The figure also comes included, putting his head back over here, comes with a series of
03:42... Well, I won't say series.
03:43He comes with two interchangeable hands.
03:44One is kind of more of a relaxed hand, and then one is a hand that looked familiar to
03:48me.
03:49This is the one that we got from Mega Man.
03:50It seems to be identical.
03:52Again, reusing molds is not a new thing at all.
03:55Companies are always trying to find the way to save the most money.
03:57Again, the fact that you're just simply using the same hand as Mega Man doesn't really bother
04:01me at all.
04:02Changing out the hands is pretty easy, though.
04:03It's just a case, again, holding onto the forearm and just yanking off.
04:06Boy, that's a lot easier than I thought.
04:08Just yanking off the hands from Ice Man, I'm going to pop the one hand off, do the exact
04:12same on the other side, plug that back in place, and now Ice Man's got a couple of different
04:15hands than really what he started with.
04:18The thing that the figure also comes included with is an interchangeable head sculpt.
04:22I think I'm going to follow the same suit as Fire Man in the sense that I really like
04:25kind of the idea of displaying the bosses more with angrier expressions.
04:29Obviously, their goal in mind, their whole reasoning for programming in the first place
04:32is really to destroy Rock Man.
04:34So I think for that reason, I'm probably going to change the head out here, which again,
04:37like you have a neutral expression here for Ice Man.
04:39Looks like he's actually blowing bubbles here, like he's having himself a little wand and
04:43dipping in soap.
04:45And then he also has, again, like this expression, pretty much the same face, just an angrier
04:48expression on his eyes.
04:49And again, changing out the head, just want to pop that off, and then you're just going
04:53to get the new head here.
04:55And I find actually when you're putting it in place, it helps to kind of twist it back
04:58and forth.
04:59That really helps to kind of get it back on there.
05:00We'll just put the head over there for right now.
05:02We don't need a floating head for Ice Man, just rolling around here.
05:05And let's just move the...
05:06Actually, you know what?
05:07Just before we actually move that out of the way, just again, like if you want to have
05:09it displayed, while it doesn't attach at all to his hands, again, you can kind of get
05:13the next best thing.
05:14You just have the figure kind of displayed along like that.
05:16Let's move that out of the way.
05:19Getting a closer look though at Ice Man, really like the detailing on this guy.
05:22Using, I would imagine, a lot of the same molds, like for example, his arms.
05:25Let's just bring Mega Man back in here for a second, if I can actually hold on to him.
05:29You'd see the shoulder-wise, it seems to be the same.
05:32I know you're thinking for a second, wait a minute, wait a minute, that guy actually
05:35has a shorter arm.
05:36Well, he doesn't actually, if you look at it, but Mega Man, I'll really call him Rock
05:40Man.
05:42If you look at the back here, you can see like his shoulder pad was painted in blue.
05:44Ice Man actually has it painted in black, but it seems to be the exact same mold.
05:48The legs are also something that seems to be the exact same, and also the exact same
05:51egg-shaped feet.
05:52The thing that's different though is obviously, proportionately, he doesn't have the exact
05:56same length of leg, I mean, this part like right here for the top of his boot.
05:59And also notably too, he seems to be one that doesn't hit the gym as much, as Ice Man
06:04has a bit of a more roundish belly.
06:05He has a nice way of sculpted belt here.
06:08You can see like all the individual circles here painted very nicely.
06:11Things with white, of course, when you're painting things around it, there's always
06:14the often risk of that being bled onto the white, but you can see like the paint's pretty
06:18well handled here.
06:19He also has his ice pack on the back of his body, which again has the little energy health
06:23gauge.
06:24Heat Man, Fire Man actually had that on the back of his body also as well, so I like that
06:28they've kind of continued the trend there.
06:31But again, a really nice looking figure.
06:33I like that, first of all, when they painted the white, for example, it's not just a matte
06:36white either.
06:37They've kind of given it more smooth finish, very similar to Mega Man's.
06:41Similar also as well, the way they shined up the boots.
06:43Head sculpt again, like I really like this one, but again, like with both the head sculpts,
06:46I think they've done a really good job on these.
06:48Like just bring them back here for a second, just in case you forgot what the other head
06:50sculpt looked like.
06:51You know, even like the fur trim around his head, again, no real paint problems at all.
06:55Jada is really knocked out of the park when it comes to painting these guys.
06:58He has this on the back of his head, which I really don't know what it is.
07:01I think it's more just a section of Titan off, maybe the front of his hood, maybe perhaps,
07:05but that's nicely done there as well.
07:07Yeah, I really have no complaints at all with these figures.
07:09I'm loving this line so far.
07:10Now this is, again, only three of the potentially seven figures that we're getting from the
07:14first wave.
07:15I guess it really is a first and second wave.
07:17Only really the figures that we looked at in the last series of three reviews, Fire
07:20Man, Mega Man, of course, before that, and now Ice Man, only seem to be the three figures
07:24that Jada Toys has launched right now online.
07:27And again, I'm probably sure that we're going to be getting eventually, maybe within even
07:30this year, we're going to get the remaining Elec Man, Bomb Man, Cut Man, and Guts Man.
07:34As for the figures articulation, it's pretty much going to be the exact same as the other
07:37two that we've had a look at, although he's a little bit more limited.
07:40It seems like his head is, being that it's a little more closer in quarters to his torso,
07:44it doesn't seem to rotate or move back and forth as easily.
07:47Head looks up only by just a little bit though, and his head looks down.
07:50Again, you may have missed it for a second.
07:51Head also rocks back and forth too.
07:53Ice Man's arms come out because he has the hinge joint where they, like the hinge is
07:57actually long enough as well, so you can get a pretty good range from his arms.
08:00And of course, those can also rotate all the way around as well.
08:03The figure has only just a single hinge on the elbow.
08:05Just before we actually look at the hand articulation, I did also want to mention here that I noticed
08:08with his that no other robot seems to have had this so far.
08:12See the way it actually attaches here to the bicep section?
08:15You can see there's a very obvious peg visible.
08:17Now I thought these were sticking out too much, so I tried to push them back in, but
08:21it doesn't seem to be the case.
08:22Ice Man is the only one I've noticed so far that seems to have a visible peg right here.
08:28Mega Man doesn't have it, so again, like we just bring back in Mega Man, see, his was
08:31actually right close to his bicep.
08:33And Fire Man, if we just bring him back in, also didn't seem to have that issue at all.
08:37So there's something about Ice Man though, like the peg, it almost seems as if they rounded
08:41this back a little bit further.
08:43Maybe that's also to give him some additional hinging there for his elbow, but either way,
08:47there's a little more of a visible hinge there.
08:49And again, the hands rotate all the way around.
08:52The upper torso, surprisingly, I kind of thought that this would be all one piece, but I was
08:56really pleasantly surprised to see that they actually still incorporated a ball joint at
09:00the top of his torso.
09:01It doesn't have anything here for the lower waist.
09:03Legs do split out though, and you can take them and move them forward and move them back.
09:06You probably have already noticed though that the figure has his feet sort of kind of curved
09:09inward.
09:10Mega Man doesn't have that.
09:11Obviously, he would have had longer legs as well.
09:13But I noticed though, when it comes to displaying Ice Man, his legs are notably a little bit
09:17more kind of inward, like kind of the opposite of bow legs, kind of inward bow legs.
09:22He does have, like I said, a hinge there, a swivel there, back and forth.
09:25He does also have an ankle rocker, forward and back motion also in the legs.
09:29And again, I really liked the idea that not only did we get a hinge here, right here on
09:33the ankles, but also as well that they afforded all these figures ankle rockers.
09:37It really does give the option as well, if you want to really get these guys displayed
09:40as, you guys certainly have seen in these reviews, hopefully, and I know I'm not the
09:43best pose when it comes to those kinds of things, but I mean, even like getting these
09:45figures posed, having that ankle rocker really does come in handy.
09:49Let's move over Ice Man, just put Mega Man here right front and center, and then off
09:54to the side here with his fiery mohawk.
09:55Here's also what he looks like with Fire Man.
09:57Yeah, so this is the first wave.
09:58And again, like advertised on the bottom of the packaging, they've already got picture
10:01images of Elec Man, Bomb Man, Cut Man, and Guts Man.
10:05I'm definitely looking forward to getting that.
10:07I would imagine that probably Guts Man is going to be obviously the largest figure.
10:10He's obviously the largest boss in the first Mega Man video game.
10:14So I probably would imagine that.
10:15I don't know if they're probably going to be, I would think that they're probably going
10:17to use the exact same packaging.
10:18He's just going to take up a lot more real estate space inside of it.
10:21But yeah, really liking this line so far.
10:23Admittingly, Mega Man 1 is not my favorite of the franchise.
10:26I don't think many people would say like Mega Man, the first Mega Man is probably the best.
10:29I don't know whether that award would either go to Mega Man 2 or Mega Man 3.
10:32It's usually a toss between Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3.
10:34I personally prefer Mega Man 2 as the superior of the sequels.
10:38But what's yours?
10:39Let me know down below in the comment section.
10:41Following the checkbox format of these reviews, obviously I was tackled with figures post
10:44building near the end of it.
10:45And I mean, again, I'm impressed for a $20 figure.
10:48Think of it again, like the fact that Jada is offering these figures for $19.99 online.
10:51I mean, I can't speak for really what they're selling for in stores because we don't have
10:55the availability of these figures in stores, but certainly online for a $20 figure, you
11:00would imagine that they would only have just ball joints in the head, probably ball joints
11:02similar in the shoulders and the tops of the thighs, and maybe even hinges in the knees.
11:06And that's probably about it.
11:07But the fact that even a character as small as Iceman would not only have that also in
11:11his elbows, in his knees, ankle rockers, but also as well that they would actually pack
11:16a ball joint just below the belt or just behind the belt as the figure also has an abdomen
11:20ball joint as well.
11:21I mean, obviously we got that with Mega Man and we did get that as well with Fire Man.
11:25I mean, they could have found an opportunity here just to save a little bit of the cost
11:29and only just give him the regular body and then just attach all the bullet ball joints
11:33onto that.
11:34But the fact that Iceman also has a ball joint there as well is super impressive.
11:37I mean, again, for a figure that goes for the price that he's going for, that he includes
11:41two different interchangeable heads, hands, and again, a blast effect that can attach
11:45onto an adjustable, I might also add, adjustable neck stand.
11:49That's not again bad for $20.
11:51And the fact that they're all scaled differently from one another means obviously, yes, they
11:55did use some of the parts from one figure to the other, but it isn't just a carbon
11:58copy rinse and repeat with all of them, that they definitely did scale them accurately
12:02to the way that they would have been in the game.
12:04Iceman is a smaller boss in the game and that translates here as well to the figure from
12:08Jada Toys.
12:09Big thank you.
12:10A big thank you once again to the folks over at Jada that did provide the sample of obviously
12:13the one that we wrapped up the review here with Iceman, but the earlier looked at a Fire
12:17Man and then just before that, we also looked at Rockman, Mega Man himself.
12:20Of the three figures that we've looked at so far, let me know down below in the comments
12:24section what you guys think is your favorite.
12:25I mean, obviously I would still have to go with Mega Man because obviously the series
12:29is based on him.
12:30So I'd have to go with him as probably my favorite.
12:32And then after that, I have to go with Fire Man.
12:33Love the look of Fire Man.
12:34But what's your favorite?
12:35Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:37As I already mentioned, these are available as of right now.
12:39Again, I can't speak for how available they are in stores, but here in Canada, distribution
12:44isn't always the greatest.
12:45I haven't yet seen these in local stores, but I can certainly tell you online, they're
12:48again going for $19.99.
12:50If you guys did enjoy this video, I want to throw it a like.
12:52If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing.
12:55We are wrapping up, sad to say, the reviews of Mega Man, just because again, there's only
12:58the three figures right now for what we have to look at, but again, there's going to be
13:02those four teased characters down below at the bottom of the packaging.
13:06So eventually when Jada Toys does release those, certainly we'd like to have a look
13:08at those also here as well on the channel.
13:10But while we are wrapping things up right now for Rockman series figures, there's definitely
13:14going to be a lot more videos coming your way.
13:15So yes, making sure you hit that subscribe button down below is always the most important
13:18thing and turning on the bell notification.
13:19Okay, fair enough.
13:20That's an equally important thing as well.
13:22But the biggest, most important thing is that you're coming back here on a regular basis.
13:26As always guys, thanks for watching.
13:27See you guys next time.
