00:00Looking at some other wide options, of course, someone who we've spoken about a lot in recent weeks and well, across the season, to be honest, is Jairzinho Somerville, Leeds top scorer, star man, EFL player of the season, just to add that in there as well.
00:15Yeah.
00:17He's been brilliant this season. I think there's no other way of putting it.
00:20And so come the summer, obviously, if Leeds go up, it becomes a bit easier to hold on to him.
00:25But if Leeds were not to go up and it was if it was the playoffs and you missed out.
00:29Yeah.
00:30Again, does that make it tricky to hold on to someone of his talent?
00:33Well, I think so. Yeah. I mean, I think you've just got to be brutally honest about that, haven't you?
00:37I mean, well, first and foremost, let's just hope Leeds go up.
00:40Obviously, that's all we want. Obviously, get back into the Premier League and do it without the playoffs.
00:43If it's through the playoffs, then great. But I mean, I don't think anybody wants to go through that, the nerves that would involve.
00:48So and yes, quite simply, if Leeds go up, it becomes a lot harder to keep a star like him.
00:53But I think he is destined for very, very big things.
00:55Crysenzio Somerville. What was interesting was obviously he had a starring role again in the game against Borough, just ice cold from the penalty spot.
01:01And then his second goal was just trademark Somerville, wasn't it?
01:04You know, like cutting in and that finishing to the far corner.
01:06And you almost feel like opposition defences probably know what he's going to do with that.
01:10But they still can't stop him because he's so sort of like, you know, quick and nimble on his feet and has got a good finish on him.
01:15And he's really gone from strength to strength. He's still obviously very, very young at 22.
01:19It's only a couple of years ago he was literally playing for Leeds under 21.
01:22So, I mean, there's obviously going to be an awful lot of improvement to come from him still internationally as well.
01:28I think it's only a matter of time before he gets in the Netherlands squad and starts playing for them.
01:31You know, he looks like a player that's really, really going places.
01:34But as I say, post-match Patrick Bamford was interviewed on Sky.
01:38And Pat sort of said, you know, how he'd been around for a while, Somerville, obviously, because they'd signed him initially for the 21s.
01:43And Bamford said, you know, you could tell straight away with him that this guy was really good.
01:47He had a lot of quality about him and that it was more about sort of like the mindset, really, and sort of like the mental side of it.
01:52And just like getting stuck in, I suppose, application and whatnot, which is the case for a lot of young players.
01:56But he's really got that, seems to have got that nailed down now.
01:59I mean, in terms of his focus and stuff, like I say, I mean, with the penalty,
02:02like you almost, some players step up and take a penalty and you sort of think, oh, you know, like you see this getting missed.
02:07And you never know with anybody, even the best, like Kane and people miss penalties, obviously.
02:11But with him, you almost don't feel like he's going to, you know, you have a lot of confidence in him.
02:15He's so ice cool, as I say, from the spot and just in most situations.
02:19And he is basically Leeds' star man.
02:21It's always a bit difficult to sort of point out and say, oh, this is Leeds' best player.
02:24And it's not an easy thing to do. And it's probably something that squads, you know, I don't know, don't like.
02:28But, you know, we do that as journalists and sort of say who's star man is and whatever.
02:31And I think he probably is. He's got an awful lot of talented players. Leeds, obviously, roots out.
02:34Obviously, his record signing when he's on his day, he's unplayable, really, in the championship.
02:38He's been a bit up and down of late, much better against Borough, obviously.
02:42And then Archie Gray with the world at his feet at his age.
02:45Willy Nonto and Padou has obviously been outstanding.
02:47But Somerville's the one that's making it happen.
02:49And that, again, as we said about Dan James's figures, the figures speak for himself with Crisensio.
02:54I mean, 19 goals and nine assists.
02:56You know, he's third now in the top scorer list in the championship,
02:59which, again, is really good going when you're a winger.
03:02So a fantastic, fantastic season.
03:04And yeah, you know, no surprise, really, that he was the EFL Championship Player of the Year.
03:08Obviously, there's a lot of competition with people like Smodics and stuff and whatever.
03:11And obviously, Leicester players and, you know, you saw someone like Fataoui, what he's been doing at Leicester.
03:15But he is a really, really special talent.
03:17And basically, put simply, he's destined for the Premier League, isn't he?
03:21I mean, I know he's had a taste of it before, but he's a bit older now.
03:23He's got better. He's improved his game. He's still getting better.
03:26And he's a player, really, if you're being realistic, that you couldn't imagine not playing Premier League football next season,
03:32to be quite honest, and you just hope that's with Leeds.
03:34And, you know, we do these shows all the time, and this is the name of the game, and this is what it's all about.
03:39If you're a good player and you're shining for your club, then other teams are going to look at you,
03:42which is great, obviously, because it's sort of like, you know, it's praise and it shows how well you're doing.
03:47That then becomes a battle then for clubs to keep the best players.
03:50And obviously, you know, we've seen that, I suppose, with Leeds and the highest profile with Phillips,
03:53which hasn't really gone to plan with him at City.
03:55But Rafinha is the big one, obviously, in terms of his move that he got,
03:58and it was always obvious for some time that he was going to go.
04:01I think you'd be stretching it to say that, sort of like, Somerville's the next Rafinha or something like that at this stage.
04:05I mean, you don't want to go too overboard, you know what I mean?
04:07But he is a very, very good young player who is definitely, definitely getting better.
04:11And, yeah, as I say, it's surely destined for the Premier League.
04:14And what Leeds need to make sure is that they go up destined for the Premier League with Leeds.
04:18Because I think, obviously, you know, fans aren't daft and they know the situation.
04:22And, you know, they sort of see it, the squad that Leeds have got.
04:25And a lot of people, I think, even say, with the squad that Leeds have got,
04:28they should be getting promoted, you know, and automatically promoted as that.
04:32And I kind of see that point of view.
04:34The only thing I would add to that is that you've got to bear in mind, you know,
04:37the situation, what it was like over the summer.
04:39I mean, it was crazy, the number of exits they had and loan relegation release clauses.
04:43So they're always going to be playing catch up.
04:44And Daniel Farke did very, very well to sort that out so quickly.
04:47But they do need to be going up because, quite simply,
04:50your best players are destined for the top level, you know.
04:52And he's definitely one of them, along with Archie, because of his age.
04:55He's probably at the top of that list.
04:56A very, very, very extremely talented player who will hopefully add to that tally
05:01in these next two games to get Leeds over the line.
