It’s no doubt that the goal of the season catalogues aren’t as great as they used to be.
As the Premier League season is nearing it’s conclusion, there’s been some epic moments throughout and goals to show for it. So is there a clear winner for the goal of the season and if so, who deserves an honourable mention for the efforts to find the back of the net?

00:00It's no doubt that the Goal of the Season catalogues aren't as great as they used to be.
00:07With the implementation of Tiki Taka, teams are now seemingly afraid to have a long-range effort on goal.
00:14Looking back across the moments of magic this season though, is there a standout effort for the Goal of the Season award?
00:22Dan, looking across the Premier League season and the goals that have been scored,
00:28obviously we've mentioned that the Goal catalogues aren't as good as they used to be in terms of these long-range efforts.
00:35But there have been a few special moments this season.
00:38Who do you think will get the Goal of the Season?
00:40And have you got any honourable mentions that if you were deciding you'd give it to?
00:45I think if we're honest, we all know where it's probably going to go.
00:50And that's Alejandro Garnacho's overhead kick against Everton.
00:55Let's be honest, when something like that happens, which it only does happen quite rarely, it tends to be looked on pretty favourably.
01:01I mean, obviously, you could probably give him that chance a few times.
01:05And I'd say I'd bet half the time it comes off his shin or it goes straight into the crowd or nowhere near the goal.
01:13But the fact that he's caught it so sweetly at that time, in that motion, doing a bicycle kick, it's worthy of applause.
01:22And of course, it's beaten Jordan Pickford all ends up and given him absolutely no chance.
01:26And just to watch that, it's one of those where time sort of goes a little bit slower.
01:32You sort of watch it in slow motion as it's happening and you're just like, wow.
01:36So I think it has to be that.
01:39I mean, from my point of view, there's been some good ones at Newcastle this season.
01:42Alexander Isaac and Anthony Gordon have both scored their fair share of great goals.
01:46Two of which, in particular, against Manchester City in a 3-2 loss at St James' Park.
01:51Both of which were actually carbon copies of each other.
01:53Pretty much both of them.
01:55They have the ball on the left entering the box area, cut inside and both curl it round the goalkeeper.
02:02There's got to be a couple of honourable mentions and ones I'm connected to.
02:06Brighton, of course, you can see the scarf behind me.
02:10Karamatoma's goal against Wolves at the start of the season.
02:13Charles, I know you won't be happy to hear that as a Wolves fan.
02:15I was there for that.
02:17One of the best goals I've ever seen in the flesh.
02:19He beat three, four, five defenders to get through the middle.
02:22The burst of pace, the change in direction, the acceleration and then the finish as well.
02:27At that time, I thought, OK, that's goal of the season done then.
02:30It was a bit like Heung-Min Song's against Burnley a year or two ago.
02:33But if anything, it required a bit more trickery.
02:36So that was definitely up there.
02:38And then Mateusz Kunia, a Wolves player, against Nottingham Forest.
02:41I think he has to have a bit of a shout, at least on the shortlist, for his goal.
02:45The way he took it in his own half and beat so many defenders,
02:49turned his back, spun and then put it in that top corner.
02:52On his return as well, by the way.
02:54He's not been playing football for quite a long time.
02:56Very, very impressive.
02:58So that's got to be a contender as well.
