The Titans are not looking to trade wide receiver AJ Brown
Transcript
00:00I'm glad that Montana Patterson with Fan Nation now joining me is David Boclaire.
00:07He's the publisher for all Titans here on Fan Nation and David,
00:11Tennessee Titans general manager John Robinson said on Thursday
00:15that he does not foresee a trade happening for wide receiver AJ Brown.
00:20Now, we know that AJ Brown wants a contract extension.
00:24So what's the status with that as of now?
00:26Well, it's just a lot of kind of offseason drama, I guess.
00:30You know, the whole thing with AJ Brown has been heightened this week because he
00:35didn't report for the start of voluntary workouts and has sort of made it known
00:40through his agent that he doesn't plan to report at all this offseason unless he
00:45gets a contract extension done.
00:48And, you know, that doesn't really jive with the Titans' timetable.
00:51They typically like to do these things right at the start of training camp.
00:55So somebody's going to have to give.
00:58Somebody's going to have to be unhappy with however it plays out.
01:02But I think everybody should relax a little bit.
01:07I don't think there's any doubt that John Robinson was telling the truth.
01:11He wasn't just sort of providing a soundbite.
01:14You know, this is a guy that sort of fits with what the management of this team
01:21wants from its players in terms of production and attitude and a lot
01:25of different things.
01:26And, you know, it's really a matter of when, not if, an extension's
01:31going to get done.
01:32How important is AJ Brown to this Tennessee Titans offense?
01:36He's huge.
01:37He's, you know, keep in mind, he's really important to the fan base, too.
01:41This is a franchise that got Carl Pickens, Randy Moss, and Julio Jones all
01:47in the later stages of their careers, for example, and none of them worked out.
01:51You know, they directed Kevin Dyson in the first round, and Dyson was a good
01:54player, had some memorable moments.
01:55But this is a fan base, you know, since 1997, when this team showed up,
02:01that has been dying for a big play wide receiver.
02:04And AJ Brown is exactly that, a guy who's averaged 16.2 yards per reception
02:09for his career.
02:10He's just shy of 1,000 yards a season for his career.
02:14He's led the team in receiving every year he's been here.
02:17But he just shows up, and he plays, and he plays.
02:20It's the kind of thing that teammates really respect, that coaches really
02:23respect, and that management really respects, and it's very much something,
02:28like I say, that the Titans want to, you know, in him to be a part
02:32of this organization.
