00:05 Round one.

00:08 [CROWD SHOUTING]
00:10 [BELL RINGING]
00:12 Round one.
00:13 [BELL RINGING]
00:15 [CROWD SHOUTING]
00:17 [BELL RINGING]
00:19 And like you said before, Brett, during the introduction,
00:21 sometimes having that combat sport experience,
00:24 they can't bring it into the boxing ring.
00:26 It is a different game.
00:27 But I just think with the experience that Kevin's got,
00:31 it's going to be interesting to see who settles first.
00:34 Both boys are in good shape, great shape.
00:36 They've come out swinging early.
00:38 So it's going to be interesting to see who sits.
00:40 Look at that.
00:41 Look at that by Karen Eides.
00:42 He can box.
00:43 There's no question about that.
00:44 The footwork, both boys, as I said,
00:46 they're both in good shape.
00:47 You've seen that Kevin's switched hit a couple of times
00:51 already.
00:52 It's early in the fight.
00:53 You're too early.
00:54 I was meant to mention that, the switching stances of Copham.
00:57 Well, then again, this is the guy that,
00:59 when I mention about the MMA experience,
01:01 he doesn't lose in MMA.
01:03 He's only lost one.
01:04 And he's had 10 fights.
01:05 So I've seen him win a lot of fights in MMA.
01:11 And this is a different aspect to his game.
01:14 And he was looking forward to putting on a show tonight
01:17 at Thunderdome 45.
01:18 Yeah, too.
01:19 He's got some nice footwork, you know.
01:21 For some reason, he's got a lot of power.
01:23 For someone that's only had, was it, six amateur fights,
01:26 he certainly looks --
01:27 There's a nice rip to the body.
01:28 That's a nice -- yeah, you called that nicely, Paul.
01:30 A nice lip and rip.
01:31 They pay dividends later on.
01:33 Punching to the body, I say it all the time,
01:35 it's like putting money in the bank.
01:36 When you want to go and restore it later down the track,
01:38 it's there waiting for you.
01:39 And it's going to be interesting here because both boys are
01:41 throwing a lot of punches.
01:42 You know, the pro debut, big crowd, you know,
01:46 the nerves, the energy, the adrenaline.
01:48 It's going to be who can settle first,
01:50 who can sit behind their punches,
01:51 who's going to sit on their punches.
01:54 Nice punch there by Teo.
01:55 But again, the volume is coming a lot from Cophamel.
01:58 But again, very technical battle here.
02:00 Fighting in the phone box at the moment.
02:06 That was nice left there by Cophamel.
02:08 He does possess a lot of power, but Teo fights back.
02:13 Teo's got some nice, short, sharp, crisp punches.
02:16 He's happy to sit on the inside and just throw these nice,
02:18 short punches like that.
02:19 Even though he missed there.
02:22 There it is again.
02:23 Just those short rights.
02:25 He's happy.
02:26 An entertaining fight.
02:33 Another nice body shot there by Teo.
02:39 He's found a home for that left rib.
02:48 He said, yeah, several parts of this round,
02:50 they've fought in very close, haven't they?
02:52 Yeah.
02:53 And they've both got good defenses.
02:55 Teo's really, he's just happy to move.
02:57 He's not staying still.
02:58 He's just constantly on the move.
03:00 He's just constantly side to side.
03:02 He's wearing, look at that.
03:05 See, both guys have landed some good shots in this opening
03:07 round as well.
03:08 Just when you think that someone's hurt,
03:10 they start throwing punches back.
03:11 That was nice power there by Cophamel.
03:15 That's the end of round one.
03:16 What a great first round.
03:17 That was action packed.
03:18 And both guys brought it.
03:20 High skill level as well.
03:22 So you can tell the amateur experience from Teo Karanidis
03:26 and Kevin Cophamel.
03:28 But there's a fight game experience on the floor.
03:31 Because again, he does have powerful hands.
03:33 But I mentioned before, I've seen him finishing fights on the
03:36 ground, which you can't use here tonight.
03:38 So that was a great first round.
03:40 Yeah, that was a really entertaining first round.
03:42 Both boys great skill, especially pro debut.
03:44 It doesn't matter what they've done away from boxing.
03:46 They've got to get back to the ring on the pro debut and show
03:48 that in the first round.
03:49 What I want to see now is just exactly what we've mentioned
03:51 before time and time again.
03:53 Who's going to settle first?
03:54 Who's going to sit behind the jabs,
03:56 sit down on the punches?
03:57 Because as you said, that's a tough round to score.
04:02 Cophamel, as you said, he probably threw the more volume.
04:05 But did he land the more punches?
04:07 I thought Teo covered up very well when he was throwing those
04:10 punches.
04:11 So very intriguing one to score as well.
04:15 Both guys will want the $500 U-Box Scarborough incentive that
04:20 Paul "The Main Man" Morrison has put on tonight.
04:23 This knockout of the night bonus.
04:26 Want to reward the fighters.
04:28 Yeah, I think it's a fantastic incentive.
04:31 And these guys, they bring out the extra in them and they want it.
04:39 Paul, that was a nice punch there by Teo.
04:41 Yeah.
04:44 So both guys still swinging wildly,
04:47 fighting very close in.
04:50 Not much action up against the ropes.
04:52 So that's a very good looking fight.
05:01 And Cophamel still switching stances.
05:04 Yeah, you can tell he's got the experience, Fred.
05:06 He's very relaxed in there.
05:07 I mean, so is Teo.
05:08 But switching like that, you know,
05:10 constantly on the move, he's experienced in there.
05:13 The main time I think that Cophamel is getting caught is when he
05:15 switches to southpaw.
05:19 Sometimes it's all well and good to do it in training.
05:22 When you're doing it in the ring against a boxer,
05:25 I mean to do that in MMA may be a bit different.
05:28 But boxers train for this specifically.
05:31 There's techniques that you can use for different hand fighters.
05:38 I'd like to see more than just one jab from both guys.
05:40 At the moment it's sort of one jab and back to --
05:43 Oh, that's a nice punch.
05:44 That might be the best punch of the fight there by Teo Karanidis.
05:47 Yeah, and it's giving him some confidence because the hands have come low
05:50 and he's happy to move the head.
05:53 There's that rip again.
05:55 But again, Kevin Cophamel, he's tough.
05:57 He's got a chin.
05:59 Especially, again, these guys are a lot bigger than he's used to as well.
06:02 Yeah.
06:05 Not in training, obviously,
06:06 but obviously in the actual ring or the cage as he's used to.
06:15 Oh, that's another --
06:16 Punches by both fighters landing here.
06:20 This is a great fight.
06:21 Yeah, sensational.
06:22 And again, it's why it's one of those fights to watch
06:25 that we've been talking about in the mainstream media.
06:29 Oh, another --
06:30 That's a nice left there by Cophamel.
06:34 He's got the volume here, but Teo's trying to fight back.
06:39 Lands a left of his own.
06:40 Crowd getting right into it once again.
06:43 They have been entertaining here, this one, our viewers at home as well.
06:47 They're enjoying this fight, that's for sure.
06:49 Yeah.
06:55 And they've both got great football,
06:56 but obviously with different combat sports,
06:58 it's just if they could sit down a little bit more on the punches,
07:01 just have a lot more heat in the kitchen.
07:04 And that's what's allowing them to take some of the punches
07:06 that they've taken that you're watching at home.
07:11 This is a really good fight.
07:12 Another nice punch there by Cophamel.
07:15 Teo's had his moments in this round as well.
07:17 Again, high-quality round of boxing, two rounds of boxing in the books.
07:23 Yeah, that is a great fight.
07:28 And there he goes, not taking a stool again.
07:29 Something that Paul "The Main Man" Morrison doesn't like.
07:33 But again, Teo Karanidis with Ruben "The Cuban" Sanchez
07:37 in the corner, red corner, taking the stool.
07:41 And you can see that Steve Ault experienced corner manning Cophamel.
07:44 Yeah.
07:45 He's staying nice and calm and relaxed, and so is Ruben.
07:48 But I think the pressure from Cuban is starting to take its toll on Teo over there.
07:54 He's still working out well.
07:55 This is still a great fight.
07:56 But I just think, like you said, the relentless pressure from Cuban
07:59 is solidly building to strong guy.
08:02 He looks like he's starting to take control towards the second half of that round.
08:08 Round number three, schedule for four.
08:10 We've got more action.
08:11 Do not go anywhere.
08:12 Got to get the ice out of the ring and the corner of Karanidis.
08:16 They're just ignoring it, but they'll probably spot it very shortly.
08:20 Yeah, it's Bill trying to kick the ice out.
08:24 Calls from Stephen Walton is to go to the body now.
08:27 So what do you think of that call, Paul?
08:29 Yeah, I'm a huge body puncher.
08:31 I think, as I said, it's money in the bank, and too many fighters neglect it.
08:36 And getting punched in the body hurts a lot more than the head.
08:39 People just don't understand unless they've had one.
08:41 Cophamel has pushed up the pace even more in this round, early stages of round three.
08:46 Again, it's been the skill and finesse of Teo Karanidis.
08:51 Oh, that's a nice punch there by Cophamel.
08:53 That bothered Teo then.
08:58 This certainly looks like it.
09:00 Cophamel's game plan is just work rate, just relentless pressure.
09:06 And as you said, Karanidis has probably got the silkiest skills,
09:10 but Cophamel's not letting him use that as much as he'd like.
09:18 And both boys are happy to stay and just trade.
09:20 Yeah, exactly.
09:21 There's no distance kept between the two.
09:22 They're basically happy to fight in close and throw punches.
09:25 And they say, "Let's see who comes on top."
09:28 I don't think that--I'm about to say that Cophamel hasn't switched stances as much,
09:34 but he just did it, so--but he's still happy to switch stances.
09:38 And as you said, Brady, I mean, he can take some punches.
09:40 He's taken a whack, you know.
09:44 You think--you give the power advantage to Cophamel,
09:46 and as I said, the volume is coming from his side as well.
09:49 I think that the skill and finesse is coming from the side of T.O. Karanidis.
09:53 And I think that that's the trick of it.
09:55 Oh, uppercut by T.O.
09:57 Huge punch.
09:58 But Cophamel just won it.
10:00 Yeah.
10:02 Great uppercut.
10:03 Another one.
10:04 He's found it again.
10:06 Well, I'd say an opening there, and he might go for it again.
10:08 He's landed two in this round.
10:12 And that's what I'd like to see Ruben instruct him with his corner,
10:15 to get T.O. to get back onto his jab and to use that distance
10:18 and to use his silky footwork and his movement like that,
10:21 because obviously that's where he's better served in this fight
10:25 than staying here and just trading,
10:27 because this is where Cophamel's at home.
10:30 He wants to be in close.
10:31 He wants to be using his size advantage, his weight,
10:34 and just the pressure that he's doing here.
10:36 And he's probably playing into the hands of Cophamel as well.
10:42 Crowd getting a bit louder.
10:43 I think they see another great punch from one of these fighters.
10:47 But they just haven't stopped throwing, and their cardio is there,
10:50 their skills are there.
10:54 But again, probably the two best punches of the round
10:56 has probably come from T.O.,
10:58 but the volume and punches landed is definitely on Cophamel's side.
11:03 Yeah, I mean, close his head.
11:05 Both boys credited themselves.
11:06 They're coming in great shape.
11:07 They're punching all night.
11:08 Oh, another one.
11:09 He's landed three great uppercuts.
11:10 A straight fire back there from Cophamel.
11:14 He's at 10-second range, and he went for 10 seconds straight out.
11:18 So he wants to finish this round strong.
11:20 Yeah, Cophamel's cut.
11:22 Yeah, I think it was one of those uppercuts that did it.
11:29 But it doesn't seem to affect him.
11:30 I mean, this is a great fight.
11:32 You've got to give the advantage so far to Cophamel.
11:35 I think T.O.'s going to have to pull something out of the bag to win this fight,
11:38 but he's got the skill to do it.
11:40 So it's not unlikely, but geez, Cophamel's tough.
11:45 He's come in great shape.
11:47 They're fit.
11:48 I think we're just in for a treat of a last round.
11:50 There's that uppercut.
11:51 That was a beautiful uppercut, as you saw in the replay.
11:54 And again, he landed one pretty much straight out there.
11:57 We'll probably see it in the replay here.
12:04 Again, phone box sort of stuff.
12:08 And that's not where -- if I was in T.O. Karanidis' corner,
12:11 I'd be imploring him to not get involved in that.
12:14 Even though he's having some great moments, I'd want him to just sit back,
12:17 get behind his jab, use his movement, and warp Cophamel onto the punches,
12:23 like that uppercut that we saw in that last round.
12:27 Fourth and final round.
12:28 Let's see who wants this one.
12:30 It's been a magnificent fight through three rounds.
12:32 Both boys want it.
12:34 You can see that.
12:35 The determination of both boys.
12:37 They want this fight.
12:38 This type of fight, I hope, doesn't go two rounds apiece where we have a draw.
12:41 But, I mean, plus side of that, I'll probably set up a rematch
12:44 because it's been such high quality.
12:46 But sometimes we see these sort of fights go five rounds.
12:52 I've got to say, Brett, I'm a traditionalist with boxing.
12:54 I'm happy with the even numbers.
12:58 You've been in there, so I trust your judgment on that.
13:00 But I'm also happy with the knockout.
13:03 But I think it's going to be hard because I wouldn't assume that the--
13:07 even though the first round was very close, I still think Cophamel is in front
13:13 on the scorecards.
13:14 I think Tate is going to need the knockout to win.
13:16 Yeah.
13:17 He's had some quality shots with that uppercut.
13:18 He landed one just a moment ago.
13:20 Oh, that's right hand, straight right hand gets through.
13:23 He's happy to get hit because he said he's got a chin.
13:27 And again, he's used to getting hit by those UFC style gloves.
13:36 But you can see why this fight was talked about so much in the mainstream media
13:40 building up to it.
13:41 I mean, and it's delivered.
13:42 It's lived up to expectations.
13:44 So far, so good.
13:45 And the best part is we've still got a minute and a half to go.
13:53 It's just work right in heart from here, Brett.
13:55 I can see they both want to win their pro debut.
13:57 They're desperate.
13:58 Game plan can go out the window at this stage.
14:00 They'll just need to start as they've done, just throwing.
14:02 Something that Tate will probably take away from this fight, win or lose,
14:06 is basically that he's had the boxing skills in this one,
14:09 but he hasn't been able to keep his distance and use his jab,
14:12 where he's played in a Cophamel's game.
14:14 Cophamel wants to be close, and he's played into his game.
14:17 So if he does lose that fight, this fight, he'll take a lot out of it
14:21 and probably learn from it.
14:22 Yeah.
14:23 And that's what I was mentioning.
14:24 It's really important for Reuben in his corner to say,
14:26 don't let him get in here.
14:27 You've got to keep your distance.
14:29 You've got to use that jab, that footwork, and that movement,
14:32 because this is exactly Cophamel.
14:33 This is his home.
14:34 I know.
14:35 The crowd's gone absolutely wild here at Perth Metro City.
14:38 He's made a fantastic fight.
14:41 Cophamel hit him with a nice rip to the body.
14:43 That's hurt him.
14:44 Yeah.
14:45 And again, Cophamel will keep going.
14:46 He's shown his cardio here.
14:48 He used to go in those long rounds in different grinding sport,
14:53 but again, he's delivered here tonight.
14:55 And Karen Eaddy's still fresh, still tired, but he's still going at it.
14:59 But you can still -- Cophamel is the one that's showing the volume again.
15:02 Yeah, and walking him down, and that just wears you out.
15:05 Oh, another nice punch there.
15:07 I'm going to sit back a little bit,
15:08 because Tony Barlow's suits are too good to mess up.
15:12 Yeah, they're both going for that knockout.
15:14 Oh, they want that $500 jukebox Scarborough bouncer,
15:17 but they're not going to get it.
15:19 But if there was a fight and a night bonus, that would be an early contender.
15:22 That was sensational.
15:23 Great fight, both boys.
15:25 Both respect.
15:26 Crowd's loving that.
15:27 Yeah.
15:28 CJ just pointed out some of the blood got on my paperwork,
15:31 but luckily didn't get on us.
15:33 That's why I moved back.
15:34 Good move, wasn't it, CJ?
15:36 What a fight.
15:37 Great fight.

18:09 before we go to the judges for their decision.
18:12 Let's get another big round of applause
18:14 for both of these fighters.
18:15 That was a hell of a fight.
18:17 And now to the judges' scorecard, ladies and gentlemen,
18:24 it is a majority point win
18:26 to the blue corner, Kevin Kophamel.
