00:00Zhima. Zhima. It's a much softer Z rather than the Z in wheat, so I would maybe say Zhima.
00:06We are in Glasgow's new destination Chinese restaurant in the city centre.
00:11Tell me a little bit about the menu. What are the standout dishes?
00:15Standout dishes on Zima's menu have to be the dynamite shrimp to start, the drunken monkfish
00:23if you are a seafood lover, and if you're not, I would definitely recommend the fillet steak
00:28Cantonese style. There's a focus on Sichuan and Wuhan regions, but there is a broad geographical
00:34spread from across China and a lot of British influence in there, or British-Chinese influence
00:39would perhaps be better to say, as Chinese food has moved on in Britain since Chinese
00:46restaurants first opened here in the 70s and 80s. The environment you are in should be as high
00:51standard as the food you're eating and just as stylish as Chef Zorab's progressive Chinese menu.
00:58You've worked in the city centre for quite a while, what can you tell me about this kind of
01:03part of town? There's quite a few restaurants on this street. It's become a bit of a restaurant strip
01:09from the anchor line closest to George Square and then working up, and there's plenty of different
01:16cuisine options, there are plenty of different styles as well. Zhima is a little higher class
01:23without being snobby, whereas if you're looking for a more casual option there's plenty of choices
01:29here as well on St Vincent Street. It definitely has become a sort of mini restaurant quarter for
01:33Glasgow over the last decade. You've got a lovely big bar through there Jack, do you think people
01:38will come in here for a wee cocktail and a small plate as well? We hope so, we hope so. Fantastic
01:43bar area, I think it's five bar shelves, they go right to the ceiling which is about six metres up.
01:49We have a classic list of cocktails, a signature list and some mocktails as well, but as far as
01:55the classics go if there's not something on there that someone would like we're happy to accommodate.
