00:00 so here we go he promises an early night never wants to go the distance he said which is what
00:17 happened last time out there was an injury picked up but that has fully recovered he's fit ready
00:25 and raring to go the future now this is the man who believes he is the future of the heavyweight
00:31 division and how much ambition does SB Doughnut still have left tough call for him yeah look at
00:39 Tom as a quality quality fighter he's a prospect he's only 18 which is hard to believe when you
00:44 actually when you look at him but he fakes with a real maturity as well he can punch very hard
00:50 and at this stage he's knocking people out and he hasn't even fully developed his man strength yet
00:56 those great stories that make the press about him rocking up at gyms in his school uniform
01:04 age 15 to spar with Lawrence Sicoli and doing again the same with Joshua Dubois you know he
01:12 really does need respect showing and SB Doughnut is starting out doing just that managing to stay
01:19 away from the bums that are going to be raining down on him very soon yes but Doughnut he's probably
01:31 like I haven't seen a lot of him and he's not in the he's not the most pleasing on the eye in terms
01:36 of his body shape but the box in the world series of boxing as he did you have to be a decent fighter
01:42 this will be a good I could kind of a kind of a gauger just to see where Thomas at he does have
01:52 some quick hands quick fists what they carry in terms of power to upset the man of Thomas class
02:01 is well we're gonna find out very soon good fan sir from from a Thomas just before he landed the
02:15 shots Anthony Kraler talked about it as well as feet are really good for a heavyweight and and we
02:22 talk about some of the heavyweights at the meditation fury and a new sick they have amazing
02:26 footwork but this kid for a kid which is what he is is his feet work is very very good doing it
02:37 sensibly here not rushing out and just unloading punches on his opponent he's taking his time
02:45 he had a bit of an issue in his last fight that went the distance read it hurt his hand but he
02:57 Steve Buntz the lane that he used he wouldn't be a very good poker player because he told the whole
03:02 crowd and everyone knew that he'd a hand injury which these are all little things you need to
03:06 pick up and learn as your career progresses but as I said he's still a baby 18 years of age coming
03:14 to the end of the the first round hasn't really given that has been much to think about but he's
03:18 clearly landed the greater number of scoring shots and will be winner of this round goes
03:27 and those two very swift right hands
03:29 what you saw is our family not too much on the hook
03:51 yeah
03:54 yeah
04:17 really interesting that Thomas says to his coach sir he sat there in the stool I don't want to
04:31 blow my tank so obviously he has a he has concerns about his own engine but that was a pretty
04:37 conservative first round right to of six you get it again just slips back and waits in the corner
04:49 for the inevitable onslaught it's been no luck again just flicks that right hand up again stinging
04:57 punches tempts his man to come out and throw his right hand with a hope that he can launch a
05:03 counter but yeah Lucas distance is really really good just that that little job that he landed
05:09 there as this been Dola tried to counter the Tama he just just step back and create a little
05:15 bit distance and landed a good job he has buckled down and held on for the long haul
05:29 with the full 10 rounds with even ditch go last year in sbm dollars so there is a degree of
05:35 durability there but it's more about not he has the ambition to do anything here apart from become
05:47 the latest prey the rising star of the heavyweight division in a game that right hand just flicked
05:56 up stinging the face again and it's been Dola who's trying his best to keep the distance such
06:04 that he's not gonna be on the end of anything big but you feel like you're biding your time here
06:10 yeah look I think it's been Dola one of his issues as he's just fearful the punch and because he's
06:16 gonna get countered he has been countered easily anytime he goes through a shot so that's one of
06:21 his issues here but it's almost like he's kind of happy not to get hit or not to get hit clean
06:30 rather than try and win himself but that was a lovely body shot from the Tama yeah try to soften
06:36 up the the already soft midsection goes in with the uppercut there as well is the only way to
06:46 attempt him out now it's been Dola comes in to swing his right hand see if he can do any damage
06:52 but it's only temporary it's almost like he's nodding in appreciation of the fact that he's
07:09 getting tagged every time trying to trick it Tama into believing that there's no hurt he's not
07:15 feeling anything in those punches just important that he doesn't get himself frustrated here with
07:19 a lack of shots coming from this one Dola just keep doing what he's doing
07:25 well one way around again to tell us
07:32 so what? I didn't go fast. You want to try?
07:39 You want to try?
07:42 Free style?
07:44 Free style?
07:46 Well, it is difficult isn't it?
08:15 But for Espin Dola, he would have read everything, he would have watched everything and he's determined not to come in here and just be served up on a platter.
08:23 So Tama's going to have to get used to this type of opponent.
08:27 Yeah of course, I think what Tama needs to do a little bit more to draw the shots from Espin Dola is just to feint a little bit more and rather than having one attack maybe two attacks or three attacks
08:40 but there's not a lot coming back here from Espin Dola.
08:45 It can be frustrating for Tama, it's difficult if someone just doesn't rather than trying to win this if they're trying not to get stopped.
08:52 Oh, he made a hop in here.
08:54 He's trying to do just that again.
08:57 With a solid chin this guy.
08:59 Yeah.
09:00 He was hit with some pretty clean shots there but he took them well.
09:03 But it's harder the point he was trying to make is it's pretty difficult if someone is just trying to not, not really trying to win but trying not to get knocked out, it's difficult to knock him out of town.
09:13 Three wins, two KOs, Tama the publicity is going a long way before everybody who gets in the ring is pretty much knowing everything that there is to know about him.
09:32 He will have nights which are frustrating but he's got to remain calm, patience, composure, perseverance, attributes he's going to need as he plans on through this heavyweight division.
09:51 Tama could be putting the punches together a little bit more frequently when he has Espin Dola in those positions on the ropes or in the corner but that kind of little remark he made at the end of the first round, I don't want to blow my gas tank, kind of suggests that he has concerns about his own engine.
10:10 Tama is there, the right hand lands into the body, Tama's best he can do is again a wild swing out just to keep Tama off him.
10:23 There's more he could be doing here, he's just not doing enough.
10:46 There's no reason why not that Tama couldn't be putting four, five, six punch combinations together but that was good work there but he needs to do more of it.
10:58 Espin Dola must feel like it's coming, it's arriving soon.
11:06 More power building, the accuracy improving, the defence beginning to lack.
11:16 Into the body, the right hand to the side of the head again.
11:21 It's all very well, Espin Dola nodding his approval and just uptaking it, is that the best you can do?
11:27 The end of the second round, comfortable round again for Tama.
11:32 Clearly in a Tama round.
11:36 Right, let's see, Jason Cunningham in the warm up area.
11:46 The Iceman as he is known, he's had to suck up a lot in the last months because Davis has been chipping away at him in every go.
11:59 There's been a lot of needle in the fight, I didn't think it was real, I thought it was a bit fabricated at the start but it turns out, actually speaking to both guys on Thursday, it's real and there's genuine animosity between both guys.
12:13 What would be the cause of the animosity?
12:16 I have no idea, like Fonzie talked about at the top of the show, seems out of character for both guys but I'm looking forward to a great fight.
12:25 Back here into round four, Moses Tama in control against Kevin Nicholas Espin Dola.
12:41 Himself, he's only 26 years of age, Espin Dola. 14 with a 7 and 7 record, he has knocked down a couple of his opponents.
12:55 He does, as we said, have attributes, motivation might be one of the ones that he doesn't have.
13:02 He's offered the chance to box in the Olympics, albeit he turned it down and he said that was a low blow.
13:14 I'm just looking at Tama here and thinking that, I mean he just, he talked about gears in this game and if he went up the gears and started just throwing more and rather than single attacks, double attacks and treble attacks and 5, 6, 7 punch combinations, he'd get rid of this guy.
13:35 I don't think he's prepared to do it, it's almost like it's too easy for him and just continue to do it this way but he's got the ability to get rid of guys like this, just if he puts the food on the grass.
13:47 He needs to be maybe a little more creative, a little more ingenious in his approach here. Espin Dola happy to take everything that's coming his way, he's shipping quite a lot of punishment, it's not easy out there for the Argentine.
14:05 Just to survive, to ride out this six rounds here, to persevere. He's been tempted out very few times to have a go at a Tama.
14:30 I mean this is so one sided, it's getting a bit boring isn't it? It's one of them fights where I'm just willing and hoping that a Tama is going to do a little bit more and he'd get rid of this guy, no doubt about it.
14:45 There's the right hand from Espin Dola that finds the chin of the Tama but there's little in it to worry him.
14:55 At this stage of his career obviously there's a lot of hype around the Tama, it's important to look good, it's important to knock people out as well.
15:08 And clearly, like I've said, and I don't want to sound like I'm harping on, he's a very very talented fighter but he could be doing a lot more here and just upping the pace a little bit.
15:34 It's an easy fight to score.
15:41 Here's some of the action.
15:46 Some good work there, I was at the end of the round and that left arm probably just landed on the bell.
15:52 But he's swinging those Espin Dola, he's wildly off balance. I don't think he's going to take a Tama much if he could land one.
16:00 And that's why I'm talking about the gears and the double attacks rather than single attacks and just the single jabs.
16:06 He needs to be doing a bit more, he needs to be a little bit faster in and out of distance with his feet.
16:13 But look, he's a kid still and he learns. It's all a learning process.
16:18 There is still a lot of talk about the wanting to get to the heavyweight championship class that Tyson did.
16:25 Back at the back down he is at the British heavyweights.
16:30 You go back in time to Joe Boogner took him 34 fights before he got a British title.
16:35 Now here he's turned the heat up a bit, good combination.
16:40 Again into the corner, covering up the Tama, looking to try and unload.
16:53 And Espin Dola, doing well to actually duck out the way of those shots.
16:58 Yeah, avoided a few but the counter right down coming back was very weighed and weighed.
17:06 The other set up, Bruno went 21 before that loss to Bonecrusher Smith.
17:17 Lennox 89-93 before the title win, the fight with Tony Tucker.
17:23 I think this whole narrative around, and I've talked about it before, around being the youngest ever heavyweight champion.
17:34 I think you fight for the heavyweight title when you're ready to fight for it.
17:38 Don't be rushing things, you don't have to rush it.
17:42 Let the Russians do the rushing as my dad says.
17:47 This is a good stepping stone because he's not a bad fighter, Espin Dola.
17:53 I sound like I'm under a peak mood here, just a wee bit of urgency.
17:58 And even the corner, what are the corners saying in between rounds?
18:02 Are they telling him to go through the gears? Do they know the limitations in his engine?
18:09 Again, the punches coming singularly from Itama.
18:14 Looking to try and duck under that defense and launch an uppercut or a left hook in.
18:23 And again, Espin Dola's quick to find a way out, frustrating his man.
18:29 It's almost like he needs to get angry in there.
18:35 And this is more like it.
18:38 Espin Dola on the ropes, shipping punishment now.
18:41 Can Itama sustain this attack?
18:45 Espin Dola's just waiting for a shot.
18:48 He's lying on the ropes and he's waiting to throw a wide right hand or a wide left hook.
18:53 Itama could be doing this, he doesn't need to get close, he doesn't need to cover, kind of crowd his work.
19:01 He could be doing it from a distance that's safe for him, that Espin Dola can't touch him at.
19:05 And he could be peppering the head of this guy, he just needs a lot of time to go a bit more.
19:09 Again, Espin Dola slipping those big shots that were raining in.
19:15 End of round five here.
19:22 Again, there's certainly been more urgency.
19:25 And that was a great left hand that bludgeoned its way through the leaking defense of Espin Dola.
19:33 Tough kid this guy.
19:37 Again, as we look at some of the action from that round, it is all calm and very relaxed in Itama's corner.
20:01 Dan Woolidge Jr., Jason McFielding in there.
20:05 Woolidge has been with him for a good number of years now.
20:10 And they know there'll be times there will be opponents when you can't go in and literally blow everybody out.
20:19 You've got to deal with what is there and he is just very awkward.
20:24 Sixth and final round to the end with a flourish.
20:30 There was disappointment from Itama that he didn't finish the last fight and he went the distance.
20:35 He said he doesn't like going the distance.
20:38 But Espin Dola is doing his best to make sure he has a long and difficult night.
20:46 I think what he's doing as well is he's trying to look for the perfect shot rather than just let his hands go.
20:52 And he's trying to make it look super clean.
20:55 He's not trying to do more to the body to soften him up even more than he is.
21:08 Yeah, I know. He's went to the body every night again.
21:12 But that uppercut is working as well.
21:16 But Espin Dola does well to hold on after he takes one or two shots.
21:21 And he'll consider this Espin Dola a considerable achievement that he has managed to survive this.
21:32 And it's important that Itama doesn't get disappointed in the fact that he didn't do what he obviously wanted to do which was finish it early.
21:44 There was such a long way to go.
21:46 Even that bit of head movement there from Itama where he body-damaged three or four shots.
21:51 There's not many heavyweights that can do that.
21:53 There's a few of them that can but there's not many in three.
21:56 An 18-year-old to be able to do it.
21:59 This is good but he needs to let them go more.
22:04 The arms are certainly damp by the sides of Espin Dola as he's drawing hard for breath.
22:12 He's got a minute left to survive Espin Dola.
22:25 I mean If Itama thinks that he's tired he's just got to look at Espin Dola's face.
22:35 His mouth is wide open, he's exhausted.
22:42 The shots that he's thrown are one big can of haymakers from the back of the room because he is exhausted.
22:45 And that's why we talk about how important it is to go through the clears to get rid of guys like this.
22:51 He's got a minute left to survive Espin Dola.
23:06 Although that was defended well enough.
23:21 He's got a minute left to survive Espin Dola.
23:36 I mean he heard the clapper for the last 10 seconds and he had a burst like that.
23:41 You know he could have been doing that round before.
23:44 I don't want to sound like I'm critical of the kid.
23:47 He's a very very talented fighter.
23:49 He knows his way around the ring.
23:51 Punch selection is really good.
23:53 Feet are really good.
23:55 But I just want to see more gears.
23:57 I want to see him go through the gears now at the opportunity.
23:59 And that was the perfect opponent to go through the gears on.
24:02 Someone who lays against the rope, waiting to counter.
24:05 And I think once he does that, once he gets his engine a bit better, this kid could go all the way.
24:11 Does there need to be a bit more realism now surrounding him at all that height?
24:16 Or do we just need to back off a bit and let him develop and let him build his career?
24:21 Absolutely.
24:22 Look, he's a heavyweight, an 18-year-old heavyweight fighting big man.
24:27 You know what I mean?
24:28 It's not like the amateur game where you hit these guys and they're falling over.
24:32 This is a different story.
24:33 It's a different game.
24:34 But he's got so much potential.
24:36 Thomas Stryber with the score.
24:44 Ladies and gentlemen, after six rounds of boxing, our referee in charge, Kevin Parker,
24:50 scores this contest 60-54 for your winner and still undefeated, Moses Itamo.
25:04 Moses Itamo then goes to 4-0.
25:08 The future of the heavyweight division rolls on undefeated.
25:13 Bigger tests, though, to come.
