00:00 Major college football programs are trying to get their players onto the field for the 2020 season
00:04 But there are some obstacles don't need to discuss those obstacles or sports illustrators Ross Dillinger and Washington Husky insider Dan Raley
00:12 Ross let me start with you
00:14 What are some of the things that you are seeing that players are talking about as far as these?
00:18 Obstacles to getting on the field and staying healthy this season
00:21 Well right now, you know the group of back 12 players have basically formed a union
00:29 And they've created demands that they are making to Larry Scott the PAC 12 commissioner right now. There's an exchange of
00:37 communication between the
00:39 This new Union which they're calling themselves
00:42 We are united using the hashtag on Twitter and they're in communication right now with the PAC 12
00:48 Commissioner Larry Scott in requesting daily zoom calls and you know making certain demands
00:56 Many of them are reasonable others not not so much. So certainly something to follow, you know, they want to be
01:02 cared for when it comes to the
01:05 COVID-19 and they want certain
01:08 Certain measures taken they they they want some when it comes to monetary stuff. They want some revenue as well
01:15 So it's an interesting
01:17 interesting story to follow, you know
01:19 SI obtained the email from
01:23 The Union the players Union basically the PAC 12 players is into the commissioner
01:28 That was sent Sunday and the commissioner responded Monday. He seems open to talking
01:32 Then what's things looking like on the Washington Husky campus with their team
01:38 Well, it looks like there's a lot of support, but it's it's not universal and like in any labor movement
01:45 That's kind of the key to how how these things play out
01:50 You know that it could either pull bring a stoppage or else if it's a split support
01:55 They might move on without the people that don't want to play without having their demands met
02:01 Ross let me get let me ask you one more question Ross
02:04 How are the players that have tested positive in the past feeling and are they going to be a lot of opt-outs this season?
02:10 We're seeing more and more players go public with their symptoms and some of them somewhat serious, you know
02:18 We saw a lot of players in the last couple days have posted message on messages on Twitter about how they have
02:25 lost a lot of weight from
02:27 Contracting the virus. So one of them had to be taken to the ER because of breathing issues in Indiana
02:33 Offensive linemen, so we're we're starting to see some players get go more and more public with their symptoms
02:40 And so this is not just necessarily about the death rate and even the hospitalizations, you know
02:46 There there obviously is a sentiment out there that young healthy athletes
02:51 Don't have any symptoms and don't get sick and we're starting to see that's not true
02:56 All right. Thank you very much Ross. Thank you very much
02:59 Dan all the latest news revolving the world of college football and if they can get on the field and stay on the field this
03:05 Season where your source right here at SI calm
