00:33 The newest Deadpool and Wolverine trailer is just the latest piece of evidence that
00:37 anticipation remains at a fever pitch.
00:39 But what about the fans who believe that this beloved member of the X-Men should have stayed
00:43 retired or perhaps been recast with a new actor?
00:46 Well, in quintessential Deadpool fashion, everyone's favorite Merc with the Mouth might
00:50 have just found a way to have his cake and eat it too.
00:52 The latest preview is heavy on the usual antics expected from a reunion between Ryan Reynolds
00:57 and his Adamantium-clad co-star, and eagle-eyed fans may have spotted a few sneaky teases
01:02 that potentially answer a longstanding loose thread about the film's multiverse-smashing

01:09 Considering the notoriously convoluted timeline shenanigans of the X-Men franchise, it's certainly

01:15 What Deadpool and Wolverine suggests is that this version of Logan might very well be one
01:19 that nobody has ever actually seen before.
01:21 If you thought that the MCU and all of its various alternate universes were complicated
01:25 enough, it's nothing compared to what the Merry Mutants have gotten up to.
01:29 The X-Men franchise infamously took concepts like "continuity" and "canon" and threw them
01:33 out the window from movie to movie, contradicting previously established lore like it was a

01:39 There was the timeline established by the 2000 film, which first introduced us to Jackman's
01:43 Wolverine and led to an entire trilogy.
01:46 Then 2009's X-Men Origins, Wolverine, came along and completely rewrote everything fans

01:53 Not to mention its version of Reynolds' Deadpool was severely retconned as well.
01:57 2014's Days of Future Past attempted to make sense of this chronological nightmare, but

02:16 Early in the trailer, it's revealed that Deadpool has crossed paths with the Wolverine who let
02:20 down the world, presumably by causing or failing to prevent an apocalyptic event.
02:24 Between that, the presence of the Time Variance Authority, and the return to the Void featured
02:28 in "Loki," all signs point to an alternate universe Logan who may not even have a timeline
02:33 of his own to return to anymore.
02:35 That takes his typical "lone wolf" personality to a whole new extreme.

02:41 It's far too early to say whether sticking Hugh Jackman back in the yellow spandex will

03:21 perhaps the nitty-gritty details that stir up passionate online debates simply don't
03:26 matter as much this time around.
